Segment 1 (00:00 - 05:00)

San Morates, Switzerland. The embodiment of winter's beauty, situated in luxury and prestige, which makes it the perfect stage for holding the most iconic event a motor enthusiast can imagine, the International Concore of Elegance. That is [ __ ] crazy. I have to cherish this SD card with my life. Hey, how's it going? Hope you're having a [ __ ] one. That sun is actually really bright, surprisingly. I am here in Switzerland. We're on our way over to St. Maritz. I just got picked up by Tim in this hectic BMW XM. We just stopped over for a quick photo just then. Um, but we're on our way probably about 30 minutes away from St. Mary's where it's all happening. I've just got some messages from some friends over there just telling me what kind of cars are there at the moment. It is going to be an absolutely hectic weekend. I'm kind of feeling a little bit overwhelmed because I want to try and cover as much of the event as I possibly can. I have no idea what to expect. Everyone's telling me like there's going to be this car and that car and it's just going to be this and that. And it's just like there's so much to intake and it's such a small amount of time really as well. We've got today which is like the media day. We pick up our media passes and stuff and it's kind of like the test day. Tomorrow is a bit more of a static day and then the next day after that is they're going to be driving. So, I'm sure we'll manage to get heaps of cool shots. I've been wanting to come here for years. So, this is a massive bucket list thing for me to be able to go to this event and actually be here in Switzerland right now. I can't believe it, man. Let's get on the road and we'll see what it's all about. No way. And there's like a group of five koigzags on their way right now to St. Mar. I feel like I say this in every one of the videos when I come to Europe, but if we can shoot one of those Koig eggs, that would be insane in the snow. We are in the town of St. Maritz. I have never felt more poor in my entire life, bro. Oh my god. What the [ __ ] bro? What the [ __ ] No. What the actual actual [ __ ] That was just three bids in a row. Dude, this place is insane, bro. Is that a [ __ ] utopia? Oh my god, bro. What the [ __ ] Wow, very nice. That old Bentley, I think. And then just over there, the pole's kind of getting in the way. They're unloading an EB 110 silver one. What is that? No way. I don't know what that's called, but that's insane, — dude. I've never seen one of those before. That's insane. — That's the first time I've ever seen that car in person. I forget what it's called. The Nissan R something. Forgive me, chat. I can't remember what the name of it's called, but that is crazy.

Segment 2 (05:00 - 10:00)

With the fan girl incomplete and the car spotting out of his system, Mike heads for the racetrack. Fortuitously, the Paganis, previously observed earlier, are about to take a practice lap. A rare moment when these elusive machines reveal themselves in motion. Cameras ready. This opportunity will not last. Crazy. — Close your house. Feel such like a little car spotter. That's crazy how they do the rolling shots on the snowmobile. He's strapped in there. All right, here they go. Got F9. Might try even be a bit greedier. 125th of a second. Panning shot of a Zonda. I don't think I've ever got that before. He's really struggling for traction, — dude. That is a legendary photo. Bang. There it is, dude. That is crazy. Six Koig eggs just rocked up. One of them is the one to one that we shot in Spain, which is crazy. And the CCF50 and the Esco attack have the Kigac roof box on them as well. So, this is just insane scenes. I'm not sure if they're going to go onto the ice right now, but holy [ __ ] bro. If they do, and I can get some photos of that, my god, I think that's campaign complete. Like, I don't even know how I'm ever going to be able to top this. This is crazy. As Mike continues to fang girl over the Koig's eggs, a call comes through. The message is simple. A private shoot awaits. A McLaren F1. — Yeah, perfect. — Dude, that is insane. You're right about awesome. — Yeah, bro. Lights are way too much. — Yeah, unfortunately. — Hey, can someone kick that massive mound of snow? Just kick it down. Yeah. Can you just kick it? Just — chomp it down. Yeah. Thanks, bro. — Legend. — This is crazy. So, I went straight from shooting with the Kig Boys and then Tim called me and he said, "Hey, get back to the car right now. We're shooting an F1. " And I didn't believe him at first because, you know, I'm the kind of guy who just has such low expectations for photo shoots. I'll believe it when I see it. Kind of thing. This F1 rocks up and we full found this sort of road here to shoot at. Dude, my polarizer is stuck on my camera because it's I think it's frozen onto it because of the ice is so cold. So, I'm just making it work. I'm just pushing my ISO into the stratosphere. But, bro, have a look at this. We'll keep going. Just up to the car park. Bro, that is [ __ ] crazy. This SD card has some of the most craziest [ __ ] I've ever shot in my life on it right now. I have to cherish this SD card with my life. — That's probably it, eh? — Take care, guys. — Yeah, no worries. Well, yeah, we're all done. Thank you so much for your time. That was awesome. — After you send us a link or — Yeah. Yeah, we'll do. No worries. Absolutely. — What's wrong? — Battery died. The battery died. — I think You want to push? — This is what I worried a bit about. — Bump starting McLaren F1. Never thought I'd do this in my life. — Can you just throw it out?

Segment 3 (10:00 - 15:00)

— Let's go. — Push, push, push, push, push. Let's go. The boys pause, celebrating in utter disbelief. Photographing a McLaren F1 in the snow is no small feat. And as dusk gives way to night, rest is required. For what begins is a new day of discovery. — Good morning. It is day one of the St. Maritz Ice Race. It's currently 7:30 in the morning. The sun's about to rise and I don't really know what I'm doing at the moment. I don't actually even know what time the event starts. I'm kind of having a guess here. I've been walking now for 10 minutes. I didn't realize it's all uphill. I'm starting to regret my decision. I'm so out of breath. [ __ ] me. All this snow gear on me as well, plus my bag. There's probably like an extra [ __ ] 15 kilos of [ __ ] on me. And I'm also trying not to slip and eat [ __ ] Hopefully my efforts will be worth it. — And worth it. The efforts most certainly were. A gallery of automotive history scattered across the ice. From rally cars to GT1 legends, roadsters to coup. To place such machines here on the frozen lake is no small act. This is a Bugatti bleed. Then try and get a panning shot here. I've got the 100 to 400 on. Oh, bang. That's a great shot there. That is crazy to see that car on the ice. Wow. Literally looks like a fighter jet with four wheels. — It's so cool to hear these things just get on it. I mean, they're not even probably doing like 20% power right now because this is probably one of the first runs of the day. So, it's probably not too bumpy, but oh my god, I feel bad for the last people out here today cuz it is brutal on the ice. After so many laps today, the ice is just going to turn to absolute slush. There's going to be so many tracks made and so many of these cars are just getting stuck. But it's just insane to see the rooster tail of just ice flick off the back of these things. Like, holy [ __ ] man. What an experience. — It's the McLaren F1. — God damn. 40,000 KS on that thing. Can you believe that? Give us the horn. — That's going to be crazy to see on the ice. I think I saw that car at Goodwood as well. So, it's even more insane to see it with spikes on it, which means it's definitely going to go out and do a few laps around the lake. Just this in bed is [ __ ] crazy, bro. Oh, the noises. The sun's out as well now, so it's really bright. sending it. — Sorry, I hit

Segment 4 (15:00 - 20:00)

Some of these guys is just sending it today. It's so good. I honestly couldn't even tell you what half of these cars are. Look at this blue land yacht looking thing. That car looks so funny. — Looks like a blue peanut. Far out. This is beautiful. I can't believe I'm standing on a frozen lake. I mean, how these shots are so sick because we're going to get some back lighting now. The sun's setting. We probably only got about 2 hours left of sunlight. So, we're heading into golden hours soon. So, they're still doing another few laps with the last section of cars, I think. I really hope the orange mirror is coming out because that is a car I would love to see getting sideways on the ice here. One thing I quickly learned about taking photos in these kind of conditions is you go through batteries so fast. So, I've got my batteries on me right now. So, hopefully my body temperature can keep them a little bit warmer before I put them in my camera. The A1 Mark II has pretty shocking battery life as it is, and out here in these temperatures, it's even worse. So, luckily I've got four batteries with me today, which hopefully should be enough. And I've also got the 100 to 400 G Master out with me at the moment. And I think that was a good choice for this event. Although the 50 to 150 is predominantly what I used earlier for a lot of my shots. This lens is super good for motorsport photography because you can just stand really far away but still feel like you're close to the action. And I'm actually giving away this lens. Well, not this exact lens, but I'm giving away one of these lenses with an A75 for the February giveaway. So, if you want to know more details about that, it's all linked in my description. Oh, there it is. I see the mirror. Sick. Wow. Look at that. Damn, that Porsche sounds amazing. With the last of the cars gracing the ice, the sun slips behind the snow-covered mountains of San Moritz. And so, the final day of the ice race begins. What? Huh? Heat. I've just picked up the media vest so we can get on track. And also, just a weird fun fact, you can kind of hear the ice crack underneath you, especially when the sun gets a bit warmer, which is the most unsettling feeling I've ever felt in my life. Let's get out there and have a look at what's here. — I've always wanted to get a photo of a GT1. What a spectacular car. — Hello, sir. — Do you mind if we put your headlights on for one shot? Sure. — Yeah. Thank you. I'm [ __ ] shooting a GT1 right now. That is crazy. Perfect lens for it as well right now. — Holy [ __ ] That is [ __ ] crazy, bro.

Segment 5 (20:00 - 23:00)

So much condensation. What the [ __ ] This is crazy, bro. — So sick. Right now I'm struggling with the light because on my left side the sun is rising and it's exposing all the mountains which I mean looks amazing to the naked eye. And then on this side where I'm standing it's all shadows. So when I want to do a panning shot half of the photo is like completely blown out and the other side is like in shadows. So I'm definitely struggling a little bit. Even when the light refuses to cooperate, the landscape comes alive. Car after car charges across the ice, snow erupting in their wake. In these fleeting moments, atmosphere takes over and the most extraordinary photographs are made. — Yeah, that Audi's [ __ ] sanding it. Oh, the F1's coming out. Yeah, boy. I'm going to wait until the flag goes and everyone drives in and all the shots here are going to be back lit by the sun. I think it's going to make for some incredible photos and I don't think anyone else has the same idea which is kind of nice cuz it's really hard to get a unique shot here at this event. This is me. And just when the spectacle seemed complete, the cavalry arrived. — Hi, Christian. I'm a huge fan. My name is Mike. Nice to meet you. — I came all the way from Australia for this event. — That's Yeah. Yeah. I love what you do. — It's amazing. — Appreciate it. — It's really cool to be here. — Yeah. It's my first time, actually. So, — oh, really? — Yeah. Just arrived 5 minutes ago. — Oh, no way. — As Mike nervously converses with the god of engineering himself, one of Koig's Egg's media team recognizes him. Greetings are exchanged and an invitation is extended to photograph the eggs in motion. Thus begins Mike's greatest photographic moment, which will be documented in full in the next video.
