A look inside R2 | Rivian

When designing the R2, we wanted to take the essence of the Rivian brand and make it into a more accessible package. Nature is our core inspiration. The framing that we were trying to do was to make it feel very inviting, and I think the materials and the simplistic design really, really help with that. Given the smaller size of R2, we really wanted to make sure we were able to maintain the vehicle to feel very open and spacious The first thing you notice is the linearity in the design and how it really accentuates the width of the vehicle. It makes it feel bigger and more spacious in the vehicle itself. The way that we use wood is something more like you'd see from like mid-century modern furniture. It's upcycled birch from the furniture industry. We really wanna strike that balance between technology and then the physical capabilities of the vehicle, whether that's on-road capability, off-road capability, storage, and the user experience all built together to create an amazing adventure vehicle.
