In this video, I will show you how to use PowerPoint as a screen recorder. PowerPoint has a built-in screen recorder that will save your screen recording to a PowerPoint. You also have the option to save it as an mp4 file from the slide. Add the recording tab to your PowerPoint ribbon to get quick access to all the functions. This should work for Office 365, PowerPoint 2019, PowerPoint 2016 and Powerpoint 2013 with the update.

Screen Recording in PowerPoint

okay so I have a blank slide open up here in my powerpoint I'm gonna go up to insert and you're gonna notice if you look all the way toward the end you have screen recording so I'm gonna go ahead and click this now I'm dead now it gives me some options so let's say I have a certain area that I want to screen I can sort of select the area so I can draw the area that I want and I'm gonna make sure my audio is on you can see now when it's highlighted it's on and the record pointer is on so those are just some of the options that you have there to adjust so I'm going to go ahead and hit record so it's going to count down you can see press the logo key shift and Q

Screen Recording in Word

to quit and let's say I'm gonna just go open up a document in Word just for a few seconds and type something I'll type hello here and then I'll be done that I have to stop right here too so I'll hit this stop and you can see it is on my slide now if I go ahead and hit play it has my volume it captured my so it's captured my screen now you might be thinking you don't want it on PowerPoint you could go through and make a number of these in PowerPoint on different slides and share the slideshow but if you right-click on this one so if you right-click you can go save media as and this will save it as an mp4 so you can go ahead and put it into if I put in my downloads here and save it I'll go over top of an old one and I'll go just open those up in my download here in my download folder and here it is right here as an mp4 I'll bring it over so it's a quick way to just use PowerPoint if you have it on your screen if you want to record something think about that as an option I want to show you

Add Recording Tab to Ribbon

where you can add a full recording tab to your PowerPoint ribbon so I'm going to go back to file right here click on file go down to the bottom two options and you're going to notice that got an option to customize the ribbon here so click on that and on the right hand side here just scroll down here and you're gonna see recording so I'm gonna go ahead and click recording and hit OK on that and what happened is now if you look at this we have a recording tab that showed up and you have the options to break from here to record your slideshow with a screen shot from here the screen recording and you can export the video also from it you can also save through here so it gives you some more options to quickly just export your video out and everything's right there for you so thanks for watching this time on teachers tech I'll see you next week with more tech tips and tutorials
