Look at that view. I’m going to tell you how I got this place

Hey. Look at that view. Is that beautiful or what? I'm going to tell you how I got this this unbelievable place I live at

Anybody can have this if I can have it

that I am so blessed, so lucky to have. I'm showing you this because I'm absolutely believe that anybody can have that view. If I can have it, you can have it. Okay

Three things made this happen

I'm going to tell you three things that made this happen. I think made it happen. Other than God and destiny and blah, all that I can't quite put my hands on, right? Not that it's blah, but it's very important, but cuz I absolutely wouldn't even be able to enjoy this without a creator. Look at that. I try to beat the sun up every morning.

I try to beat the sun up every morning

Not to enjoy that but to give myself a sense of I got up before it did. It's just a little game I play with myself.

Grew up in Louisiana, single mom, drug addict for 10 years

myself. Look, I grew up in Louisiana. I was raised by a single mom. My dad died when I was 10 years old. I was a drug addict for 10 years. I should not have any of this. But I do. And I'm going to share with you three things. I think three things that I did that kind of had something to do with it. I mean, obviously there's a lot more than three things, but these three things had a lot to do with moving from a little 400 square foot duplex where I lived. 400 square feet. Payments were 175 bucks a month or 200 bucks a month. I don't even remember now. And I have a home on this coast. This is crazy. Like it's insane. I'm waking up this morning and saying, "Hey, pinch yourself, bro. Is this Did this really happen to you? " And how did it happen?

I should be dead or in jail

Cuz I of all the people I should be a dead. I overdosed three times. I went to a treatment center for drug addiction. Two of my friends died while I was gone. Third one disappeared. We don't even know where the dude's at. We think he was probably uh narcotics division. And I should not be here. I should be either in jail or I should be in the ground buried.

First thing: I cleaned up my life

buried. Now, but I am here. And there's something I did along the way. First of all, I cleaned up. So, you guys are smoking weed you know, you you're playing on the weekends, you're spending all your time getting drunk or weed or pills or cocaine or whatever you're doing, dude. Like I'm telling you you're not going to

You won’t get this doing drugs or distractions

get this doing all that. it. And if you get it, you're not going to keep it. So, you know you know that's true. Everybody knows it's true. There's no argument. You don't need to fight it. Don't tell me about oh, Snoop smokes every day. Yeah, well, Snoop ain't got this. This is mine, okay? That's paid for in cash right there. It's 100 feet ocean front. Some of these homes down here sell for 90 million or 100 million dollars. So, and I'm not one of these people. wealthy super rich people that that

I didn’t invent anything, didn’t inherit money

did it uh cuz I have some great degree or I invented something or Dude, this is just work, period. Work from nothing. Zero. No credit. No money. No credit cards.

Started with nothing, damaged reputation

A damaged reputation. Any of you guys maybe you spent some time in jail or uh you ruined your reputation. That That's my situation. I ruined my entire reputation. My whole community knew I was a druggy. And a loser. And my mom told my friends' moms "Tell your sons not to hang out with my son. My son's in trouble. " My mom even at one point at the end gave up on me. She's like, "You can't come here anymore. You need to fix your problems. If you can't fix your problems" cuz she couldn't help me. I had to help myself. So long story short, that's not really what I'm here to tell you. This isn't a drug This isn't me preaching about drugs. Um whatever. This is how did I get this really? Now, the first way I got this

First strategy: collect images of what you want

the first thing I think has something to do with it that anybody can do, by the way. Costs you nothing to do this. Is throughout when I cleaned up I Well, I've always been ambitious. I've always wanted stuff like this. I looked at a lot of pictures. Magazines. The Robb Report. Uh Forbes magazine. I really wasn't reading, to be honest with you. I was looking at pictures. And every once in a while you should try this. Try this for the rest of the year. If you see images, screenshot them. Take Pull them out of magazines. That's what I was doing. We didn't have an

Screenshot everything you like

internet when I was growing up, so anytime you see something you like, don't even worry about why you like it. Just boom, pull a picture. I collected books and books of pictures. Hello. Okay? I had literally like uh I had a little cheap uh briefcase and I I flew a lot. I was on a

Started learning sales and consulting

plane, I don't know, 150 times a year. Uh at the age of 30 years old, I was running around consulting companies on sales and driving revenue and operations and getting the people leadership positions, you know, people skills, communication skills, negotiating. I was teaching these companies this when I finally got my [ __ ] together. And I started learning the sales game and the negotiation game. Okay? And I'm not going to get all this is all not a bunch of technical stuff. This is more of the other stuff that I did that helped me get there. Yes, I became a great salesman. And yes, I learned how to negotiate. Yes. Uh I went into companies and showed people how to improve revenues and operations and all that, blah, blah. Okay? But that would not have mattered because I know a lot of people that have done that consulting stuff and that got good at sales and that got

Skills alone won’t get you this life

good at sales marketing and that consulting companies that do not have this. So, what's the difference between the guy that works for a big corporation and makes uh 80,000 or 280,000 dollars a year or 800,000 dollars a year. He ain't He's not getting this, okay? He can't He can't. You can't. Okay? So, what's the difference between somebody that's good at what they do and ends up with a bunch of stuff that you like, by the way. This paid for paid paid for in cash. I have a house in Malibu on the other coast. I'm not bragging. I'm just telling you what happened to me. This should not have happened to me. Another house in Malibu that's on the ocean, has a view like this. I can literally wake up to this view in the

Multiple homes, private plane, assets paid in cash

morning. That sunrise. And then I could fly over to Malibu crazy as it sounds, in my own plane. And enjoy the sunset in Malibu. It's insane. I'm telling you guys. I have a jet ski. Okay? I never imagined I'd Much less a helicopter and a Global 7500 two homes paid for on coast. One of them sit Well, the both these are billionaire beaches. Billionaires live on these beaches. Carlos Slim is down there like It's crazy. My life is insane. I'm not a rapper. I'm not a comedian. I didn't get a TV deal. I didn't work for a big company. I have no stock shares. I didn't get rich investing. I didn't inherit any money. I didn't marry money. Um So, how did it work, dude? Like I'm telling you, this is insane. Grab pictures and screenshots and store

Keep collecting images without worrying how

them in a file. Okay? And just keep collecting. My wife when I got married, 2004 my brother at the wedding at my house in Los Angeles We had a couple hundred people there. And my brother that night said, "Grant, your wife, Elena looks like that some of those images you had in your briefcase of that woman that was uh she was a model for this diamond company and she'd always wear this necklace or bracelet. She was their go-to model. " So, number one grab pictures. Images. Screenshots. Save them. Okay? And don't ever tell yourself you can't have this stuff. Just collect it. Don't even worry about how to get it. Second thing. Okay? The second thing I did. Now, this would be a little bit later. I'm 35 years old.

Second strategy: get closer to what you want

I'm having a little success. I don't have any real money. I would figure out how to go see these things. Now, in the beginning it was like it was very low belief that I could go see that house I wanted. So, I would start with like I didn't start with the big stuff. But I would today. If I was doing it today, I'd be like, "Oh, I'm going to go see that house. " You know, you got a house down the street that's for sale. There's for sale right now for 90 million dollars. Let's say you don't have 90 dollars. You

Go see things you can’t afford

should go see that house. You should call the realtor. Say, "Hey, I'm coming to see the house. Uh I would like to come see it. " And they're going to be like, "Okay, do you can you afford it? Who are you? " You got to make up a whole story about who you are and why you should see it and why they should show it to you and all that. And you should go see the house. Even when you can't afford it. This is very, very important, okay? I'm telling you this had something to do with my success. When I have a target

Shrink the distance between you and the target

what I do is I try to shrink the difference between me and the target. I don't spend a lot of time trying to figure out how, what, or what I'm going to say, or how I'm going to say it, or what I need to say. I just figure out how do I shrink the difference? How do I reduce the difference between me and the target? Even though I can't buy it, I can't yet have it. But if you can't get on the property, or the boat, or the plane, or the yacht, and you can't see it in your mind, and then you can't get a little closer to it, how are you ever going to pay for it? You're not. So, that's what I would do. I would go on my time off, or when I was traveling, I would find real estate. I've always loved real estate. I'd go find real estate that was for sale, — [snorts] — call the broker and say, "My name is I'm in town. I'm thinking about taking a position in town. " I had to learn my pitch. And uh I only have today, only have 4 hours, and I'd love to come by and see it, okay? And then I had to learn how to actually convince people to show me something that I absolutely could not afford. But I ended up buying a house in in uh 1401 Oriole Drive. Search it on the internet. Grant Cardone at 1401 Oriole Drive, Los Angeles. I could not buy that house. I went and saw it. Uh give you another address. 6450 Camino De La Costa, La Jolla, California. Could not afford it. Didn't have the

Saw homes I couldn’t buy… later owned them

money to buy it. Didn't know how to get a mortgage. Uh Went and saw it. Couldn't buy it. 2 years later owned it. 1401 Oriole Drive. Went and saw it. Couldn't buy it. Talked the broker into showing it to me. Less than 2 years later, I bought it. It's crazy. It's insane. Uh 6450 Camino De La Costa. Saw it in a in a book. Visited La Jolla. Saw it from two blocks away. Called. Later went and saw it. Ended up living in it for 8 years. And got a loan on it with no money down.

If you can see it and get close, you can have it

Insane. I'm telling you there's magic in the universe, guys. universe. You just got to be willing to embrace it, all right? Call it God. Call it some What do you call it? Whatever you want to call it, but there is something going on where if you can see something If you can think of something enough, look at something, get closer to something, you can have something. And that's true about problems, too. Like if you hang around a bunch of people with problems, you're going to get problems cuz you're close to them. They're going to rub off on you. Same thing about great things. If you want great things, get closer to them, okay? So, first thing, take pictures

Change your environment and exposure

screenshots, images, collect them, store them. Two, get closer to them. If there's a yacht show in your town, go to the yacht show, okay? You got to pay $15 or 50 bucks to go see yachts, go see them. Get closer to them. Walk on them. It's going to blow your mind, okay? It's a way to have something without paying for it. It's a way to touch, experience, smell it, get closer to it. Start seeing how people walk, dress, talk, act. It's going to rub off on you. What you're doing is basically changing the soil that you're in. Okay? You're changing You're moving you If you were a flower, you can only grow as strong and upright as you are strong and upright, and can get sunshine, water, and nutrients. And that's same thing for your network and your mind. Your mind has to have new soil. You know, when I was hanging around a bunch of druggies, guys, that was my soil. I could only grow to the height of the nutrients, the people surrounding me, and the the looks, and the images, and the experiences, and the possibilities.

Third strategy: change who you spend time with

possibilities. Now, the third thing I did. Now, this came later, and I should have done this a lot earlier. I absolutely regret not doing this earlier. I would do it if I was 20 years old today. 30. I would do this if I was 40, 50, 60, or 70 years old. Get paid to be in a room with different

Pay or find a way to get in better rooms

people. Whatever you got to pay. It doesn't mean you have to pay money. You might have to give time. donate serve a table. You might have to deliver water. You might have to raise money for their charity. You might have to get on the tele Whatever you can do to get around these people, man. I'm telling you, get around them. They're not perfect. They have problems. But so do the people that you're hanging around now. They're not perfect. They have problems. The difference is that they don't have anything except problems. Complaints, excuses, same old stories over and over. Third thing I did was I changed the people I spent time with when I wasn't working.

You must upgrade your circle

You're a plumber, contractor, HVAC guy, you're a roofer, you're multi-level marketing, you're sales guy in a car dealership, or you're selling solar. Uh you're an engineer, you're startup a founder, doctor, nurse, single mom, single dad, whatever. Got You have to change the people you spend time with. You're only going to grow as big as those around you. You're not going to like you Even if you outgrow the five people you spend all your time with, you're just going to be around a bunch of people that didn't grow much. And that's going to stunt your growth, okay? I think there's a story about the goldfish. The goldfish, if you put them in a tiny bowl, he he grows He can only grow as big as the bowl. I don't know if that's true or not, but I think it's true about humans.

You grow based on your environment

So, what I did was I put a list of people together that I wanted to spend time with. Hey, hold on, guys. No, no. Don't go out. And I started figuring out how could I serve these people? How could I spend time with them? I spent 3 months with a guy that was worth $4 billion.

Spent time with a billionaire, changed perspective

billion. Didn't get anything from him. He didn't give me anything. I funded the entire trip. Like on my time, my energy, my resources. It was out of my way, away from my family. Uh it was an inconvenience. It was worth every penny of it. Okay, it was worth it all, trust me. Why? Cuz I was around a guy that was worth $4 billion. And I'm going to tell you something. There's something about other people that rubs off on you. I don't know if he wasn't worried about money every day. He's making Came to me one morning at breakfast.

Exposure changes your thinking about money

He's like, "My stock went down $80 million today. " I'm like, "Oh my god. " How does a stock go down $80 million? How does one guy lose $80 million in one day? And by the way, it didn't even bother him. See, that was so unbelievably important for me to experience that. The amount of havingness increased ability to have things. And losses, and victories. And just being around other people that don't have the same problems I have. If you're around the people the same the people that have exactly the same problems that you have, you're just going to end up with the

Get around bigger people with bigger experiences

same problems that you have. You got to get around people that have bigger, giant, unbelievable experiences that can share stuff with you that you don't yet have. Now, I know all this is a lot of work, but it doesn't cost anything. Take pictures, screenshots, store them. Two, get closer to the target. Whatever the thing you want. You want to You want a Basquiat? Okay, get close to it. Go to the museum and see it. They'll show it to you. You want a an original piece of art? Um What's my boy's name? Um Some of you'll know who this is. Kenny Scharf. It's an original, one-of-a-kind. They're never going to have a second one of these. Get close to it.

Reinforcing the 3 steps again

I saw it on the internet. Wow, that's awesome. That's amazing. Who's got it? Found out who had it. Went and looked at it. I didn't have the money to buy this. Bang, magically something happens where we end up working a deal out on this piece of art. So, this piece of art right here, okay? This the octopus. I love octopuses cuz they're, you know, they're extremely intelligent. Uh in fact, I think in Japan you can't kill an octopus because of their intelligence, because they're so It's against the law. And they're like an honored species. And they have eight arms, and they're, you know, they're extremely nimble and movable, no vertebrate, phenomenal animal. And guess what? I went on the internet, saw an auction, that piece was there. I stole this piece of art. Okay? Now, by this time I had money, and I'm looking at art and stuff, but it all It's all the same thing, guys. If you're coming from nothing, starting from nothing, you have nothing, don't give up, okay? Have dreams, take pictures, collect them.

Speaking at Mar-a-Lago, unimaginable journey

Today I'm going to Mar-a-Lago to speak uh before Donald Trump. Who would have thought a guy from Lake Charles, Louisiana, would be invited to keynote an event at a crypto conference uh before the president of the United States. I wouldn't have. But I know this, along the way, along the last 40 years, I've taken a lot of pictures, stored either physically in a briefcase, pulled it out of the magazine. Two, I got closer to the targets. Just moved toward it even when I couldn't have it. And three, started changing the people I spent time with. Hope this finds you well. Uh if any of this helps you, let me know, man. If you've had any successes because any of the stuff that I've done. You know, I remember when last thing I'm going to do, this is stupid. This is so bougie and terrible what I'm about to show you, but I'm going to show it to you. Um I remember when I started doing better and then started doing well. I was like, "Okay, I'm going to be a

First million came with fear and uncertainty

millionaire one day. " 31 years old, I was a millionaire. I had a million, I think it was 1 million 128 thousand dollars in an account. I was like, "Dude, I made it. I have a million dollars. " 30 seconds later, I was terrified. What am I going to do with this money? What if I lose the don't know how to invest it. use what to do with it. Like I just need to save it, store it. I was so terrified, okay? And then I'm like, "Hey, could one could become 10? Could 10 become 100? " Like I've now been playing this game for 30 years now. Cuz what you don't want to do is get something that you can't afford to lose it. Anybody could do that. Go get, you know, take a loan out on something and it's too much debt and then the bank takes it from you. You don't want to do that. That's a that's just a loss.

Don’t acquire things you can’t keep

This right here is worth this one little watch. There's 25 of these on the planet. I'll end up giving this to a charity in the future or to my daughter. That thing right there, I don't know if you can see it or not well enough. Let me see. That watch is a million dollars.

Example of $1M watch from vision to reality

And it I don't know that it's worth a million dollars. But I know this, I saw it in a magazine. Took a picture of it, loved it, didn't know why I loved it. Next thing you know, couple years later, I got the watch. And you can have the watch, the car, the yacht, the plane, the wife, the kids. I

You can have anything you see and pursue

got two beautiful kids, man. I saw them in my mind before I had my kids. Anything you want, the buildings you want, the real estate you want, the freedom, the travel, anything. The best shape of your life. I'm in my life at 68 years old. I've never been in this good of shape, okay? Lowest flat con- uh fat um

Best shape of life at 68

percentage I've ever had, best shape. I'm not perfect. I got some middle work to do right here. I got to get rid of some of this. Um but I'm working on it. Take pictures, collect them. Two, get

Recap: images, proximity, people

closer to it. Three, you want to be around people that are in good shape, get okay? If you want to be around rich people, get around rich people. You want to be around yachters, get around the yachters. You want to be around Well, nobody wants to be around a druggy. Let's keep it real. Surround yourself with the people you want to be around. God bless, be great. Hope this finds you well. And by the
