Segment 1 (00:00 - 02:00)

So, I love doing these art battles. I take three artists that I think are super dope. We spin some wheels to get some random prompts, and then we all make some art. And in the end, the fans vote on their favorite. This time, the battle is about remaking a classical piece of artwork. The first wheel landed on the 1600s, so that's the century our original art is going to come from that we have to remake. The next wheel landed on musical instrument, so our piece has to involve that. And the last wheel landed on chipmunk. So somehow we got to squeeze a chipmunk in there. After doing some research, I found this piece by Peter Paul Rubin. This lady supposed to represent the church. This lamb is supposed to represent Jesus. I guess the dragon represents Satan. And Sir George here represents good triumphing over evil. Now, I don't know if I'm going to use all this religious symbolism, but I do like the composition. So, I'm going to loosely use this composition as I sketch and try to inject a ton of my style. For the musical instrument, I managed to get a battle drum in there, and instead of Sir George riding a horse, he's riding a chipmunk. I didn't want to just make a plain old painting, so I decided to take this to the CNC machine and turn it into a wood cutout. After getting the cutout back to my studio, I sanded it, gessoed it, traced my line work onto it, and toned it. And now it's ready for paint. This art piece was one of the more tricky ones I've done because all the characters are intertwined and overlapping each other, so I couldn't work back to front like I usually like to. So, I just worked character by character as best I could. These dragon scales took a minute. Painting the gigantic chipmunk was probably my favorite part, even though the fur did take some time. And finally, Sir George here with his battle armor and sword, ready to land the final blow on this beastly dragon. And usually, this is where I'd be done with my piece, but I decided to go the extra mile. So, I added some studs on the back to push the piece away from the wall. Then, I hit this thing with some epoxy resin so it would be ultra glassy and just look like a delicious piece of candy. Once that dried, I added some LED lights to the back and some hanging hardware. And boom, this is the final result. I absolutely love my piece, but will it be good enough to beat these other artists in this art battle? If you want to see what the other artist made, check out the full video on my YouTube
