NotebookLM just added a feature that finally lets you fix those frustrating slide deck mistakes without starting from scratch. Heads up, these updates may not be available worldwide yet. Just because I have access to them doesn't mean you will yet. 🔗 This video is NOT sponsored. Intro

So finally, we can now edit slide decks natively inside of Notebook LM. Well, sort of. So check this out. I'm inside this notebook over here on the right. I created this slide deck. And if you go ahead and open it up, of course, you can see the slides right here. But there's this brand new button

Revise Button

right here that says revise. If you go ahead and click on this, this will bring up this menu right here where you can see each slide and describe down here in the box exactly what changes you want to

Making Changes

make. For instance, for this slide, I want to change the word almanac to guide. So, I'll tell it And one thing to note about this is that you have to tell it all the changes you want to make before you actually click on generate new deck. It's going to save you a lot of time. So, let's go ahead and look at the next slide. See if there's anything I want to change here. I can say something as simple as change the photo to black and white. For the next slide, I may say something like, okay, this one looks fine the way it is. Um, this one right here, let's change sunrise to sunset. And then maybe for this slide, since it has to do with winter hiking, I'll tell it to make sure to talk about layering as well. All right, so we made all of our changes. We can see down here that there are now four pending changes. I can click right here and see what all of them are. And in addition to that, over here on the right, any slide that you made a pending change on will be highlighted in blue. Once you reviewed it, you can click right here where it says generate new deck. So now what it's

Generate New Deck

doing is it's generating a new slide deck based on the old one with the changes that you asked for. Now this was a little bit surprising to me because I thought it would edit the existing slide deck and certainly that would be a lot faster and that's the way that it works with every other program like PowerPoint or Canva for instance. But what I have noticed is that when you click regenerate and it creates a new slide deck like this, it goes a lot faster than the first time. You see this one is already done. So it's really not that bad. It is much faster than the first generation. So this is now finished. Let's go ahead and take a look at it. All right. So these are the changes that we made, right? The boulder hiker's guide instead of almanac. That looks great in my opinion. This one right here is now a black and white photo, but otherwise exactly the same. On this slide, we added some information about layering clothing here, and it looks pretty good. It looks like it's sort of kind of jammed in there, a little bit tight. I would have liked a little bit more breathing room for that, but it does work. And then here, it changed this slide to sunset. So, yeah, it works. It definitely works. Editing. It is interesting that they call this, if you click right here, they don't call it edit. They call it revise, which I think was on purpose because again, it doesn't actually edit the slides. It more like revises them and creates a new version of them. Now, there are some

Limitations

limitations that I've noticed with this new feature. So, here I've created a brand new slide deck all about how to juggle, and I like it, but I just don't like the style of it. Let's say I want it to be in like a chalk board style instead cuz that's a really cool look that I like. Well, what I've noticed is that you can apply a change to one slide and have it apply to the entire slide deck. Watch what happens if I tell it to change this to chalkboard style on just one of the slides. Here we have the new slide deck. And if I open it up, you see it only changed the first slide. So, if you want to make changes to all of the slides, you have to actually tell it on every single slide what changes you want to make. The other thing that I've noticed is that the less changes that you ask for, the faster it goes. So, for this one, let's say I'm going to tell it to change the orange to blue. And that's it. Click on generate new deck. And let me time this. All right. So that took about 50 seconds which is a lot faster than of course the first generation which can take several minutes or if you ask it to make a lot of changes. The

Export PowerPoint

other feature that Google added along with this update is the ability to export any presentation any slide deck as a PowerPoint. So now when you open up any of the slide decks you'll notice these three dots right here. You can of course download as a PDF which was already there. And now they have the ability to download as a PowerPoint. Google has said that they are adding the ability to export to Google Slides soon, but that's not out as of the making of this video. Now, I don't have PowerPoint on my computer, but I do have Keynote, which is like Apple's equivalent. So, I uploaded it into that. And what I noticed is that, as I sort of suspected, these are just images. So, you can't actually edit the text. You can't move around just like the diagram here. It is all one image for every single slide. I also uploaded it into Canva as well to see if it would be any different, but it is the same situation. All it generates is an image that really can't be edited, which is a little bit of a shame, but it does make sense because the way that Notebook LM works with these slide decks is it's using Nano Banana, its image generator to actually generate the images of these slide decks. You can basically think of them as a bunch of infographics stacked together. So, it doesn't have the ability to edit the text in here because it's really not text, it's images. So, personally, I don't know how much value it adds by giving it the ability to export to PowerPoint, but that option is now there. It's important to note that these new features are only available right now to Pro and Ultra users, and I don't know if it's available worldwide yet. And like all product updates from Google, the access does roll out. So, you may not have access to it right now, but it doesn't mean you're not going to have access in a couple of days. So

Final Thoughts

yeah, overall I am very happy with this new update. It works really well and it solves a huge problem. About a month ago, I released this video on my channel talking about a workaround to edit notebook LM slide decks that required you to download the slide decks and then upload them somewhere else. It worked. It was just a little bit clunky. Now that it's built in, it's awesome because it works really well and it actually makes these slide decks usable. In the past, if you created a slide deck with Notebook LM, they always look awesome. But if there was ever even just one little thing wrong with it, like one word you didn't like or one wrong that word that was incorrect or a photo that was just weird, it made the entire slide deck just unusable. But now you can just click on revise. Just tell it what small changes you want to make and you can have a perfect slide deck made completely inside of Notebook LM. But what do you think about these new updates to Notebook LM? Do you love them as much as I do? Let me know in the comments section down below. And I know

Chrome Extension

I'm going to get a lot of questions about these buttons over here and what these are. Well, these are actually added by my favorite Notebook LM Chrome extension. If you want to learn more about this and all the powerful things that it can do, check out this video right here and I'll see you over there in just one second. It showcases my favorite Notebook LM Chrome extension. So, click right here and I'll see you there in just one
