self-studying theice skills is so important to prepare for our future a future that's already changing at a dizzyingly fast rate in the past year alone we've seen rounds and rounds of layoffs but also the rise of AI leading to massive leaps in so many different fields Material Science Biology education as they say it's the best of times and the worst of times or at least a very interesting time no don't like that obviously we can't control that much about what is happening in the world around us but by the end of this video I want to have giving you a clear path on what you should be learning to secure your future and in addition to that feel excited for the massive amount of opportunities that are times also brings change always leads to Opportunities and those that catch that wave are in the last year Chacha was released in November of 2022 and it was the fastest growing consumer product of all time by January 2023 it had 10 million monthly active users with that the floodgates had opened all the big companies were going ham on AI and Microsoft for example invested $1 billion into open AI but at the same time Microsoft laid off 10,000 employees and these were the rest of the January layoffs and this is like with me filtering for only layoffs that had over a, people so that list is even bigger moving on to February Google released B and meta's llama got leaped followed in March by opening AI releasing GPT 4 the AI battle was on but at the same time the layoffs were on too these were the notable layoffs in Spring of 2023 now moving into summer VC's tech companies and notable Angel Investors were investing billions of dollars anthropic alone raised 450 Million Dollar on their serious seed led by spark Capital another company was inflection AI based in palalo California which secured a 1. 3 billion doll round in June led by Microsoft Reed Hoffman Bill Gates Eric Schmidt and n video just a couple of notable raises and a sea of money pouring into AI while again some notable layoffs include these companies including meta at 10,000 employees Amazon 9,000 employees and Flink 8,000 employees do we detect a trend here something that makes us go hm do these layoffs have anything to do with AI we'll get to that in a bit but first let's finish off on the year in September open AI shows that it did it again with their crazy demo day showcasing their rapid development in Ai and shortly following that you had the whole Sam Alman situation where opening ey fired him and then everybody freaked out and employees went like I don't want to be here anymore either so then it hired him back among that drama people were speculating about this qar algorithm that was allegedly a Great Leap Forward in AI development and der road towards artificial general intelligence researchers started putting a lot of attention and thinking about how they can use AI to solve difficult problems and accelerate the speed of scientific discovery for example Google deep mine discovered millions of new materials using deep learning there were also hugely sleep fors especially in healthcare with accelerated Diagnostics more accurate and faster chart readings drug discoveries and disease Diagnostics money of course was still flowing in order to have discovered and created so many of these things and the layoff Trends continued as well often with the same companies investing heavily into AI also being the ones that have the largest layoffs and we wrapped up the year with Google's crazy Gemini demo which may or may not have been a little bit deceptive but still impressive cumulatively there was $50 billion invested over the year in Ai and ACC cumulative layoff of 262,525 employees only in TCT alone the jalt principle states that the whole is bigger than the sum of its parts this is kind of like that synergistic relationship between layoffs and AI development they exacerbate each other those that were laid off some people were just like [ __ ] it I'm just going to learn how to use Ai and become a freelancer and make more money doing that a lot of the skilled workers were also taking advantage of all the AI money that's coming in and starting their own companies too so with companies saying that AI is making their employees a lot more productive and they're just trying to double down and focus their attention and money on AI That's why they're firing so many people at least that's what the companies are saying in their statements some people are saying it's also because that they over hired previously and since the economy is slowing down they need to let these people go now but regardless most people are saying that AI is certainly contributing towards these layoffs which for most people is not a great sign for the future unless you're a AI or machine learning PhD researcher kind of person in which companies like Netflix is paying you $900,000 a year and open AI at a million dollars a year regardless these layoffs are clearly impacting a lot of people and investors who have a say into these companies are actually happy about this we can see that the tech stocks have been soaring after each layoff announcement with metastock for example going up by 200% when they announced that they were going to lay off 10% of their Workforce last year on a side note I'm debating whether I should sell my meta stocks now foundational skills from the basis of everything you do in your career and in your life cuz like a building if you don't have a strong Foundation everything you build up is going to be all wobbly and at the risk of tumbling down through thick and thin layoffs were no layoffs they can provide you with the advantage of seizing opportunities and help you recover faster when unfortunate things happen that is why all the skills I'm going to recommend you learn today are foundational skills I'll be talking about learning new skills like AI that can lead to many exciting New Opportunities but first we got to make sure to secure our livelihoods in 2024 you do not want to the rug pulled out under your feet there's this girl I came across on YouTube who was filming while she was trying to find out if she was getting laid off and I feel for her so much holy [ __ ] dude I am laid off [ __ ] oh my God this must have been an awful feeling truthfully I've never experienced this personally because I quit meta before the layoff started happening but I'm sure some of you are able to empathize with this and I'm so sorry that you can but now I assume that you now definitely do not want to feel like that again I remember in Co times it was very popular to say in these difficult times during these unprecedented times but I don't think the difficult times has actually ended inflation is really high now and just me going to a restaurant or a store I like visibly noticed significant increases in the prices of things and people asking for way more tips like 20 30% tips at a grocery store this is why the most important thing that you should be concentrating on is Personal Finance in these chaotic times specifically having a really good safety blanket just in case again not a finance Guru but what I'm doing is instead of having a 3-month safety fund I've increased that to a six-month safety fund I personally don't have a problem with layoffs but with the uncertainty of the economy right now I'm scared that the brand deals that I get are going to start drying up and YouTube is also going to be paying me less from ad Revenue which is where I make most of my money and of course with AI being more prominent I too am worried about these AI influencers that are coming up are they going to replace me who knows but better safe than sorry I also do What's called the 70201 split where 70% goes into things that I need 20% go to things that I want and 10% goes into savings you can change these ratios to be a little bit more aggressive like some people do 50 30 20 so whatever it is that you choose to do you should definitely be thinking more about how do you keep yourself safe how do you have that safety blanket and another thing is that if you're in the US look into your frenks Roth Ras back door things like that and in your other countries that as well uh into your investment accounts in order to thicken my safety blanket even more I'm also diversifying my income streams I also the job that you currently have in addition to that I hope you can see that it's absolutely clear that AI also gives you a huge competitive advantage in taking on roles whether that be full-time positions or freelance positions cuz you're going to be in the minority of people who knows how to use these skills I'm not saying that everybody should learn how to code and use AI from a technical perspective or become an AI or ml engineer but at the very minimum you should be keeping up with the AI applications in your field and the specific AI skills that are being applied in your field Millionaire fast lane he talks about three different paths that you can take the first is called The Sidewalk which is living for today rather than the future you're spending more money that you earn not thinking about having a safety net and just generally not taking care of future you next is the stoling and a stoling is about sacrificing today for tomorrow it's usually the conventional wisdom where you should get a good job save a certain amount invest in a certain amount at a very low risk and then just kind of like slowly grow your wealth over time where hopefully when you retire in your 60s you're able to be wealthy now finally the fast lane about getting rich quick by starting a business before you click off this video and think it's a Spam like get rich quick like that guy with the Lamborghini here in my garage just bought this uh new Lamborghini here knowledge when we say quick we mean like 10 years of hard work it's about starting a business and taking advantage of what is called Leverage which I'll talk about in a little bit your goal is to work really hard for 10 years or so and then be able to retire at a young age and actually enjoy all of the money that you have unlike the slow lane which by the time that you are in your 60s retired and have wealth um you're probably also don't have enough Vitality or like Health in order to enjoy it to the maximum the this is honestly one of my favorite books millionaire fasting and it absolutely changed my life and was also the reason why I decided to quit my job at meta so now we talked about learning about personal finance and securing your safety net and then we also talk about the skills that you need to learn in order to keep up with what's happening in the world and to give you an advantage in the job market now we want to learn how to ride the wave of AI and to build wealth foundational Technologies like AI are always going to disrupt and it's going to give the opportunity for those that sees it like back when the internet first came around there were a lot of people freaking out a lot of people who were scared of losing their jobs and there were people who lost their jobs but on the other side there were also people who quickly learned how to use the internet and got Filthy Rich by being the first people who use the internet to make money okay so this is what I recommend you learn if you're on a sidewalk and spending more money that you're earning and just like your finances are absolute mess that foundational skill first we talked about personal finance get yourself sorted first and just as a note for some of you out there you may be thinking like oh I actually have a good job I'm secure I can't possibly be on a sidewalk and that is not true you can be someone who makes a [ __ ] ton of money but still be on a sidewalk that's why you hear about like really famous NBA players and like sports people who make millions and just the few years after they retire they're filing for bankruptcy those people are also on the sidewalk they are earning a lot but they're spending even more now if you're in a slow lane responsibly having your job saving money and investing it in a low-risk fashion entrepreneurship is absolutely what you should be learning right now that concept of Leverage even if you get paid really well you're still trading your time for money and you can't be spending all 24 hours working because you got to like eat and sleep and stuff so unless you're like fabulously skilled or like really popular and you're making like a million dollars a year just based on bond that if you're that person you should click off this video not for you but for most of us we do have that cap so to buy bat this you need to do something that dissociates your time and money where you can be earning money even when you're not directly working on it and that is what call leverage you can theoretically scale and increase your magnitude infinitely so the next question you're probably asking is what is a good business to start the author MJ DeMarco gives the framework which he calls the five Commandments a good business to start is first of all one that has need whatever you're doing you need to make sure that there's actually a need for what you're doing the second is entry you typically want to go into business about something that has high barrier of Entry so you don't just get people all like being able to do it you want a limit the amount of competition that you have the third is control you want to make sure that you have control over your business so you're not just at the mercy of other people the fourth is scale it needs to be a field where industry that's big enough that you're able to scale and to grow and the fifth is time your business should allow you to detach your time for your money leading to passive income streams now ai is absolutely a field that conforms to all five of these Commandments there is definitely a need for it for both companies and individuals there's a high bearer of Entry now most people do not know how to use AI you may not have control about how AI is being developed but you do have control about how it is that you can use it and it's clear that AI is not just going to suddenly disappear there's definitely scale like the $50 billion that was invested into Ai and the Commandment of time by nature of being AI it disassociates it's about like automation right and augmentation so you're kind of naturally disassociating yourself from money and time you can set up the correct operations how it integrates with AI and it's you can just let it go and do its thing so I would love to go into more depths about what kind of AI business that you can start based upon what your skills are what you're
