0:26

What is Photopea? Key Features

use Photop I'm going to guide you step by step  showing you the essential tools and features   to help you get started quickly By the end of  the tutorial you'll be comfortable using Photop   for basic edits layering images adding text and  exporting your work Let's jump in Now first where   do you access this It's just at photop. com I'll  put the link down below in the description This   will run everywhere So this runs on any device The  better the hardware you have the better it runs   once you go ahead and just start using it And the  one thing you do have to kind of give with this
1:00

No Account Needed (But Optional Benefits)

free product is taking a look at the ads Before  I go and open a photo I just want to point out   the account When it's red up here I'm not logged  in So I'm just going to click on this You don't   have to log in but then you got to make sure you  save everything download it Uh but you can sign up   for free with an account and get. 5 gigabytes  You can see the difference with the premium   I'm just going to go ahead and get logged into my  free account with Google To quickly get started
1:29

Start a Project: New, Open File, or Templates

with Photop you can choose one of these three  options If you want to start from a new project   you'll see all the quick access to the different  presets you have available to you If you want to   open a file from your computer any images go ahead  from there and it will appear You can also save a   lot of time by using the templates that Photo P  have in here and then you can edit from there to   start with You can also drag photos in So even  if it's let's say on my desktop I can drag it   over drop it and it's opened Notice up here is the  naming Now if you already have one open we can go
1:58

User Interface Overview (Toolbar, Menu, Panels)

up to file new for new project or we can open up  more images So if I click new let's pick YouTube   thumbnail I'm going to give this a different name  up here We'll call this demo And we'll hit create   Notice now I have the first image open and I have  the demo PSD file that I created for my project   If you've worked with Photoshop before you're  going to notice some similarities On the left   hand side we have the toolbar And notice as I  hover over any of the tools here it will tell me   what that specifically does You notice there's a  little triangle in the corner of each of these If   I click and hold on my mouse you're going to get  more options I can change and I'm still selecting   holding down on my mouse by just selecting it  Notice as I choose the different options of the   different tools I'm going to get different options  right here This allows me to customize that tool   to my specific needs that I want We'll go through  more of that later We have the menu bar up top   where you're going to have more options You can  also change your language here and the theme So   if you like the light theme better you can make  that quick change Um for me I like to have the   dark theme when I'm working Over on the right hand  side we have different windows We can close these   down if we wish If I right click on any of them  you notice I can close all or close layers went   away If I want to add it back we can go to windows  and you're going to see all the different windows   that we can open up So if I move back down to  layers and click it open I can see that it appears   back Let's start with the crop tool If I select  crop tool notice that the handles that go around
3:34

Crop Tool Explained

the picture I can grab any of these handles and  start resizing the part that I want to crop If I   grab in the middle I can move this all around If  you get to a spot where you want to crop you can   hit enter on your keyboard or hit the check mark  and it will be cropped You can undo anything with   using control Z on your keyboard to go back that  step The other thing you can do with a crop if you   didn't want to do free you can do fixed ratio or  fixed size You can see how we have the different   aspects here So if I was going to go to a one one  I get the one here and I can go ahead and hit   the check mark and crop it But again Ctrl Z to  go back that step Very important thing to do on
4:21

Zoom & Navigation Tools

a image when you're working on it is to be able  to zoom in zoom out quickly on a specific point   Now we have the zoom tool down here And notice if  I uh go and click on a certain point if I click   over here it gets larger and it's zooming up on  that point where I have my mouse with that little   magnifying glass If I hold alt down on my computer  it turns to a negative So if I minus now I'm   zooming back out And same thing it zooms out to  where Now the other thing I can do uh is just when   I'm holding the alt if I use the scroll wheel on  my mouse I can quickly zoom in and out and I can   move the mouse to where I want to zoom up on Now  the other thing I want to point out if we go up to   view you can see we can zoom in also this way and  we can use the shortcut thetrl plus or the control   minus to do the same thing So that's an important  thing to know Now the other thing is if I zoom up   notice as we go all the way up you might want to  move this image around If I go to the hand here I   can go and if I just want to move it I'm going to  go to this hand tool not the rotate one I can move   it around So I can grab and move this around  I can go back to the zoom hold my alt down I   can zoom out and you'll be see if I go back to the  hand I can move this around the rotate one uh will   rotate the whole image So if I go to the rotate  view notice now if I go to that I can click and   rotate the image Notice that the angle is right  up here If I click reset it brings it back to zero   You could also just put in a number So if I put  in 90 it can quickly rotate it like that So you   can adjust it I'm going to go back to zero Now the  other tool I want to point out is up here So this
6:06

Move & Transform Controls

is a move tool where we can move things around uh  especially when we're in different layers and I'll   be using this uh back and forth when I'm moving  things But if I click on this I'm going to go to   transform controls Notice I get these nodes here  So at this point I can go and grab this here So I   can also move it around So I can resize it on the  background that it's on Uh then you'll be able to   see as I hover over out on the outside It might be  a little hard to see You can see I can get the I   can rotate it by click and holding my mouse I can  rotate it on here So this is where the percentage   was right here where it was rotated So you can  always go uh back if you wanted to Let's talk
6:53

Selection Tools: Rectangle, Ellipse, Lasso

about selection tools over here So we have this uh  one with the different shapes and the ones we can   draw And we have this magic wand I'm going to go  through these So the rectangle select if I go and   just click and hold on my mouse and select an area  you can see the rectangle one is selected anything   inside the selection area will be affected So  if I go to image and crop I can change I can   crop just like I showed you before with the other  tool I'm just going to go Z Now if I quickly grab   this brush here and I'm going to come back to the  brushes Notice as I draw it's staying within the   selection area I'm going to go control Z again Now  I can go to different shapes here So the ellipse   one if I go and drag and you'll see I have a new  selection one If I go to this one right here the   lassu it allows me to kind of freehand So as soon  as I keep draw I'm holding on my mouse drawing   around the head here As soon as I connect it I  have this selection tool Notice what happens if   I go back to my move tool this area selected Look  what happens when I move Now this shows that where   it's going to be transparent in the background  there with those uh that square gray and white   pattern But I can select an area and move it over  to somewhere else I'm just going to again go Z   I can go deselect and it goes away Now we have a  couple other tools We have the polygonal one here
8:18

Magic Wand & Quick Selection Tools

This allows me to if I was using the arm if I  just start clicking every time I click it makes   a point So I can work around uh you know a certain  if I needed to zoom up I can work around a certain   point to be really exact like this And when I get  to the end again and connect it then it will show   the selection tool The other thing I want to point  out if I go to select and inverse now it becomes   everything else So this area isn't selected It's  the inverse So I'll grab the marker again   Notice now if I try to draw in it won't let  me But now if I draw around it it's everything   else So it did the inverse Everything is selected  but this I'm going to go Z just to undo that one   The last uh one under here is the magnetic one  So what the magnetic one allows me to do is it   kind of sticks to the points here So if I'll go to  a spot I'll just do this again And I'll double   click I'm going to click And it kind of sticks  to the color difference So I'm just dragging my   mouse along And it's getting where the separation  Sometimes I have to click once in a while just to   uh lock it in But right now I'm just dragging  my mouse and it's sticking to the edge of this   kittens uh between the white and the background  And I can click once in a while to anchor it   through here And just like before if I go around  and as soon as I click it selects that area We   have the magic wand Um also if I click on an area  and I'll use the mouse as an example up here If I   click on an area it selected similar color If I  hold shift down on my keyboard and I click again   in it will keep growing uh with colors beside  it that are similar So if I I'm just clicking on   my mouse holding shift and it keeps on growing and  growing and growing Uh so that's one   way you can expand the selection area And we have  over here one more we have the quick selection Uh   I'll just go back to select deselect If I under  if I'm under quick selection if I click it notice   just with one click it bound the mouse Uh here  so those are just a little bit about uh selecting   different objects or things on your images or  whatever you're working on Here we have the
10:37

Brush & Pencil Tool Basics

brush tool If I click and hold you can see there's  a pencil tool They kind of work the same way Just   staying on the brush tool And I quickly did a demo  within the selection before We can go ahead and   draw on anything And looking at the properties of  it I can make adjustments So if I wanted the size   to be different I can go ahead You see how tiny  it is Now I can make all these adjustments So if   I want the hardness to go down so it's soft around  the edge you can see now how it's softer around   the edge So we can make those quick adjustments  to it The other thing is we have different brushes   we can choose So if I was going to pick this one  right here as I draw you can see how it changes   the brush on it Now I'm under just that one color  as you see so far Notice this top layer here will   be the color here So if I go and click on it I  could pick a different color to start drawing   with So you can quickly make those changes And  the other thing if again looking at the different   properties you can make changes up here So if  you want the opacity changed notice it's a little   lighter I can see through it now uh to see the  background the flow and how smooth it is You can   make those adjustments uh here on the uh pressure  controls as well Now going back to it we can do   all these things with the pencil If I uh click  down you'll see how you can adjust it and how   the pencil looks a little bit different I want to  point out the eraser tool here So with the eraser
12:06

Eraser Tool

tool again the controls are here If you want it  larger you can do it Now notice if I erase well it   is erasing the marker but it's erasing the image  as well And this is where layers become really   important to work on as you add layers You don't  want to change the original background image Uh   you want to be able to work with layers as you put  new things on And I will get back to that in a bit   If you want to pull a certain color from an image  you can use the eyropper So I'm going to click
12:36

Eyedropper Tool (Picking Colors)

and hold on the crop and I'm going to go to the  eyropper here and let's say I want to use the same   color as this mouse as in my palette over here Now  with the eyropper on I just click on it and notice   how this changed here So if I go to my uh my brush  tool again or pencil if I start drawing it's going   to be similar I'll change the opacity back here  and you can see it's a very similar color   Remember where I'm uh picking that certain uh  pixel is going to be that color So you might think   it's going to be generally all the same color but  there's many colors within this So you might want   to pick around with the eyropper and try a few  different colors what you want to get This right
13:19

Clone Tool: Copy from One Part to Another

here is the clone tool Allows me to copy an area  I select to somewhere else So let's say I want to   add a third eye to this cat I'm going to go hover  over the eye hold down alt and you can see the   crosshairs come up And I'm just going to click So  that area is selected where I'm going to copy from   I'm going to actually make my brush larger here I  just notice how small it is And I'll make it a lot   larger And now wherever I draw So if I draw here  on the cat you can see it's copying that   eye from where I go Now if I go larger it starts  to copy the whole thing So I can pick a different   area So like this mouse here If I click on alt  on my keyboard Now click with my mouse those that   cross area selection is selected and if I start  drawing you'll see that I have uh this right   here being copied over to wherever I start drawing  on it Now I showed you the clone tool to copy We
14:17

Healing & Spot Healing Tools (Remove Blemishes)

also have a healing brush and this works good with  blemishes I'm going to experiment on this eye here   to make it go away So if I click on this first one  and I'll show you two different ones So I can and   I'm going to make my brush a little bit larger If  I go ins head and select alt and let's say I want   to take it from this area and so I've selected  from that area If I move over here I can start to   brush out the eye and as I let go it blends it in  quite easily like that This works as I said great   for getting rid of blemishes We also have the  the uh spot healing brush So now if I just go and   select a different area you can see the area I'm  selecting and let go And wait a second it heals   that spot So if you have blemishes on a picture  and want to get rid of them take a take advantage   of these tools I can copy this across different  pictures as well So if I go ahead and open up   uh let's say this one as soon as this is open if  I'm under that tool and I'm still using it you can   see the mouse is being copied into here Even if I  go ahead and create just a new uh you'll we'll use   a blank one We'll keep it a new project and create  as I start drawing that mouse is being copied over   to this So not only in the same picture can I copy  it to I can copy it across I want to quickly point
15:39

Advanced Tools: Blur, Sharpen, Smudge

out these advanced tools here So we have blur  sharpen and smudge So a blur And first of all   I'm going to just zoom up on this a bit so that  you can see it I'll blur this kitten's eye So if   I go to this and I make my uh size larger and I  start moving it around here notice it's getting   blurriier So if you need to blur a part of the  object you can use this tool If I move to sharpen   and again make this larger just so you can see  it better Then I start doing this It's getting   sharper now So just some quick adjustments you  can make with that We also have a smudge tool   which allows you I'll just go to the tip of the  ear here and I'll make this larger Again if I just   click and hold my mouse you can see how I can kind  of drag and pull from the image It's like having   your finger on wet paint and pushing it out With  these advanced editing tools dodge burn and sponge
16:39

Dodge, Burn & Sponge Tools (Lighting & Saturation)

tool you can make adjustments to the picture as  well So with the dodge tool this will lighten   So I'm just clicking and holding on my mouse and  you can see how it's lightening it lighting a   certain area Notice all the changes up here like  I've showed you before with brush size exposure   if you want to make adjustments to these If  I want to uh darken something I can go to   the burn tool If I click and drag around you can  see how it's making things darker on this one Uh   again take a look at the changes We also have the  sponge tool that deals with saturation uh to make   pixels seem more lively So if I I'll make this  a lot larger so you can see it Pick an area You   can see how it's making those adjustments and how  you can change from saturate to desaturate on any   of these Let's talk about the text tool here the  type tool So if I have this selected again all the
17:30

Text Tool: Adding & Editing Text Layers

different options I have across the top you can  make those changes before or even after So I can   see the different fonts from here the previews on  any of these ones So if I just pick this top one   and before I do anything uh to it I'll just type  on this one You can see how tiny it is I'll type   hello We want this a lot larger than that 20 pixel  So I'm going to highlight this and I can drag it   up It makes it larger this way I can actually just  type a number in So if I type like 500 it will it   will go to that size as well What I want to point  out over on the side here is take a look at this   It created a new layer on top of this So if I go  to the move tool like I showed you before I can   move this all around It's not attached to the  background It's on a new layer If I go back to   the text tool text type here If I click again it's  going to create another layer and they're separate   on it I can go back and edit this one I'll show  you But if I go and type uh I'll just say type   good in here I can still make changes to this one  So if I wanted to add a stroke maybe I want it a   little bit larger I'll hit enter I could even add  a background if I want Uh you can see I'll turn   it off again If I just click off of it there's a  white stroke around it I can make the adjustments   from centering if I had a you know depending on  how I wanted All these different options here that   you can make Now I can adjust each of these still  If I click on the hello now I'm working with this   one I can go back into this one and highlight it  and say you know what maybe I want this to be   green and you can see the changes and I can still  go back and I can click add a stroke uh to these   and make those changes to it So this is where  layers get really important because you don't want   to be able to have to pull from the background  like I showed you before from a selection So this   helps you start to the beginning basics of layers  If you notice with the layers we have this little
19:32

Working with Layers (Visibility & Locking)

eye over here So if I click on good and I let's  just click on the eye it's hidden now Nothing   got deleted It's just hidden I can click on it  again to view it So any of these I can hide just   by clicking on that The other thing I can do is  lock it in place So I've showed you how I can move   these layers around If I click on the lock here  if I try to move it I'm on the background moving   it And so that can quickly be turned on and off if  you need to lock any of these layers in place So   I've been putting all these different things on an  image but I can go ahead and put it onto a blank   document So whether it be text or even shapes  So if I click on shapes here you can see all
20:10

Shapes & Vector Graphics

the different vector shapes When I go ahead and  create these I can make them larger You're notice   it's not going to get pixelated It's not going to  lose quality uh with these vector shapes So if I   go ahead and I'll just do this as an example We'll  pick the polygon The shape is up here So depending   on what you want to have and this is going to be  the fill You can see the different options If I go   ahead and just draw it a little bit off I can move  this over I draw that shape If I need it to have   an arrow I can drop down I can go to the arrow I  can increase the uh the sizes of different things   as well You can see all the different adjustments  that I can make to make it thicker If I wanted to   do make it wider again there it's a bit thicker  Uh and then you can look at the different options   here that you have a well to change them Over on  the side you can see these are adding different
21:05

Duplicating & Managing Layers

layers as well If I want to delete any of these  I can go ahead and just hit delete on my keyboard   This works with the different text tools that  we show that I said before too We can just hit   delete If I rightclick on it you can see all  the different options I can even duplicate a   layer I have delete here But if I duplicate  the layer I have two of them It doesn't look   like I like have two If I move one over you can  see the other option is there And I can go back   and resize it here Let's dive a little bit more  into layers I've showed you kind of the beginning
21:41

Layer Order & Group Movement

parts of it as I put the text and shape tools in  here Now the other thing I want to point out and   I've showed you this already how we can move it  but if I select multiple layers so if I have this   selected and I hold shift down and now you can see  I've selected two different ones Now I'm moving   both of those If I hold shift down again and click  this one now I'm moving all three The other thing   I want to point out is so if I bring good over  here notice it's below hello And if I bring the   star over it's on top So there's the order here  I can move these around So if I want good on top   I can click and hold and drag it up So you can  adjust the layers depending on where you uh which   one you want on top of the other So you can just  quickly make those changes Now the other thing   is when we copy a piece of the picture that we  select we can add it to another or any of these So   if I go ahead and let's say I select I right now I  only have the star selected I could go Ctrl C for
22:44

Copying and Pasting Between Projects

copy on my keyboard and I can go CtrlV and paste  it over And we have another layer added Now I've   showed you selection tools before So if I go back  to let's just do the rectangular one I can make   a selection So right now this won't work because  if you look what am I selected on If I wanted to   select this kitten I need to make sure I'm under  the background one So at this point I could go   C for copy or I could go to copy up here You can  see here's the shortcuts here And I can move over   to a different picture and go CtrlV for paste  This gets pasted as another layer So you could   use those other selection tools that I showed you  to get something more specific and paste it over   into another one And like I showed you if you I  turn this on here I can adjust this the size I   can rotate it and I can make all these different  changes to it Photo has a gallery where you can   grab images from to add them as well So right here  if I go to the gallery I can do a search Let's say
23:48

Photopea Gallery: Search & Insert Images

for dog you can see all the different options I  can go ahead and select one So that gets added So   all the things before and I'm going to click this  again to make it go away I can size this and move   it around just like I showed you before If I click  on this the layer styles and I click on it I get
24:06

Layer Styles (Stroke, Shadow, Bevel)

all these different options So if I go to stroke  uh you'll notice that we have these different   layer styles And right now there's a stroke around  it because this is selected I can turn it on or   off We have a color here As I select as I change  the different uh the stroke around it you can make   all these adjustments to this So if I wanted to  do bevel and emboss now that's going to be added   to this As I turn it off you can see it slightly  changed But I can go and make all these changes to   that specific uh specific layer If I wanted a drop  shadow or an outer glow I can click and make these   adjustments to make them stand out more Another  way to make another way to work with layers is   to make adjustments to the image So I'm going  to go and turn this on under adjustments Well

Adjustment Layers (Color, Brightness, etc.)

not turn it on but show it over here And now if I  go to let's say color balance and you can see all   the different options from brightness to levels  I'll just pick color balance A new layer has been   created I haven't adjusted anything yet It's still  at zero So now if I go ahead and change this look   at how this is adjusting here based on uh how I'm  just pulling over the levers This is opened over   here That's why you're seeing it I can click on it  again and it goes away If you want to see what it   looks like from the original I can just go ahead  and turn this uh to hidden and turn it on Now I   can delete this just like I showed you before If  I want to select a certain area So if I go to this

Targeted Edits with Selection + Adjustments

tool over here the quick selection Let's say I  pick this mouse here And you can see it's   selected here Now if I go and change we'll click  click on brightness It will create a layer for   that specific spot So if I change the brightness  you can see it's just the mouse changing So   you could really make selections on your image  and fine-tune it to exactly what you needed to change Let's say I want to copy this image of the  mouse over to my other picture Now like I showed   you before with the quick one I can select  it and the mouse is selected because I'm on   the background layer But if I go over to this  other one and I paste it over here notice it's   not the bright color what I made the adjustment  to This is because this over here is just a mask   layer on top of it Uh so I if I want to be able  to copy it with the bright over here I'm going to

Flattening Layers (Before Exporting)

go ahead and flatten this So if I right click on  this you'll notice that we have a flattened image   Once I flatten image I have no more layers now So  this is at the end point If I wanted to make sure   to copy this out and I wanted it as an image I  could now take this if I go Ctrl C and move it   over here and Ctrl +V and paste it again Notice  the difference between the two of them here   Now you make sure you don't want to flatten it  but if you're still doing um all these different   things the layers and adjusting uh adjusting  them to it I'll go control Z back and that will   undo that last flattening It's really important  to get your saving correct depending on how you   want to work with the image after So right now  I have all these different layers and let's say   I want to make sure I maintain my layers What I  would need to do is save it as a PSD because if I

Saving Options: PSD, PNG, JPEG, SVG

save it if I export as a PNG JPEG it will flatten  those image and those layers won't be there to be   uh to manip manipulate later The PNG would be if  you want a transparent background that's what you   would save it as And then you have your vector  format for the SVG But let's go to save as PSD   As soon as I do this would be locally on my  computer where I could give it a name here and   it's going to be saved as a PSD file that I can  open up later with the different layers If I go

Saving to Cloud Drives (Google, OneDrive, etc.)

to file and save more if I go to PSD to storage  notice uh I'm logged in here I do have a little   bit of storage I can save it to my P drive here  by giving it a name and hit save But I can also go   to my Dropbox to one drive Google Drive all these  options as well So make sure you save it correctly   based on what you need to do with your file later  So now it's time for you to take advantage of
