Google Vids: What Happens When Google Slides Meets a Video Editor?

Google vids is like if Google  slides and a video editor had   a baby and then you sprinkle in  a little Gemini AI when you need it hi I'm Jamie and welcome to teachers Tech I'm  excited to show you how to use Google vids for   your next video editing project it's super easy to  use you're going to catch on in no time I do want   to point out though this isn't available to every  Google account and I want to give you a quick   rundown so you can check to see if you're going to  have this available to you I'll put the link to   this page down below in the description so you can  check out to see what you need to get Google vids   you can see it is aimed towards a business Google  accounts or the school Google accounts I but if   someone does share a video that they created from  Google vids even on your personal account you'll   be able to edit it but let's go ahead and start  our first Google Vid before we get started I just   want to show you what we're going to be creating  so you understand what Google vids is and this   only took me a couple minutes to create because I  was letting AI do most of the work now if you look   at this I do have a plate where I can play this  and it's going to load up and just play through   like a normal video it here I'm going to go ahead  and stop this uh you would hear music start right   away down below you'll see that we have a playhead  that I can drag through each of these clips and   then I can go ahead and uh show the timing and  you can see the assets that are on each clip   so from the different shapes the text the video  that's included on here and also the audio that   plays through the entirety of it very much like a  video editor so I just wanted to give you a little   bit of an idea of what you're going to be seeing  but for now I'm going to move over to my Google

Drive and I have a folder in here that I'm going  to start my Google vids from just like many of   the other Google apps you can go ahead and go new  and Google vids is right here if you have access   ability to it I can also rightclick in here  so I'm just going to go ahead and click on it   and we're going to get started from this point  there's a bunch of different ways we can start   video projects inside Google vids now notice  we can start by using Gemini I could give it   a sentence of what I want and it's going to go  and create me an outline and create a video that   puts in everything from narration to uh different  videos from stock video I'm going to come back to   this because I do love that feature but if you  had a plan already maybe you just want to start   from a template so I could go to templates pick a  template let's say like this one import my scene   so I can insert my scenes each of these are  a scene in Google Slides we'd call it a slide   but these are scenes because they're going to  play for a length of time all this is editable   the text the pictures the videos I can insert all  scenes and I can go through and edit it and then   we can also record ourselves so I could record  myself here uh if I hit record now I could record   this screen and it will just be added to a scene  I could also upload but let's say if you close

out we get this blank Google vids with one scene  here I can add more scenes but let's say on this   first scene we have nothing on it we can see it  defaults that five means it's 5 seconds I could   start adding things to this we have insert up top  here and notice that we can add things like text

stock media shapes lines if I go to insert text  notice over here it opens up now this I'm used   to going this way too so this and from the insert  or over here it's going to be the same thing so   if you want to add just your basic text I could  click and put a title on here you know if I could   type what I want all these things you can change  just like uh normal Google Slides if I wanted to   change my font I could go through and you'll see  how it changes here as I add it to here if I open   this up here it shows me the timing of my text so  right now my text is playing the entire length of   this I could make this play less so what that  means is if I hit my if I hit play now you'll   notice it will go away after that amount of time  with any of these things I add and I could go   ahead and add animation to it as well so notice  as I click there's animation there's no animation   now to this but if I wanted to click breathe or  toaster like this so if I go and click on toaster   now if I bring it back and hit play that is added  to it so there's also an ENT that's on enter and   exit you can pick all these things I'm going to  close out another thing that you might want to do   is add an image so if I click stock media you can  add videos or images so let's say if I go to dogs   and I do a search you're going to see that there's  uh things from video to stock images to even music   here so if I go and click a video and bring it  on to this slide I can now the video went to 11   seconds because this is 11 seconds but I can still  trim this video so if I go and drag this back to   however long I want notice the video on that scene  will disappear so I can go ahead and add an image   starting at a different point so we could trim  from both ends of this so if I have this video   playing from here jumping over to this one here I  could add animations so notice all the different   things that get added into the timelines where we  can adjust when we want it to be we can also add   we can also add audio to this so in this case  this is music so I can drag it around I can   trim just like I did with the videos and if I hit  play You're going to hear the audio added to this   now we only have one scene here if I wanted  to add a new scene I can click new scene here I   can go click the plus just like Google slides and  I click on it now I have a new scene in between   each of these scenes I have a transition so if I  go back and let's say on this scene I want to use   a template and I talked about templates already  if I go to scene we have styles and templates so   let's say if we had Styles I could apply a style  and if that could be the text on that certain   scene or the colors to it if I go to templates I  have all these different templates here's the one   that I already this one that I showed you at the  beginning if I go back we have different ones and   these are different templates I could choose so  in this case maybe I go ahead and choose this one   and it just adds it in all at once so I can add  them in one at a time and it shows me how they're   all put together so this right here if I click  on it I can go and change the animation sound I   could have playback options on it so if I go  ahead and let's say add another scene here this

one has a video in it I could add myself to this  so if I could select a video or I could record   a video so if I hit record a video now I could  click on this and say uh I'll click the record   here I have options of things like blurring my  background on it but I'll just hit record and   I'll do a quick uh hello welcome to my Google vids  tutorial I hope you uh like this and you learn   Lots about how to use it and let's say we go ahead  and stop this and notice I I can insert it now   here's my video that I was playing through that  point here so there's the video maybe I don't   want the audio so I'm just going to delete this  if I move back here learn lots about how to use   it I can still edit my video if I wanted it to end  there I could trim it so I don't want that last   little part talking about how to use it and then  it has that animation to take it away all right   I want to show you though how to use uh the AI to  really speed up everything here so what I'm going   to do first of all I didn't give it a title and  this was just starting from scratch so if I call   this scratch notice as soon as I uh do this if  I go over to my Google uh vids here if I refresh   it here it is in my Google Drive where I started  them from so that Google vids folder that's just   part of how I organize things if I want to start  a new one I could go to file new video and we're

back to this Gemini one here I'm going to give  it I just sell out a marketing plan for a dog   grooming business now if I hit next on this it's  going to go ahead and create me an outline I could   go ahead and tell it I could go try again and  it could create me a different outline I'm just   going to leave this as this demo uh but I could go  through and edit any of these scenes the topics on   here so if I didn't want it to be the dog grooming  industry overview I could edit this I could   add a scene or I could remove this I'm going to  hit back again because maybe with your business   you have a marketing plan or some type of plan in  here if I put the at symbol it will go and grab me   different documents so right now I'll just match  it to this one right here so this is a document   right here that I have open it's just kind of  a business plan it's all made up here just to   show you now when I go through this time and hit  next based on the prompt that I give you gave it   and now with the information from that plan  it's going to be tailored towards that so you   can see as I go through uh these things with the  initiatives will match the plan that I attached   it to so it can save you a lot of time where you  don't have to rewrite the different things I can   hit next I could go find my template that I want  but remember based on what I showed you how these   are all editable and how you can change everything  as well I'm going to go create and then you'll see   how much it already creates for you so this is  what it created for me you can see it added if   I just move ahead a little bit uh you'll see on  these different slides I'll just pull ahead the   playhead and gives you an idea of the videos  and the text that it put in this information   now all these things like I showed you before if  I click on a video I could record my own video   here I could go uh change another one I could  look I could even get it to help me create an   image or go to the stock media and it puts the  search in here and I can go ahead and add add   a different one so all these are editable through  here the text uh the colors all those things that   I showed you before we have our transitions in  between that we can just click on and make those   quick changes now the one thing the AI did for  me already uh is it added script so if I click   on this bottom one here the scripts each of  these uh had a script to this now I could

go through and edit it the uh AI created me the  script I could write what I want I could record   myself so if I click record myself I could do a  voice over that just gets added or I could do a   video here as well you see the different options  but what I like is I could generate the voice   over so if I go I could pick the different voice  that I want so maybe I want it to be a oh we'll go   friendly slow warm select insert into the timeline  and it's going to read this right here so if I go   ahead and hit uh hit play the Pampered pup is  committed to providing highquality grooming and   a stress free we have those voiceovers and  now remember if the voiceover is longer we   can always adjust the length of any of these to  match so even if I want this shorter I can make   sure I can match the voice over to the length  of each of these scenes few other options that   I want to show you if we take a look at view  you can see that we have closed captions that   we can autogenerate through here we can go to  insert we can put things like tables or charts   s inside any of these scenes if you're showing  them uh we do have our uh different scenes that   we can split so in this case right here if I want  to split a scene at the playhead so right now my   playhead is right here so let's say we go to the  middle of this one if I go to scene I could split   now it turns it into two different chunks so most  of the stuff is pretty straightforward to use so   I'm going to show you now if you're working with  other people just like Google uh we can click on

share and we can choose somebody else to share  this with and if you share this with them they   don't need to have the work account uh that you  have once it's shared with you they could help   you edit it and they're going to have edit access  with this so you just need to add the people and   give them what type of what type is it going to  be for the access of this one so is it going to be   anyone with the link or within your organization  the other thing I want to point out if up top here

you can see how we can export this to Google drive  over here uh I can also go to file and Export to   Google Drive here or I can download this as an  mp4 so if I click download as an mp4 it's going   to be downloaded where I could share that file I  could upload it to YouTube or use it however you   would like so here's the download right here and  if I go ahead and open it up you'll see this is   a video as it goes through you're going to hear a  little bit of the AI generated Voice through here   as we play it the Pampered pup is committed to  providing highquality grooming and a stressfree   expi and this was all created with the AI as the  example but remember you can start from scratch   or the templates and do it yourself so what do you  think of this I hope everybody gets access to this   through their different Google accounts because  this is a great simple way of editing videos uh it   makes everything so simple and streamless I love  the way that AI is integrated into this thanks   for watching this week on teachers Tech I'll see  you next time with more Tech tips and tutorials
