hello this is Mig from grmo and today I'd like to Showcase a very powerful ticket scanning app that I built for a client recently this client sells tickets for multiple major events in the US including Independence Day Thanksgiving and New Years they sell tens of thousands of tickets for each of those events and they needed a custom solution to scan all the tickets they were using an existing platform they were not very happy with it and specifically they wanted some custom functionality that this platform didn't provide so they consider building their own solution using native code but that seemed to be very cost prohibitive so they were looking at a no code solution they ended up finding me and saw some of the Glide projects I did before so they contacted me in order to build this custom ticket scanning app they were very happy with the app and now I'm going to show you how it works so if we go here uh under the Glide editor you can see the user interface for this app in the mobile mode but you can also see it on the desktop mode as well now there are multiple users there are administrators there are ushers scanners there's actually six different type of users and each user has different access to the app now I'm logged in as an administrator and I can see the scanning interface I can select on any of the events that happen in this case in New Year's Eve and I could select any of the events and start scanning for that specific event then I can see my scan history all the tickets that were sold for that a specific event in this case for all the events because I'm my administrator I can see all the events and a dashboard that shows all the global stats and all the event stats so per event all the events in this case there were 74 events that happened in New Year's Eve they sold almost 7,000 th000 tickets some ERS can have multiple tickets and each ticket can have multiple guest associated with each ticket anywhere from one to up to 10 different guests per ticket that's why the barcodes are higher and some tickets were single scan tickets in which each barcode was associated with just one guest but sometimes one barcode could be scanned multiple times for multiple guests so there was quite a bit of complexity not just because of the sheer number of events and thousands of people but also cuz there were two different types of tickets and different tickets had to be scanned differently as well this is a snapshot of that night New Year's 2024 and you can see there was 74 events mostly happening in the New York area but they also sell tickets for Thanksgiving and July 4th Independence Day in other cities as well uh so as an administrator I can see the stat of all the different events if we go here to the AMC Empire at 42nd Street in New York we can see that 71% of the tickets were scanned and also we can see here which ones were fully scanned partially scanned and not scanned this is very important to check attendance specifically if you want to check for tickets that were not fully scanned or are not scanned at all because then you can just go and click on inv those tickets and you could send a last call email to remind that guest to show up for the event that they paid for right now very important feature to have in order to ensure the maximum attendance as possible okay now this is a copy of the actual app that was used and for privacy purposes I've omitted all the personal information from guests of users of this app uh but you can imagine there will be a little more detail here showing on the each ticket detail right now we have the purchase number the vent and the type of ticket they bought and also which stable and location that specific guest was assigned then we have the tickets that they actually purchase and their status whether they were scan or not in this case one out of two tickets were scanned and we can as an administrator we can delete the scan or we can also manually checking the person if we're not at the door we just for some reason want to make sure that ticket was missed and not scanned you can manually check it in as well here you can see how now it's shown as scanned and now I can delete that scan as well right and now it's partially scanned as it was before now I'm going to show you how a typical scanner person or let's say an usher would scan a ticket so they would select this event like I said there is six different types of users and depending on the user they have access to subset

Segment 2 (05:00 - 09:00)

of the 74 events for that night so there's also that access logic to make sure that staff members can only scan tickets for the events that they've been assigned to now I'm logged in as a Usher type of user so I can scan only to retrieve information about the ticket like sitting information the actual table or floor uh or drinks that the guests ordered so I'm going to select the event that I'm interested in I'm going to do a scan of a ticket that doesn't belong to this event so you can see that we should get an error and there it is that says invalid event now I'm going to scan for the event okay and it says is valid we can view the order and we can see here that this ticket hasn't been scanned yet as a checkin but we can retrieve the information and also we have the optional verification here which it's basically a disclaimer that you can change uh there's a template to change this actual text and then you would pass the phone to the guest they would sign it click done and then they would confirm pass the phone back to the usher in this case and you can see it was verified by this user the Tim stamp and you can also view the signature that the client provided at the event okay so this was an example a custom feature that they needed in order to provide verification at the event now let's use the same app again but in this case as a scanner somebody that is checking people into the event so we go back to the main scanning screen and we loging as a scanner in this case we're going to select again the AMC Empire 42 Street event we're going to start scanning and again we can select a an invalid event ticket to make sure that it doesn't work with events that are not don't belong to that specific user in this case now we're going to use a good ticket for that event we can view the order and you can see one out of two tickets have been scanned that's good if we go back and try to scan the ticket again we should get an error there it is ticket already scanned and it doesn't show up but we can go to our scan history and see all the tickets that we've scanned so far and if you were logged in as an administrator you can see all the tickets as they happen in real time so let's log in as an administrator here and we go to Old scan history and we can see the latest scan happened one minute ago we can see the actual scan and we could also delete it right from here and basically managed scanning from the administrator area we can see other scans that are not related to checking in like in this case the Usher scan that we performed before and also the verification that was done by the Usher so the end result is that the client was extremely happy they were able to process over a million dollars worth of tickets in just a few hours using this custom solution made with glide which means no code was involved as you can see this is a user interface that has multiple components that you can drag and drop and it's all Associated to a specific sets of tables that you can see here and most of the majority of the app was built in just about a week then there were several additions and features added over time over the span of a couple of months they did a run testing Thanksgiving they were very happy with the results and then they decided to deploy it for New Year years as you can see for 74 events so the ability to see an entire night progress across 74 events tens of thousands of people all aggregated into a single app that was built without code in just a couple of weeks it's remarkable and if you were trying to do this with native code would it would have been extremely expensive not only that they got to build exactly what they wanted cuz they were using an existing platform that if you try to ask the developers to make a change good luck with that because that means that change is going to affect all their existing customers so if you need to build custom software to solve very specific problems inside your organization then Glide is just a very powerful tool now if you're interested in a similar app you can contact me at info@ gro. com thanks for watching bye-bye
