AI just started using your computer

Anthropic just gave Claude the ability to use your computer, not chat about it, actually click and scroll and open files and run tools, attach things. Like you send a task from your phone and Claude executes it on your desktop while you're doing something else. And that's a much bigger deal than just a new feature drop. Like this is Enthropic's direct response to this agentic AI movement. It it's of course what Open Claw started. They have 250,000 GitHub stars as I'm shooting this on March 25th. like it's outpacing React and it showed the world that people don't just want to talk about AI, they want this thing to do things now like BU embedded it in into a mobile search app with 700 million users. Tencent brought it to WeChat to their billion plus monthly activives. So the lab that built one of the best conversational AI models now has this real question to answer which is what happens when people stop wanting just to chat and start wanting action, right? Like Claude's answer is this thing. It's this three- tier system. First, they they'll try existing connectors like Slack or Google Calendar, and if that doesn't work, they'll try to control the browser, and if that fails, they they'll take over the screen directly with your permission on each step. Now, that fall back to full screen is the tell. Like, it means Enthropic is betting that connectors are never going to cover the full mess that it is to use someone's actual computer. And I think that they're right about that. Now, the trade-off so far is that it only works on Mac. it it's payw walls behind pro and max and it's still in research preview. So the question isn't whether AI that acts is the future. That's settled. We're there. We're here. The question is who ends up being this operating layer between you and your machine?
