Google Launches an Agent SDK - Agent Development Kit + Agent2Agent (Opensource)

Today, Google had hosted the Google Cloud Next 2025 conference where they unveiled Firebase Studio. This is a major upgrade to project idx that unifies Firebase, Project IDX, Genkit, and Gemini into a single cloud-based agentic development environment for building AI first fullstack applications. But there's something else that not a lot of people are talking about that they unveiled at this conference called Asian to Asian. This is an open-source protocol that's designed to enable seamless and secure collaboration amongst AI agents across different ecosystems regardless of their underlying framework or vendors. And this is actually a gamecher. Agentto agent is this protocol that enables AI agents to securely communicate, discover capabilities and collaborate across different platforms and vendors. You can see all the different partners contributing to agent protocol. Essentially, it's something that's designed for enterprise needs where it supports long running tasks, multimodal interactions, text, audio, as well as video, and secure authentication through JSONbased augment cards. Now, I know I said it's for enterprise, but many developers and regular users like us can actually use this and it's something that could become a way for us to use its agent capabilities similar to how you would with Enthropics MCP. It is a new open-source framework that simplifies the process of building sophisticated multi- aent systems. Now you can build sophisticated Gemini powered agents, help them use tools, do complex multi-step tasks, including reasoning or thinking. You can also discover other agents, learn their skills, and enable agents to work together while maintaining precise control. Agent Development Kit supports the model context protocol, which provides a unified way for AI models to access and interact with various data sources and tools rather than requiring custom integrations for each and every one. We're also introducing a new agentto aagent protocol that allows agents to communicate with each other regardless of the underlying model and framework they were developed with. This protocol is supported by many leading partners who share a vision to allow agents to work across the multi- aent ecosystem and with agents built on other agent frameworks including Lang Graph and Crew AI. Today we're putting AI agents in the hands of every employee with Google agent space. Employees using Google Agent Space can now find and synthesize information from within their organization, converse with AI agents, and have these agents take action on their behalf for their enterprise applications. Google agent space combines Google quality enterprise search, conversational AI or chat, and Gemini and third party agents. Now, as you saw from the video, they also released an agent development kit similar to how OpenAI did as well as Langchain does and many of these other different frameworks have. It's essentially complimentary to agent to agent. And these two components are Google's broader vision for building interoperable scalable AI agent ecosystems. And you can see how scalable they're already rolling out with this agent kit where this is something that you is ready for building, orchestrating and deploying AI agents using Gemini models and other tools in the Google ecosystem. It's something that focuses on how you can build agents with a modular design tool integration or even like a multi- aent coordination system. And you can see that Google is actually taking a step further with this deployment. A2A on the other hand is a communication protocol that enables agents regardless of how or where they're built to discover each other. This is to maybe negotiate tasks or securely collaborate across ecosystems. But in short, this ADK, the Asian development kit, is something that helps developers build powerful agents, whereas agent to agent is something that ensures those agents can talk and work with other agents even if they're built on different stacks. But together by combining this with the agent development kit, it is something that supports for both agent creation and interoperability which is going to form a foundation for enterprise scale as well as regular use case for a gentic application. Now this demo right here is

showcasing agent to agent in action. It's focusing on a task where an HR manager is telling the AI agent to find candidates based off of the job description, the location, as well as the skills. The agent is reaching out to the other agents in this case to focus on specializing in sourcing talent. And that's what the agent protocol is about, where it communicates and finds the better talent or specialization to accomplish the task. And once the candidates are found, which you'll see in a second, the hiring manager can review the suggestions and ask their agents to schedule an interview. This is where this whole process is fully autonomous where you can uh schedule interviews, automate these different small tasks like sourcing uh different candidates. And after the interview was actually completed, you can see in this demo that another agent steps in to run a background check. And at each step it is being handled by a different agent. So you can see the communication amongst all of these different agents amongst this task and they're all working together through an A2A to make the hiring process more smooth and fully automated. And this is essentially what AGI will become as it is going to make it so that there's going to be full autonomy whenever you're dealing with anything. Now, this is something that I could make a full-on video on the main channel where I showcase how you can build these collaborative agents. And I can also showcase the agent development kit cuz there's a lot more to this and I think I would need a full-on video on the main channel to showcase how you can install and get started with it. They are essentially going to allow agents to seamlessly communicate and coordinate across tools, vendors, and ecosystems, which is going to make the whole process super autonomous.
