2024 YR4 Update

We finally have an update on that horrifying city killer asteroid that was supposed to smash into the moon in 2032. We first discovered 2024 YR4 2 years ago and it quickly made headlines because at the time there was a 3% chance that it was going to smash into the Earth, releasing the equivalent amount of energy as 500 Hiroshima bombs. After a bit more research, astronomers were able to reduce the odds of impact down to zero. But it looked like the moon might not be so lucky with a 4. 3% chance that it was going to get hit at 38,000 mph in December of 2032, creating an explosion so big that it would have been visible to the naked eye from down here on Earth. But after further analysis from the James Webb telescope, NASA says there is now a 0% chance of an Earth or lunar impact.
