(bright upbeat music) - As your business grows and becomes more mature, you're going to want to do more with your data. Google Analytics has several application programming interfaces or APIs that you can use to manage your accounts, properties and data. Let's explore three of these, the Admin API, Data API, and Measurement Protocol. These features play a crucial role in configuring your properties, pulling reporting data, and sending data to your Google Analytics account. Let's first look at the Admin API. This tool gives you programmatic access to configure properties in your Google Analytics account. Tasks that might typically require tedious manual setup can now be automated, streamlining the entire configuration process. You could use it for the creation and management of user accounts, establishing events, and the configuration of filters. This is particularly advantageous for larger organizations or those overseeing multiple properties like agencies, because it simplifies the configuration workflow. Next, let's delve into the Data API. This API serves as the gateway for extracting reporting data from your Google Analytics for property, allowing you to retrieve information for integration into your applications or reporting tools. You can create reports to answer questions like, how many daily active users has my Android app had in the last week? How many page views has each of the top 10 page URLs from my site received in the last 28 days? Or how many active users per country has my iOS app had in the last 30 minutes? With the Data API, you can use a wide range of data, including user interactions, events, and user properties. This lets you craft custom dashboards or reports, integrating Google Analytics data with other key business metrics. Make sure to take a look at the API Schema documentation, as this list the dimensions and metrics currently supported. To use both the Admin API and Data API, you'll need to set up your authentication through the Google Cloud platform. Once you have the credentials you need, you can send HDP requests to the API endpoints. The last API to review is measurement protocol, which we've discussed in a previous lesson. This API allows you to send data directly to your Google Analytics property outside of the Google tag or firebase. You can use it to collect custom data, record offline transactions, and capture specific actions or metrics unique to your business. It works by sending events directly to Google Analytics servers in HDP requests, so you can record these interactions and send them as measurement protocol events to Google Analytics, where they can be viewed in reports. Here are some ways to use the measurement protocol. Tie online to offline behavior, measure client-side and server-side interactions. Send events that happen outside standard user interaction, like offline conversions, or send events from devices and apps where automatic collection isn't available, like kiosks, gaming consoles and TVs. The Admin API, Data API and Measurement Protocol stand out as powerful features in Google Analytics, offering advanced capabilities for property configuration, reporting data extraction, and customized data collection. Leveraging these tools enhances the efficiency and customization of your analytics experience. (bright gentle music)
