🔒How to Create a Digital Certificate Signature in Adobe Acrobat Pro📄

hi there welcome to teachers Tech my name  is Jamie and it's great to have you here   today I want to show you how to create a  digital certificate signature using Adobe   Acrobat Pro now you might wonder why do  you need a digital certificate signature   well it's going to help confirm  the authenticity and integrity of   any electronic documents or messages that  you send so I think this is an important   thing for people to know about and how  to add this to their documents let's get started before we jump into Adobe Acrobat Pro to  create our digital certificate signature I want

to explain what that is so let's do a little  breakdown of the different parts of what we're   talking about first of all let's look at the  digital certificate so a digital certificate   is like an online ID card issued by a trusted  organization it says this person or website   really is who they say they are now let's move  over to the digital signature a digital signature   is like a unique electronic stamp when someone  sends a message or document with this stamp it   provides two things the message hasn't been  tampered with and it really comes from them   so a digital certificate signature is when someone  uses their online ID card digital certificate to   put their unique stamp digital signature on a  message or document this helps others trust the   message is genuine and unchanged if you don't  have Adobe Acrobat Pro I'll put a link to right   here Down Below in the description so you can  download it and test it out for free it can do a   ton of powerful things and I have other tutorials  that I'll link up down below in the description   and up in the card as well step one is to create  the digital ID I already have my Adobe Acrobat

Pro open I'm going to go up to my menu go down  to preferences or shortcut control K I'm going   to open that up under the categories you can see  I have signatures already highlighted here when   that's highlighted you're going to get all these  different options now you need to choose this one   identities and trusted certificates go ahead click  more under digital IDs you have this highlighted   this is where you can add your ID too so with this  highlighted just move over to add ID select this   now you have a couple of different options if  you had one from your company a digital ID you   could upload this if it was given to you and do  it this way but for the tutorial today I want to   create one from here so once this is selected I'm  going to go next this is also I'm just going to be   creating this with a password Here putting it on  here so I'm going to go next at this point just   go through and fill out this information notice  as you go through and fill this out the type of   information they putting into your digital  ID your name your organizational unit your   organization name your email address country so  all this is going to be part of your digital uh   ID to help make sure that it's trusted so I'm  going to go next to this point this is where   we're going to create a password go ahead click  finish when you got your passwords and then we're   all done this first step two we're going to  create our digital signature we're going to create

this will be the likeness of our signature  then we can add it to our digital ID in the next   step to do this I'm staying right inside my Adobe  Acrobat Pro you could do this in another program   but for myself I'm just going to go and create a  blank do document if we go up to create a PDF here   uh we have a blank page I could also go up to the  menu and create a blank page from here as well but   being on this page I'm just going to go hit create  and notice I have this large page here but don't   worry I am going to change it I'm going to crop  it after I sign now where do we want to go I'm   going to go and just click sign here and I'm going  to delete the one I already had because I already   ran through the test one I can delete any the  signature by just hitting the X beside it so I'm   going to go ahead and add a signature now click  on this and I have a few different options so this   just picked up my name uh because uh this was on  my account but if it was going to be John Smith I   could just type it like so if I didn't want to  try to sign it I could just type it but I am going   to try to sign this I'm going to go to draw if you  did have an image of your signature already you   could upload it but I'm just going to go try to  quickly write someone else's uh name which is when   you never practice kind of hard so there we go I'm  going to say I like this I'm going to hit apply so   where do I want it I can click where I want it I  could size I'll make it a little   bit bigger here as well and just plunk it right  there now I don't want this whole page so what I'm   going to do is just go over to edit and I'm going  to crop because we can do all these different   things in inside uh inside Adobe Acrobat Pro so  I'm going to click crop page and I'm just going to   select it just like this and I'm hitting enter and  it's going to show what I want to crop I'm going   to hit okay so that not this point I just need to  save this and this is where I need to save this as   a PDF which it will do automatically if you were  in a different program you need to convert it to   a PDF so if I go up to just my save up here where  do I want to put it so I'm on mik computer I have   a folder already I'm going to go into signature  and I'll just give it a name here I'll say John   Smith just so I can recognize it I'll hit save  just like that so now this is saved I can go to

the next step back to my preferences to add it now  let's go and add this by going up to the menu back   to our preference preferences right here now this  time under signatures again we're going to go to   creation and appearance go ahead click more at  this point when this opens up what we got to do   is create a new appearance so I'm just going to go  new and we need to give this a title so I'm just   going to call this John Smith here uh what are we  going to do for the configure graphic well we just   created that so I'm going to go import graphic  notice you do have other choices uh but I'm going   to go file where is it so I'm going to go to  browse and on my desktop I have this signature   file right here here's my John Smith remember it  has to be a PDF open and there we have it so I'm   going to hit okay now what other things do I want  so if we take a look at the configure text we got   our name date logo and labels but I could take  this off and you can see how the logo uh goes   away but do you want to show your location do you  want to show the reason so you can go through and   choose these uh the way you want at that point  hit okay and notice that we have John Smith as   an appearance I'm just going to get go ahead  and hit okay on this so we're uh getting ready   to use this as a digital certificate signature now  our final step is to test this digital certified

signature out where I'm going to go across look  at see all tools because what we want to find is   use the certificate this one I'm going to go ahead  and hit open there's a file I already have and I'm   going to hit select file in that same folder with  the John Smith one you can see I have a sample PDF   you can use any PDF to test this out I'm going  to hit open and what do I want to do I want to   digitally sign so I'm going to select this over  here and hit okay where do I want to place this   so this is where you can place it anywhere so if  I wanted it right here above this signing spot I   can add it notice that the sign with digital ID  comes up so it's going to be this John Smith one   I'm going to go and hit continue I could configure  a new digital ID from here as well so I'm going   to hit continue uh what do I want the  standard text no I want what I created this one   save John Smith and here's some other another one  after you sign it it's good to click this because   you don't want somebody messing around with the  document after you sign it so when you click this   it makes it so that they can't change anything  on it you're also going to have to place your ID   your password in at this point put your password  in and hit sign now at this point you could save   over top of it or maybe you want to change it  with a different name I'm going to hit save   and here we go at the very bottom I'll zoom up on  this and you can see we have it signed with the   digital certificate one last tip make sure that  you have everything completed on the document   before you go and add your digital certificate  signature because it does become a read only for   you and for everybody else as well I hope you  like learning about using Adobe Acrobat Pro to   create your digital certificate uh signature  here today on teachers Tech let me know what   you think thanks for watching this time I'll see  you next time with more Tech tips and tutorials
