12 eBay Mistakes You MUST Avoid

do not underestimate how many things can go wrong if you start Drop Shipping onto eBay and you don't know the right way to do it in fact because it's so simple most people rush into this without realizing that there are many problems with Drop Shipping that can destroy your chances of ever being successful in this video I'll cover 12 of them and how you can easily avoid them one of the first things you probably notice about this package is the fact that it has Amazon logos all over it most people think that because retail stores like Amazon ship out their packages like this that means you shouldn't use them for Drop Shipping but that would be a big mistake I've sold tens of thousands of products online and out of all those transactions maybe a few hundred buyers have ever sent me messages asking me why their item came in a different box and when it does happen I just explained to them that we sell our items across multiple marketplaces and this sometimes happens with cross-channel selling usually that resolves the issue right there in the rare case that it doesn't I just let them return the item at no cost to them and it's no cost to me either the point is most customers though just don't care I think they're just happy they got their item they rip it open and they just ignore the box or maybe it's something else either way most customers just don't seem to care that their items come in an Amazon Box by the way Amazon isn't the only supplier I drop ship from if you want a complete list of all the suppliers I've tried for Drop Shipping and which ones I recommend and don't recommend make sure you download my free Drop Shipping suppliers ebook you can get a copy of it completely free at the first link in the description down below I highly suggest that you take a look at it because picking the right supplier is really important if you want to have a successful store but you know what's just as important where you sell your

items the second mistake that I see so many drop shippers make is that they try to sell products on their own website as opposed to selling on a Marketplace like eBay you've probably heard about this before it's most commonly done on Shopify and this is an example of a Shopify website right here now admittedly there are a lot of benefits to drop shipping on Shopify and I know people who have made a lot of money with it but the fact is I've talked to a lot more people who have tried Shopify Drop Shipping and have completely failed at it and that doesn't surprise me which Shopify Drop Shipping you're required to build a website buy a domain pick one single product to sell and then pay for advertising on websites like Google or Facebook to get people to actually visit your website and then hopefully buy from you this is extraordinarily difficult especially for beginners and most people waste a lot of money trying to do it if you sell on a Marketplace on the other hand you can sell on an existing website that already has a lot of customers and you don't need to pay for any ads it's much more big beginner friendly and in particular I think the simplest place for beginners to start Drop Shipping right now is on eBay as long as you do it the right way you see when most people start Drop Shipping on eBay they usually get really excited and begin to list as many items as they can as quickly as they can but there are two big problems with that first of all eBay doesn't like it when new sellers create accounts and just list up a lot of items very quickly it makes them nervous for all they know you could be a scammer hopefully you're not but you're still going to have to prove to Ebay that you're going to be able to fulfill all the orders that you get in a timely manner and also provide good customer service so in the meantime it's a really good idea to move slowly with your eBay store don't max out your listings on day one list up some items make some sales and then slowly scale up from there that way eBay trusts you and then you can grow much larger the other problem with just listing up a ton of items for sale on day one is that as a new seller you really don't know what items to list and which ones to avoid which brings me to the fourth mistake that I see a lot of drop shippers making you're probably listing the wrong items and honestly this is the biggest mistake that I see people making with their drop shipping stores you can't just throw anything up

for sale on eBay and expect it to sell and really why would you do that when we have tools that can tell us which items are popular and selling well on eBay right now this is the software that I use it's called Zeke analytics and there's a whole lot that it can do to help you find these winning profitable items I'll show you one of the features that I use so if we come over here on the left we're going to click where it says product research this will really scan eBay for us and look at all the products for sale that are under a certain keyword so in this case the keyword I'm going to search for is Mainstays now Mainstays is a brand that only Walmart sells so if some one is selling a Mainstays product on eBay there's a really good chance that they are Drop Shipping that product from Walmart onto eBay so what this will show you here in the search results are a whole bunch of Mainstays products and what I'm looking for is this icon right here this icon tells me that the person selling this is a drop shipper and this column right here tells me how much feedback they have so this seller this drop shipper has a lot of feedback to have over a thousand so what I'm going to do now is I'm going to click where it says scan seller this is going to look at all the products that this drop shipper is selling and then here I can see their most popular product right here at the top this one has sold 76 times in the past month over 95 times in total this one has sold 66 times in the past month this one is sold 28 times in the past month so I'm not going to list up random products from Walmart I'm going to use this tool that's going to tell me hey this item has sold 76 times in the past month so I'm going to sell that same product or something very similar why waste time listening up something for sale that no one wants to buy instead you can sell items that people are already buying this is the best way to start Drop Shipping so please avoid mistake number four and make sure you're selling items that people actually want to buy of course that alone isn't enough because if you make the next mistake you could end up with a big problem mistake number

five is selling zero items eBay's verified rights owner program or v e r o zero it says that there are some brands that you basically can't sell on eBay as a drop shipper these brands have reached out to eBay to tell them that they don't want sellers using their stock images and stock descriptions and since those technically are copyrighted they have the right to make that demand what that means for you though is that if you try to sell one of those items that belongs to one of those Brands eBay is probably going to remove that listing if it happens too many times they'll temporarily suspend your account for about a day but if you keep doing it they're going to give you a longer suspension than a longer one and then potentially they may suspend you forever luckily there is a really easy way to avoid Vera items that I'm going to talk about when we get to mistake number nine but for now let's talk about a mistake people make that will result in failure for your store if

you don't avoid it look starting an online business is hard it's going to feel slow at first and you're going to run into some obstacles along the way if you don't believe in yourself then when you hit those hurdles you're gonna give up I see it happen all the time you need to approach this with everything you've got and if you don't believe that you're going to be successful with this or that you at least could be successful with this then you're not going to give it your all let's look at it another way we know people have been successful with Drop Shipping for example here on the screen I'm putting up some of my students results so you can see that this is working for people now these are ordinary regular people just like you I'm sure many of them had doubts about whether they could do this successfully but they took action anyway and that's what got them results because without action failure is guaranteed so that's mistake number six that you have to avoid you have to believe that you're going to be successful and stop believing that you're going to fail okay let's look at a more tangible mistake that I see a lot of people making which is that they take too long to fulfill their orders once you get an order on eBay you're going to have to make sure that the item is then being purchased from your supplier this process is actually very simple all you need to do is go to your supplier's website add the item to the cart and then go through the checkout process when it asks you for your billing information make sure to enter in your address and your credit card information but for the shipping address make sure to enter in the buyer's address for shipping that way the supplier will ship the item directly to your customer it's very straightforward but some people wait way too long to do this and that's a very bad idea because if you wait too long then the item might go out of stock before you get a chance to order it or the price of the item might go up and even if neither of those things happen the customer may still get their item late and leave you a negative review the best thing to do is to either use a software that will automatically fulfill your orders for you or manually fulfill your orders at least once a day do that and you can easily avoid this mistake

this next one drives me nuts every time you order an item your supplier is going to email you a tracking number a few days later you need to take that tracking number and put it into the order on eBay that way the customer will see that the item is on its way and eBay will see that you're actually shipping an item to your customer if you don't do this you can expect angry messages from customers item not receive cases negative feedback and maybe even an account suspension don't let it happen you've already ordered the item you have the tracking number just put it into eBay I always tell drop shippers to go through all of their emails once a day grab all those tracking numbers and add them into eBay it's simple so please I'm begging you make sure you avoid this simple mistake number nine is not using software look while Drop Shipping isn't hard there are a lot of steps involved luckily there is software that automates and streamlines a lot of these steps for us this is a software that I use it can list items for me it will change the price if the price changes on my supplier's website it will even put the item out of stock on eBay if it's my supplier's website and it can even automatically order items for me let me show you how it works so I'm not going to show you all the features because it's quite robust and does a lot for us but I'll add a product and show you how easy that is so click on the left where it says add products single product and now I will grab the URL from my supplier's website in this case it's Walmart and I'm going to go ahead and plug that URL in right there now if I click publish to store that item will be listed right then and there no extra steps involved in my part but if I click now where it says edit now quick this will pull in all the information you can see it here you can see the main image the title here's a title here as well which I would definitely optimize I would change this up to make it better for eBay because right now it's not optimized for eBay it's only optimized for Walmart which is another mistake I see people making but I'm not including it in the 12 mistakes here today and the really cool thing about the software is you can even optimize the title with AI just by clicking this button right here and then you can even come in and change any tags you can change your handling shipping time but we set that all up ahead of time in our settings to make this as streamlined and as easy to list as possible the description is here you can also optimize that with AI if you wanted to or do it manually yourself you can see all the different variations like if it's available in different colors and you could delete ones if you want and then you can move around the main images if you want a different main image here really the only thing that I do is change up and optimize the title because everything else is automated because of the settings then I would click on Save and import and that item would then be live in my eBay store then if I have any orders come in I have Auto ordering set up so that can automatically order the item any price changes are automated any stock changes like if it goes in and out of stock all that's automated as well and the other cool thing is that if I try to list an item and it's one of those zero items that I mentioned before I'll actually get notified by that by Auto DS and it will tell me hey you shouldn't list this item and I listen to that because that helps me avoid listing all those Vero items that I warned you about before so this is a great one and one that you should definitely be using if you want to scale up your Drop Shipping Store so make sure you are using software for eBay Drop Shipping

number 10 is going it's going quick one because it's easy to avoid when you sell an item on eBay you have to sell it high enough to one cover how much you have to pay your supplier for the item two any shipping you may have to pay three sales tax you may pay to your supplier of any four eBay fees and five you want more for profit so you actually make money if you don't account for all of that then you're not going to make money when you sell your item you may even lose money luckily if you use the software I just mentioned and you set it up correctly then all of those calculations are done for you automatically when you list your item so by using the software correctly you'll easily avoid this simple mistake and you can worry about bigger problems like mistake number 11. mistake number

11 is a problem that can have catastrophic consequences for your eBay store and let me give you an example of when this would come up let's say that a customer on eBay sends you a message to let you know that they never receive their item it's your job at this point to address this issue for the customer it's your chance to solve their problem before it becomes your problem because if you don't solve their problem they're going to open up a case with eBay called an item not receive case now if that happens you still have a chance to fix the issue you can either upload a tracking number to prove that the item was shipped out or delivered or just refund the customer depending on the situation and what I usually recommend is that you actually reach out to the supplier and say hey this item wasn't delivered and they'll either refund you or ship out a new one and you're going to pass along that solution to the buyers so this really isn't that hard to do however if you take no action then eBay they might step in they might close the case against you and then you're going to receive a defect on your account and defects are bad if you get too many defects your account can be closed down you can also get defects for things like canceling orders for being out of stock or not responding to some return cases so make sure you're staying on top of all of that to avoid getting any of these defects they're pretty easy to avoid but they can be a disaster if you don't address them and that brings us to the biggest mistake that I see people making when it comes to drop shipping a mistake that is guaranteed 100 of the time to result in failure and what I'm talking about is when you don't even get started think about it you can't be successful with this if you don't even try so I encourage you to commit yourself to this today you've watched this video you've probably watch other videos about Drop Shipping so something about this is calling to you but you're never going to know until you actually try it and to help you out I have a bunch of free resources for you in the description of this video are two links the first one is to the free book I mentioned before that covers all of the top Drop Shipping suppliers that I recommend the second link is for a second free ebook that goes over all the software that I recommend for eBay Drop Shipping so make sure to grab both of them in the description down below and good luck oh and if you want to learn more about how to do that product research that I mentioned before that's so important check out this video right here and I'll see you there in just one second
