Introduction

- Hi there, Jamie here today at Teachers Tech. Hope you're having a great day today. Today I wanna show you how you can use Filmora 11 to capture your computer screen. Now easier than ever before, right on start up of Filmora 11, you can see that you have PC Screen here, so you can go through and start capturing what you want to record. And then at that point, you can go and edit everything right in Filmora so it makes everything incredibly easy. So I'm gonna go through the settings, making sure you have everything set up right for your capture, even adding your webcam at the same time. (ball plunking) If you haven't used Filmora 11 before, I'll put a link down below in the description where you can download and test it for free. But just to let you know, that is gonna be a watermarked version. You do have to purchase it in order to unlock that. And that link down below is also an affiliate link. So let's get started with how we can record our computer screen with Filmora 11. When you go ahead and open up Filmora 11
1:02

Record your PC Screen from startup

you're gonna be greeted with this screen here. And you can see right away, PC Screen is right here. So I'm gonna go ahead and click this to start. You're gonna see Filmora pop up for a second, and then kind of go down, because what we see here is the Wondershare Screen Recorder. And I just wanna go over the different settings
1:20

Customize your screen recorder setting

to help you set it up that could work best for you. And this over here is the Record button. I'm not gonna press that yet, but I just wanna point out first, the microphone, what mic you're using. So in my case, I'm gonna use this one here. There's speakers. You could pick from your speakers. But now, what do you want to record? So this is the screen, do you want full screen? You can tell this is full screen with what area. If I look, you can see the handle is up here in the corner and goes all around the screen. I could drop down and do Custom or Target Window also. I want to point out though, if I go up, and let's say, if I just grab up here at the corner and start sizing, you can see now that whatever is highlighted, is where it's gonna be recorded. And if it's not highlighted, it won't be recorded. And as soon as I changed and grabbed those handles, it went to Custom here. And it shows me the new size that I'm working with, with a custom one that I just chose. But I can go quickly back to full screen. I record in full screen a lot of time 'cause I'm trying to record what's on my screen, but then I zoom up on different things. So let's take a look at the settings now. With these settings, this is where it's gonna be saved to. So we can change this by just clicking the folder and then selecting a different folder, and then Select Folder when you have what you want. We have our frame rate that you can choose from. I'm leaving this at 25 frames per second. We have Quality. We have three choices, Good, Better or Best. I'm leaving it at, I'm gonna leave it at Better here. Now we have Record Timers. So what this does is, if you knew you wanted to record something for an hour, we could select it, and then we could put in one hour here, or 60 minutes and then it would stop automatically after, but I'm not doing that in this case. So I'm just leaving that off. We have Mouse Clicks. So you know what do you want it to look like when you click on something, this will show the mouse clicks in the recording. And you can even have it play a sound on it. Now these hot keys are important to remember. We have F10, and you could change these if you wanted to. But with the FN + F10, this is gonna pause or resume. So if you're in middle of recording something, if you need it to pause, you could hit F10 and then it would pause, and then you could hit F10 again, and then it would start again. Now this is Start/Stop, where it's gonna be FN + F9 to stop and start.

Enable your webcam to record while screen recording with Filmora 11

Do you want to use the webcam to be recorded in it? So if I select this, you'll see there I am, right here. If I had different cameras on I could drop down and pick which one I wanted to. I can put this in different places of the screen. So if I move it down, let's say, if I wanted to be over here, this is where it's gonna be recorded. I could also size this if I want it to be larger. I could do that or I can make it smaller. So it depends on how you want it. I have a green screen behind me because I get rid of the green screen with mine, but I'm using a different program. And I'll just talk how that's different a little later on. But let's say we have everything ready here we got all our settings.
4:35

Start recording your computer screen

I'm gonna go ahead and hit record. It's gonna count me down. Now at this point here, let's say, if I was doing an Excel tutorial and I'm gonna open up Excel, and I wanted to be on this sheet first, and I'm just explaining these interactive text box, or check boxes that I've done on a different video, so I go through there. Let's say this was the first little part I wanted, and I'm just gonna hit FN + F9 and it's gonna stop.
5:01

End your recording

So it comes back to the, you still see the Wondershare Screen Recorder. I'm just gonna exit out of this. I'm just gonna, editing the smaller proxy clips is telling me this. I'm just gonna hit Yes, I could hit don't ask me again also, but this is the clip I just recorded here. Now I could start editing it here, editing this
5:25

Edit your screen recording video clip

by dragging it down below into a track. So at this point I could hit Play, (Jamie's recorded talking) and I'm talking, I can hear myself talk in this, and I could go through, but probably I don't want that first part here. So if I bring my playhead back here, I probably want it when it only gets to the Excel here, maybe on this first sheet, I can quickly start editing too. So I could grab, and just like this, I can trim the beginning. So now it's gonna start just like this. And I could do the same thing at the end. So, if there was some stuff at the end I didn't want, I could go back on it. Now, maybe I don't like how zoomed out. You can make some quick adjustments too, watch this. So if I just double-click on this clip, if I look under Transform, I can scale up here. So if I scale up, you can see it getting larger here, and maybe I put it like this. And maybe the next I record, oh, that doesn't work here. I'll hit okay. Now I'm a little bit more zoomed up. So even if you recorded the whole screen, you can change it on it. I could make cuts in the middle. So if I use the scissors here and snip, you can see I have two clips here. I could take out a chunk in the middle if I wanted to, and change the order, and drag things around on it. So it makes it very easy to record here. I do have a different video that explains on how to use Filmora 11 with all these different editing. And I go a lot more depth into that. Let's say if we wanted to bring other media into this here.
7:05

Import other media

So if I was gonna go ahead, I could click Import Media. I'm just gonna move this down. And let's say this intro right here, I could just drag in my intro, and it went right to the beginning. So if I, again, if I hit play here, you can see it go through. It's a little slow for what I like. I could change the speed. There's all these different, up here. If we go up, if I wanna change the speed, I could quickly adjust this in different ways, and you can see all the different things you can do. But if I wanted to speed it up, maybe if I wanna make it twice as fast. And now you can see it's a little bit faster as it goes through. I've brought in other media, you could bring in pictures, you could be using layers. Again, check out my other video tutorial.
7:55

Record another clip and add it to your video

But let's say if you want to record again, what you can do is go back to Record. Here we have, we could just Record Webcam if you want, or we could Record PC Screen again here. So if I go back to PC Screen, it's gonna open up the same thing that I did at the very beginning. You can see my webcam is still playing on. Maybe I decided, well, you know what? I don't want my webcam on for this, I am gonna turn this off. Now I'm just recording my screen. So I'm gonna hit Record again, and I'm just gonna open up Excel quickly and then close it again. So if I open up Excel, and we're talking about maybe more of Sheet2 and doing some things here with moving things down to this spot. But now let's say that's all I wanna record. I'm gonna go hit FN + F9, it stops again. And now I can close this. And I have another video that just got brought in here. So at this point, I can do my next one. 'Cause when I film, I film in chunks, and a lot of times I'll just piece it together with a couple of minutes at a time, and then do transitions in between. So again, I could grab this, I could trim it to get to the part where I wanted it to, place it in the right order to it, and very quickly, I've started to have my screen recorded into these different lessons.
9:22

Add titles to your video and other effects

But the other thing I like about Filmora, it's so easy to add all these other things too. So if you wanted to add titles to any of these, you can just simply go ahead and find what you want, drag them down, and it instantly puts a title on it. That wouldn't be a great one 'cause you can't really see it that well. But you can go through and start editing. I double-clicked on this, and I can go through and change color and different things on it. Again, check out my video for more things about titles to this. I'm just deleting this right now. We have Transitions, Effects, Audio, all these things that you can bring right into Filmora.
10:00

Export your finished video

So let's say you're all done, your video, you have your lesson, you want to have your finished product, you need to export it. So if I go ahead and hit Export, if you wanted to save it on your computer, you can choose from all these different formats here. So maybe you wanted to save it as an MP4, you can see it's in 1080p here. I would go ahead. I would give it a title. I would say where do I want to save it to? We do have some more settings. And then when I get everything set up, I could hit Export, and it'll be saved that spot where I told it to on my computer. Now then, I could upload it to YouTube or share it to how I want. I do wanna point out, you can go directly to YouTube or Vimeo here. If I log in with my YouTube credentials, I could log into my account, and it would export it right to YouTube, so it saves a step from there. So that's when you're done, what you do when you export it. Now I do wanna point out though, like, I do use Camtasia to make my videos, and what the difference would be, where you see the green screen here, it would come, the webcam puts itself on a different layer. And then I can use green screen to get rid of the green screen. In this case of this one, with the Filmora 11, I'm not able to do that, 'cause it's on the same layer on it. So I just wanted to point out the difference, and I will put a link to my Camtasia video down below so you can check that out too if you're looking for a good screen recorder. So I hope you like this little tutorial here today on how to use Filmora 11 to capture your screen, record your computer screen. And again, check out the "Filmora 11 Beginners Tutorial" that I have. And it'll go a lot more in depth into editing. Thanks for watching this time on Teachers Tech. I'll see you next time with more tech tips and tutorials.
