Quickly Make QR Codes in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint or Excel

hi there jamie here today at teachers tech hope  you're having a great day today i want to   show you how you can quickly add a qr generator to  either microsoft powerpoint word or excel so when   you go to a camera all you have to gonna do is go  to it on your mobile device hover over the qr code   wherever you insert it maybe it's in a powerpoint  and you want people to quickly uh get access to   your website or a certain document as soon as  they hover over it they can just touch it and   it will go to wherever you send it to so i want to  show you how you can do this today teachers tech

so first of all i want to show you how you can add  this to your microsoft word powerpoint or excel   and it works the same for all of them if you go up  to the tabs and look under insert right here and   when i'm looking in the ribbon look for add-ins  and this is right here where it says get add-ins   and then this is where you can go to the add-ins  what you have so i'm going to go ahead go to   add-ins and i'm going to search and all i'm going  to do is type qr and it will get to the one i want   now you can see there's a number of different ones  i was testing out different ones and i did find   i like this one the best the qr4 office  here so i'm just gonna go ahead and click   add and hit continue and it's that simple so  if i go to my add-ins and you can see it's open   on the side right now my add-ins right  here this is where it will show up here   if i right-click on this i can add gallery  to the quick access toolbar so if you wanted   to just have a quick access to it if i click it  it's going to go right here to this quick access   so you could just have it in this quick drop  down if you want you can right click on this and   remove this also so once you have this in  i just want to point out when you go to the   office add-ins you can delete it if you don't  like you can go ahead and remove it from here   so why would you want to use it in word well maybe  you have a document that you want to have a qr   code in maybe you want to print out qr codes and  you want to just place them in microsoft word so   you can see over here it's fairly easy to use in  the example i used my website and for my website i

know it's https and if i drop down i would choose  this and i would just go ahead and type the url of   my website which is just teachers. tech i have some  more options to customize if i wanted it not black   i could just pick a color i wanted and i  could change the background to match something   too notice there is size here i could increase  the size right now it's full size 125 by 125   it shows me where it's going to be going to also  here i'm going to increase the size here uh let's   see if i was putting it into a document like this  i was printing it out and putting it somewhere   where people could just walk by and scan it  maybe i want a little bit larger there is an   error correction so what this allows you to do  is to increase the percentage if you uh that   will help for any error correction but it will  make the uh the data of the qr add more data to   it also so i'm just leaving this as 15 and pretty  much that's all you have to do is then hit insert   i do want to point out though you can right click  on this and i could go and save this as an image   somewhere so if you wanted to just save it as  an image it's going to be a png file that you   could save on your computer and you could email  it to somebody else there i could also copy the   image from here but i could go now and just hit  insert like this and i have that exact same qr   code that i showed you at the beginning with my  phone i would hover over it and it would bring   me to my website now i want to point out right at  the top here you can do more than just going to   a website with a qr code you could put an email  address in so maybe you're doing a presentation   uh you're in powerpoint and you want a quick way  for people to email you they could if you change   it to mail to input the email address that's where  you would do there and you can even do sms and   there's even custom i do want to point out to just  thinking about rather other things than websites   you can go out so if i just open up a document so  i showed you the example of a website i could go   to maybe one of my youtube videos so i could just  go and copy this right here so if i just go ctrl c   and go back to here i could change it and just  paste it in the one thing i want to point out is   if you paste it in with this https you want to  get rid of this here so if i just go and delete   this like this and then you can see it will work  and if i hit insert now i have another qr code   right here and it's going to go to that one he  there you could do other things as well so maybe   you have a pdf in one drive so if i uh went over  back here and went to maybe one drive like this   you could pick a document out of your onedrive  so this could also be google drive it could be uh   even with dropbox if you're using that if you go  ahead and let's say a pdf i could go to this and   select this and maybe i want to share this here i  could go i'm going to go back and i'm just going   to hit share and copy link right here so as soon  as i copy the link this comes up here make sure   you pick up how you want to want it to be shared  so right now anybody with the link can edit this   is a pdf i'm not too worried about that you can  change these if you want only want specific people   but i'm going to go ahead and if we didn't allow  editing we would take that off but we can go ahead   and cancel copy and then i could go back over to  microsoft word and this time i could paste it in   over here so if i just control v it remember i  need to get rid of that beginning part here i'm   going and it updates here  if i go ahead and insert it i have this one   that will bring me to that pdf and you can do  this with other things also remember that if i go   over back and go into my maybe i have an excel  with my 365 online i could just copy paste these   here but again permissions matter so if i hit  share i could go and copy this link right here   and then do the exact same thing and create a qr  code so there's many things that you can create   qr codes here let me show you now with the example  on my phone of some of the things that we created

so i just switched over to powerpoint i put those  exact same examples in if you take a look under   the insert here you'll notice that the add-ins is  exactly the same as microsoft word as i showed you   and it works the same in excel so these are some  of the examples that we just made if i go and   open my camera up here and hover over them you can  see that was my website one that i showed you   in the demo and if i go back to my camera  again and this one was to a document here so this   one when i open this up it brings me to a pdf that  i had in my onedrive remember you can do this to   google or dropbox as well so if i go to my  camera again this one is just to a youtube video   and i'm just going to go ahead and change back  and then this one i changed it to an email so if   you wanted to quickly give out your email where  people could scan and it's in a presentation you   could go ahead and do that and then it will open  up whatever you have set so those are just some   different examples that i've created remember you  can do this in microsoft excel this is all free to   use when you add them and you can remove it if you  don't want it on your computer so i hope you like   this tip about how to add qr codes to microsoft  word powerpoint or excel let me know if this helps   you out or what you're looking for and i'll be  back next week with more tech tips and tutorials
