Should You Pay for an Ebay Store?

so that's why i would argue that starting with that plan really doesn't make a lot of sense and it's kind of a waste of money what's up everyone paul here from dropshippingtitans. com where i teach regular people just like you how to start your own successful ebay drop shipping store now starting an account on ebay is completely free but they do have these things called store subscriptions that do cost money so the question is why on earth would you pay for a store subscription when you can get started for free so first what are these store subscriptions giant lasers now i keep putting them in quotes because i hate that word i think it's bulky and just kind of confusing think of them as ebay plans similar to how we have cell phone plans you sign up for a 30

a month cell phone plan maybe you get five gigabytes of data for free or included with that and for every gigabyte you go over that they charge you ten dollars per gigabyte so if you do let's say seven gigabytes of data you get charged the fi the thirty dollars plus another twenty dollars on top of that so at some point it would make more sense to pay for the more expensive cell phone plan because you get more gigabytes included in it and this is very similar to how the store subscriptions work on ebay like i said in the beginning ebay does have a free plan you don't have to pay to sign up but ebay needs to make money somehow and they primarily do that two different ways the first is with insertion fees and insertion fees are how much money it costs to actually list an item or to create a listing on ebay and the price varies anywhere from five cents per listing all the way up to 35 cents per listing and we'll talk more about that in a minute the second way that ebay makes money is with their final value fee so every time you sell an item ebay takes a percentage of that sale and that price varies as well but what ebay does for us is that they give us a certain number of free insertions every single month meaning you can list up a certain number of items every single month without paying an insertion fee and that's where the store subscriptions come in because the more expensive of a plan you get the more free insertions you get every single month so if you're gonna sell more it's worth it to upgrade to a higher and higher store now in addition to the free plan there are actually five paid store subscriptions so what i'm going to do for you now is break down for you the benefits of each of the plans ready okay first we have the free plan

under the free plan you get 200 free listings after that each listing costs an additional 35 cents then we have the starter plan under the starter plan you get 250 free listings each listing after that costs another 30 cents then we have the basic store under the basic store you get 350 free listings each one after that costs 25 cents after that we have the premium store under the premium store you get 1 000 free listings each listing after that costs 10 cents then we have the anchor store gives you 10 000 free listings each one is 5 cents and then we have the enterprise store which gives you 100 000 free listings and each one cost 5 cents i did that all from memory so i think that deserves a thumbs up on this video and i also put up the cost of each of those plans on the screen as you see they vary all the way from being free up to three thousand dollars a month

now you might be tempted once you hit around 200 listings to upgrade from the free plan to a starter plan but i would actually argue that is a mistake because there's a big benefit once you hit the basic store under the free and starter store your final value fee is actually higher than it is with all the other plans and even though it's just a little bit it actually makes a big difference so that's why i would argue that starting with that plan really doesn't make a lot of sense and is kind of a waste of money start with the basic store or hire i would actually jump right into that as a new seller but yes signing up for a store subscription is totally worth it for all the benefits

but there is one exception here there is one time when you should not pay for store subscription on ebay even though i just said you should always sign up for the basic store even as a new seller if you feel like that is going to hold you back from getting started on ebay you should stick with the free plan i know for a lot of you money is tight are just starting your first online business and you want to keep it as lean as possible without as much of an investment into it as possible if that is you then you should absolutely not use this as an excuse to hold you back just get started on the free plan and that's actually where i came from when i first started selling on ebay before i i tried all these other online businesses i spent a lot of money learning about them investing in them and they went absolutely nowhere so i wasted a lot of money so coming into ebay i didn't have that much that i really wanted to invest into it so i started with the free plan and then once i started to see money coming in saw traction then i upgraded to one of the paid plans so i don't want to hear from any of you that you're not starting on ebay because you're waiting to be able to afford the monthly cost of the basic store don't do that just get started on the free plan that ebay has you can always upgrade later and this is especially true if you want to start an ebay drop shipping store because i know a lot of you want to start that because the cost of it are so low and if you want to keep the cost that low then yeah i would definitely start with the free plan in fact if you want to learn exactly how much money it costs to start an ebay drop shipping store i have a really great video for you to check out next you can click on that right here that's going to break down for you all the costs of starting an ebay drop shipping store everything that goes into it so if you need that question answer for you if you want to know exactly how much money to budget click on that video i'll see you there in just one second
