How Much Does It Cost To Start eBay Dropshipping (in 2020)?

so how much does it cost to start an eBay dropshipping business in 2020 well if you're looking to get started with e-commerce and you don't have a big budget then this is going to be a perfect video for you because I'm going to explain a model that works in 2020 even if you have a small budget what's up everyone welcome back to the channel if you haven't done so already consider subscribing to the channel for more content about drop shipping and ebay and amazon now even though it's a start of a new year I wanted to take things back to when I first started to explore online sales ecommerce because back then I was trying a business model that really just didn't work for me and I want to share the story because I see a lot of people making the same mistake the model that I was using back then required a lot of up front capital a lot of money to get started and at the time I didn't have a lot to invest I just graduated college and law school I just started my job I wasn't making a lot of money yet so it was a really bad time for me to invest in a business that required a lot of money up front before I started to make any profit and maybe a lot of you can relate to that because after I started that business I inevitably couldn't keep running it because I ran out of money and I gave up on it I just didn't have the budget to make it work now I'm not saying that business model doesn't work it just wasn't the one for me because I didn't have a lot of money to invest at that time so what I really needed was something that cost very little money to get started in fact zero dollars to get started because by that point I had blown through my entire budget I had nothing to work with and luckily I did discover something it's called eBay dropshipping so in this video I'm going to break down how much ebay drop shipping costs to get started in 2020 now there are certainly ways to get started for more money than this like a more expensive way to get started but I wanted to really break this down it showed the most inexpensive option available because I always get questions from people like hey Paul when I start do I have to use all these different software have a virtual assistant to run my business with me my answer is almost always no to those questions because if you hire a virtual assistant or several virtual assistants you might see that it costs more money to run your ebay drop shipping business and that scares a lot of people they'll see that it does take time to get the store going to start to generate consistent sales and if it's taking you time to do that and costing you more money because you've hired all these virtual assistants and have all this software that you don't need then that's when people get scared they shut down their store and they leave the whole system entirely now when I start a new store I do hire a virtual assistant right away but what I'm doing is I'm taking profit from one of my other stores and investing it into this new store but when you're starting you definitely shouldn't be using one if you don't have the budget for one especially if you are brand new and you don't know what you're doing because you have to learn it first before you can teach it to a virtual assistant so let's now break down what it is that you do need when you first dropship onto eBay so the first thing that you're going to need is go into my computer you'll see of course that you need to sign up for an eBay account and that is 100% free for beginners yes eBay does have different store plans they call them store subscriptions that you can sign up for and there are big benefits to using those store subscriptions it does things like lower your fees and gives you more free listings things like that but in the beginning you definitely do not need that you can definitely start with a free store if you are on a really tight budget the second thing that you're going to need when you're starting an ebay drop shipping business as of right now you will need to sign up for a PayPal account and PayPal is also free so the way it works is people buy the item on ebay but then they're sent to PayPal to actually pay for the item so you'll need one of those but that's also free for you to use now the third thing that you need to do when you start drop shipping onto eBay is you have to find the right products to sell we call this product research now product research there is a lot of software out there to help you with product research and that software does work it's really powerful the software that we use but you do not need that software when you start you can do your research manually because on eBay's website they actually tell you what items have been selling well and that's a ticket here you want to find items that are already selling

well so here on ebay for instance we see let's see these items right here let's even find something that's been selling this one sold 17 times right here and you'll see I found this on Walmart right here so the process is you're going to find these items you can do this manually you don't need software until you can afford it when definitely get it but in the beginning you do not need that software and later on in this video I'll tell you how you can learn how to do this product research to actually find the items that are selling well without using software or with using software okay so once you have the item it is now time to actually list it for sale on eBay now eBay allows you of course to create a listing on their website so what you could do the old way of doing things is you copy down the title and you paste it in here and you would copy this and then paste this into eBay and that works that's definitely free but it does take a lot of time and I want to show you a faster way that's very inexpensive so we use this software called Auto DES and what the software does is a lot of different things but I'll show you one thing specifically and that's how you can quickly list items with it so all I did was copy the URL from Walmart and they pasted it here and what it's done now is it's pulled in the title image all the item specifics all the images made a really nice looking description here and all I have to do is click Save product and schedule and that item would be listed inside my eBay account in a matter of seconds and what it also does is it's now linked this item on Walmart with my listing on ebay so if the price changes on Walmart the price will automatically change on eBay for you now full disclosure here I did lie a little bit in the beginning I said the cost to get started would be $0 but Auto D s if you wanna try it out it is a $1 trial to get started using my link in the description of this video so that's just $1 I know it's not $0 but it's pretty darn close so the running total now is just $1 and we've already gotten through four of the five steps for getting started with eBay dropshipping now the fifth step here is once the item actually sells on eBay you then have to buy it from Walmart and ship it directly to the customer but consider this you don't actually buy the item at all until after the money has hit your PayPal account also eBay and PayPal do charge us fees every time we sell an item on eBay but we are only paying those fees after the item sells so what we do is we build into the price on eBay the cost of the item on Walmart plus shipping plus the eBay fee plus the PayPal fee plus profit that way when we sell the item we can pay all our fees buy the item and still make a profit and again if the price changes on Walmart Autodesk's we'll make sure the price changes on eBay automatically so that we don't lose money on our sale and we never ever have to touch or see the products now I also have a bonus for you as well when you buy the item on Walmart or whatever supplier you're going to use one of these cash back credit cards or a bonus points credit card this is my favorite one the capital one spark cards because it gives you two percent cash back or two times miles so when you first start selling on eBay PayPal is not going to release the money to you right away what happens is you sell the item you then have to buy it from Walmart ship it directly to the customer then once the item arrives at the customers address then PayPal will release the money to you so what you buy the item with your credit card get the points then once PayPal releases the money to you can then use that money to pay off the card and then after a month or two months or three months PayPal will actually release that money to you right away but I would still use the cash back credit cards because it's literally free money for you and that's it those are the five steps so just to recap step 1 we are going to sign up for a free ebay account step 2 PayPal account step 3 research products to sell and that's completely free step 4 list items using my $1 trial and 5 buy the item and ship it to the customer and all of that is built into the price of the item so the total price to get started here just to get started is $1
