Segment 1 (00:00 - 05:00)

One of the easiest things candidates do to make a good impression during the interview process is have great questions to ask at the end of their interview. But most candidates don't actually do this and it can end up costing them big time. And this is no different at Visa. At Visa, they're going to want you to have great questions to ask at the end of the interview and if you don't, well, it can hurt you. In today's video, I'm going to give you five powerful questions you can ask in your Visa interview so you can stand out as a great and hireable candidate. Now, this is video four of a four-part series. So, if this is the first video you're seeing, make sure you go back to the playlist and watch the first three videos. They're going to really help you out in terms of establishing yourself as a great candidate. And make sure you stay to the very end cuz at the very end, I'm going to put another really powerful video right here on the screen that's going to help you in this interview and every other interview you ever do. All right, with that being said, let's get started. Now, the first question I want you to ask is what does this person need to accomplish in the first 12 months of being hired in order for you to consider this hire to be a success. Now, this is a great question because one, it shows the hiring manager that you're a very success-oriented person and you're looking at the role and you're wondering, up front, what do I need to do for you to be like, great, you did exactly what I was hoping you would do. It's a success-oriented question. Hiring managers tend to love that. Additionally, you're going to get a lot of really good information here. For example, if you ask them this question and they actually don't know what to say, they're not sure what success looks like, that is very concerning. And you might want to consider not taking that job, period. It is very hard to work for someone who doesn't know what winning looks like in that role. What if they answer but their questions or their answer is really unrealistic? Like they have all these goals set up for a person that no normal person would actually be able to solve or do in that year. Well, you want to know that information, too. It's really helpful. You would never sign up for a goal you felt you couldn't hit, right? That that's just bad news. On the flip side, maybe they lay out an incredibly intentional and articulate plan that you are totally on board with. That's good information to have. Either way, you want to know these things. Let's go to the next. Okay, so the next question I want you to ask is how does this person's role contribute to Visa's strategy in the payment ecosystem? Right, this is a good question, right? Because you want to know like, what am I doing here? How does it help us achieve our end goal? And it just kind of allows the hiring manager to articulate your fit in all this. And if again, if they can do this, they can do this seamlessly, that that bodes well for you. Like that they truly understand the impact of this person. And when they struggle with it, it's cause for concern. But from their perspective, they like a question like this because it allows them to talk about the strategy, how you'd be involved in the strategy, and if they say things like, well, this person's really going to be doing blank and you have experience with that thing, when they're done answering, you can say, you know, that was really interesting. You mentioned during the answer that you said the person's going to be involved with blank. That's actually something I did at A B and C company and I consider it to be one of my strengths. So, I'd be excited to bring that to this role. And that right there is how you like double up on what they're saying, what this person needs to do, and position yourself as a great candidate. Okay, another great question is what are the biggest challenges that someone in this role will face early on? I love asking this question because hiring managers don't get it a lot. They're okay to ask you, what's your biggest weakness, but they hardly ever get, what's the hardest part about this role? So, you're likely to get a very authentic answer from them. Um and I would want to know this stuff. Right, if I'm going to be taking a job, I want to know, what are the most challenging things I'm going to have to do? Do you know what those things are? Are you aware? Um right, I wouldn't say that, but that's the information you get. So, I love this question. It's a question they rarely get. You're going to get some really authentic answer in all likelihood and it allows you to weigh the option like, okay, that sounds challenging. Am I okay with that? Or, yeah, that's it. I've got this, right? Either way, it's a great question. Highly encourage asking it. And this question I want you to ask is, what is your favorite part about working at Visa? Or what attracted you to Visa in the first place? Or what keeps you at Visa? Any one of these questions, they're all kind of the same based on how long they've worked there, is a great question because it allows them the opportunity to talk. And the reality is, people tend to have a more positive recollection of interactions the more they get to talk. Specifically, when it's something they get to talk about when they're passionate about something. It's really good because it allows you to get a glimpse into their why, what they like doing, what they're interested in. Another really good question is, what distinguishes top performers from average performers on your team? And this is purely getting down to like, hey, what is the difference here? What has been historically the difference between people who you think are just okay and amazing? This again allows you to respond. If they say, well, it really it comes down to drive and motivation. You can say, you know, it's great hearing you say that. I think drive and motivation are actually something that's allowed me to succeed

early on in my career. In fact, I would say they've been pivotal when I worked for A B and C company and I led project in which I increased revenue by 15% over a 12-month period, right? It allows you to respond in a way that gives you an additional opportunity to sell, but it also gives you an idea of what do they value? What's important to them? Where are some people excelling and some people falling short? Because if you do take that job, you're going to want to make sure that you are excelling like those other people. Now, another thing that really can impact whether or not you get hired is the psychology of job interviews. And if you don't understand certain psychological principles, you might find yourself on the outside looking in and it's why I made this video here. This video here touches on different psychological factors that can allow you to win interviews. So, I'm done here, but I'll see you over there.
