hey how's it going everyone paul here from dropshipping titans comm someone to hop on a quick video cuz i got a really good question about best offers on eBay and whether I do them myself actually the question was do they work do best offers even work and do I do them and do I recommend them that people use best offers so if you're not familiar with what best offers are let's say you have an item that's listed up for sale and it's not an auction item let's just say it's a item that's Buy It Now price of $97 well you can check off a box while you list it to allow offers so that someone could come in and say hey I know this is $97 but will you take $90 for it and you might come back and say no but I'll take 95 for it and then they could say yes and then you have a deal and then you sold it for 95 instead of 97 the benefit of this is that if you have an item it's $97 buyer might be looking at that and say you know I'm not willing to pay 97 I'm willing to pay 95 and not a dollar more and you might be saying well I would like to sell it for 97 but I would take 95 if that's the highest someone would go so it allows you to do that question is does it work does it in theory it sounds like it work but in practice does it actually work and yeah it does so it's exactly as I described the you've got a lot of these back-and-forth swith people but you do end up making you know more sales from it do you make a lot in my experience no but it does help a little bit now recently eBay made a change so that even if a buyer sends you a message you can respond to the message and make an offer so in the past only sellers or sorry only buyers could start the bidding the negotiating process by making an now us sellers can do it as well as long as we are responding to a message like that so they do work and for new sellers I do recommend them because it will help you generate more sales that you otherwise wouldn't have gotten but I don't do them anymore because I have found them to be such a huge pain for myself as a grown up my business to the scale that is now let me explain why that is some of its pretty obvious so going back and forth with people can be annoying every time they make a counteroffer you have to look at the price make sure it makes sense make sure you can still make a profit there you run the calculations and you know for a few of them that's okay but after you scale up like at the point I'm at now it just becomes kind of one's unstable or unsustainable especially when my virtual assistants would be doing that for me and I really want to give them clear guidance on when they would accept an offer and when they wouldn't and it's kind of hard to do that it's just so much easier to go into my repricing software and tell them hey this is how much I want you to sell it for this is the profit margin apply to all the items and that's it if I did best offers and I wanted to make any sort of change like that I would have to tell my virtual assistants hey look only accept offers that are more than that are less than sorry this percentage and not less you know if a virtual assistant or you make a mistake you could end up selling an item at a loss and not even realize it and the software it prevents it from happening if you don't do best offers so that's one reason why it's such a pain the other reason is just because you get a lot of people who are just going to make you lowball offers and it's kind of like come on really like this is a hundred dollar item you're offering me $50 for you are you serious about this and you know some of them do it because they expect you to come back your lowest counteroffer but that it was just kind of bugged me you know I think people should play fairly these people should put in an offer for the real value that they think it is people play the game differently and they get mad at you if you don't play it the way they want so if someone would give me like making a $50 offer and $100 item I would just reject it right away I wouldn't even do a counteroffer and then they would get mad at me about it the other thing that way that comes up is now that I don't do best offers I've turned it off for most of my items but it's almost

impossible when you have a lot of items to turn off your offers for all your items there's like a dozen items that I still haven't been able to turn off best offers for because you can't until there's no more offers left on that item and what happens is somebody makes an offer and you have to wait something like 24 hours before it fully gets rejected and so then you wait like 24 hours and then someone else makes an offer so during that time you can't turn off best offers so I still have best offers for a few items we don't even respond to them and customers get mad at us about it so that's kind of a pain as well and the other pain about them is that what's gonna say about it yeah kind of it does also kind of mess up your accounting a little bit I mean just in terms of you know when you make a sale what your profit margins are in that item or what they should be but when you get best offers you can look at your numbers for the month and like well it should be around you know maybe 12 percent but I made those offers as low as like 8% margins sometimes so somewhere between 8 and 12 percent you know you should be running your numbers every month anyway but it's nice and no kind of an estimate at any time how much money you're making and that becomes a little bit more difficult with best offers as well what else was there that I didn't like about them yeah the other thing is like when you get a read when you make a best offer or accept the best offer and then there's a return it's kind of like seriously you went back and forth of me making this negotiating this price and you get the item and then you want to return it it's just like come on like things like that are just like so freaking annoying about that but the other big problem with best offers is from my account I've hit the feature on that says that if someone buys the item they have to pay for it right away and so if I'm not talking about best offers like if someone buys my item without an offer then they will have to pay for it right away so I like it better that way because if you don't have that checked off then someone can buy your item and actually not pay for it of course you wouldn't be expected to ship it out until it gets paid for it but it's you have to wait for them to pay for it and sometimes they don't so I've turned it on so that's not allowing so if someone buys it to have to pay for it right away with best offers though if someone makes an offer and I accept it they don't have to pay for it right away so you run into that same problem again so that's the reason why I don't do them anymore it's just not sustainable at the scale that I'm at right now but at least for my business I know other people who do it who are just you know I that same level as me but I don't understand how they do it honestly but for most new sellers I do recommend it because it is an easy way to capture some extra sales especially when you're more hands-on with the business and you can kind of look at it and say you know what I'm willing to make a sale here even though it wasn't the profit margin that I wanted just to kind of get an extra sale here you know that will help me a little bit so that would be my recommendation to new sellers but don't be afraid to turn it off once you start to scale up and it just becomes a nightmare for you like it was for me so if you guys got some value at this video I would appreciate it if you gave the video a thumbs up make sure to subscribe to the channel for more content like this about eBay and to do content about amazon drop shipping and leave a message down below letting me know if you guys do best offers whether you like them don't like them and what you like and don't like about them whether you agree with me or not I know a lot of you use best offers and you probably disagree with me so let me know in the comment section down below I love to hear your thoughts on it thanks so much for watching guys I'll see you next time bye
