Segment 1 (00:00 - 02:00)

I went to uh to Spain to do PRP. I did it four days in between every shot. So, I did it four times. — Let's break down the evidence behind PRP and why the Dawn's hamstring recovery is taking so long. This all dates back to Feb 5th, just before the All-Star break, where Luca suffered a mild strain that cost him about 10 days. But return to play does not mean the tissue fully remodeled. Even after return, biologic adaptation can continue for months, sometimes up to 6 to 12 months. About seven and a half weeks later against OKC, Luca was already dealing with recurrent symptoms in that same area coming out of halftime. So if the tissue was already mildly reagravated, the failure point changes. Now the strain isn't happening to fresh tissue. It's happening to an older injury that was still remodeling and now newly irritated. That's how a mild strain can progress into a grade 2 reinjury. So what did Luca have injected? PRP stands for plateletri plasma and orthobiologic made from a concentrated portion of your own blood. When tissue gets injured, platelets help stop bleeding and release healing signals similar to how a cut clots, scabs over and gradually heals with time. Luca repeatedly grabbed near the same bicep femeris junction region during the original injury, reagravation, and eventual grade two strain. That region acts like a force transfer bridge connecting muscle to tendon to bone. Injuries here tend to heal slower and occur more often than pure muscle belly strains. This is part of the reason why physicians believe PRP may have the biggest role in MTJ or tendon dominant hamstring injuries. The evidence for PRP in grade 2 hamstring strains is evolving and mixed. The newest 2026 meta analysis included six randomized control trials with 277 athletes. These found PRP shortened return to play by about 8. 6 days on average. One of the strongest grade 2 studies combined ultrasound guided hematoma aspiration with PRP injection to help clear damaged blood products before treatment. But overall evidence quality is still considered low to moderate and elite rehab itself is probably the highest driver of recovery. Luca receiving PRP every fourth day four times also isn't strongly represented in published hamstring literature, although some elite orthobiologic centers may use more aggressive protocols based on internal experience. Wishing the dawn a safe and speedy recovery.
