Advancing Surgical Robotics at Neuralink

The goal of the robotics team at Neuralink is to deliver the Neuralink implant in a safe and scalable manner to as many people as possible. One of the great parts about working here at Neuralink is that there's an opportunity for tons of like very quick iteration and prototyping and testing on the robot. To the right of me, there's six robots and they're like testing new changes continuously. We are constantly learning new things. We always look at what could be better about this robot. Nobody I've seen goes to engineering school trying to make 5% improvements to a product. We all studied this so that we could make the 10x jumps. And when you start thinking about how do you make a product 10x better, your solution space opens up entirely. We need people that want to work at the frontier of tech. There's no precedent to what we're doing. From an engineering perspective, it's really exciting to come in and find creative solutions to get the robot to the next level. What that means is putting more sensors in, more safety, better actuators, faster actuators. There's more compute, there's more power. And so, we can go faster and help more people. Long term, we're looking at ways to increase the depth and accessibility of the robot and then also continuing to streamline the surgical process. The robot is one part of that experience, but there's a lot of other steps that need to get solved and combine them together to provide an amazing experience that compares to LASIK surgery. I think it's important for people to know that you don't have to have like a medical background to join here. As long as you're a good engineer, there is a place for you here. Specifically, we're looking for software engineers with some robotics background, firmware engineers, electrical engineers, mechanical and manufacturing. In the long run, we want to build a whole brain interface and solve any problem that originates in someone's brain. We're never going to stop iterating. making progress. We want to go faster and help more people.
