Half of all Fortune 500 were founded during a crisis. Either a recession, a war, something was going on when everybody else was pulling back that these businesses moved forward and succeeded because of it. And if you're a small business right now and you're feeling that economic pinch and you're feeling like, "Oh crap, maybe I should pull back. Maybe I should wait it out. " This is for you. What you need to understand is that stress will literally narrow your focus. But it also narrows your mental focus because what happens is your prefrontal cortex, which is right here, it's what I'm pointing to this. This is the part of your brain that strategizes, that problem-solves, that plans, that looks ahead, that figures things out. It's that smart, intelligent part of you that you are so proud of when it's online. But when you are stressed out, it turns offline. Your limbic system turns on and your limbic system is a diva queen. She is freaking out. She wants to hide under the covers. He wants to just run away. Like the that part of your brain wants to make you terrified because it safe. So anytime that it is faced with danger, [clears throat] it is going to tell you to either fight or flight, right? And most of us flight or freeze in these types of situations. So if this part of the brain is turning on, turn off. And if this part of the brain turns off, you will miss out on the opportunities that are right in front of you. On the things that you can do that are going to make your business successful. So, here's how you use this in your favor. I have been consulting small businesses for close to a decade now. And what I have seen is that the ones that can keep this part of the brain activated can make the strategic decisions to move forward. And what happens is as all of your competitors are pulling back, they're turning off their ads, they're giving discounts, they're doing all of the things, they're scrambling or they're freezing or they're doing nothing. They're taking the hit, but if you are the brave one that's like, "Ooh, opportunity. Fortune 500, here I come. " And you move forward when everybody else is pulling back, this puts you at the forefront when this situation, the economic downturn, turns around because they always do turn around. During our last economic downturn, which was when COVID happened, when everything was shutting down, when businesses were going out of business, I had clients that were launching and were making 10, 20K a month working part-time during the shutdown. This is what can happen if you keep this part of your brain turned on. This is why I am teaching my panic to profit class.
