Genesis Mission | Advancing science through AI

The Genesis mission is a platform that the Department of Energy uh put together uh brings together academia, industry, and 17 national laboratories and really push the idea of uh bringing artificial intelligence, or short AI, into a position where we super boost the benefits of using AI to drive new developments, inventions, technology. Fermilab has a unique contribution to the Genesis mission. Fermilab has been a long time involved in high energy physics experiments, and they have naturally been at the core of producing a lot of very complicated data and massive data streams and storing this data for exploitation. The ability to use AI on these data streams and on the data is something that uh Fermilab is uniquely set up to do because we actually are the host of one of the largest data sets uh that are produced worldwide uh coming from the LHC and so on. We have the people uh that have been involved in applying neural networks, which are the basis of uh the AI technology, uh to these systems, but it's really the computing power now uh that we have available here at Fermilab to apply these models and extract uh data and super boost developments as we go forward.
