Segment 1 (00:00 - 02:00)

Hey guys, ChrisFix here. I have a couple quick  car hacks that I think you'll find useful. So,   let's get started. First, if you want to undo  a cable tie without cutting it because you need   to reuse it in a pinch, all you need to do is  grab a pliers and squeeze the head of the cable   tie. And now you can remove it without cutting  it. Just like that. And now, the nice thing is   you could reuse this cable tie in a situation  where you might not have another one. Next,   have you ever tried to remove a bolt from a pulley  and the pulley just spins even if you try to hold   it or if the belt is attached? Well, it's very  easy to remove this. All you need to do is pick   the bolt you want to remove and set it to the 3:00  position on the pulley. Then get your hammer and   hammer downwards. And now that the bolt is broken  loose, it could be removed the rest of the way by   hand. Next, I feel like I do a pretty good job at  keeping my tools relatively clean, especially for   something I use every day. So, my trick is to use  these multi-purpose cleaning wipes. They come in a   container like this. One side is smooth, the other  side has a grit to it. I like to use the gritty   side on the tools. And watch at how well this  works to clean off all the grit and grime from   this ratchet handle. Same thing for the snap ring  pliers. Look at how quickly this works. And if you   use power tools, it works on this as well. And  it works on other stuff, too. And in this case,   it cleans off this coolant hose. Just check out  that difference. So, that's my trick on how I   keep my tools clean. Next, if you need to check a  fuse like this, but you don't have a multimeter,   well, you could use a phone, which everyone  has. Just take the fuse and stand it up on   any of the numbers. And if the fuse is good, it  will transfer your touch to the screen like so.    Now it's popped the fuse. And if we try this  again, now you can tell the fuse is bad because   it's not transferring the touch. So this is a  great trick to test fuses in an emergency. Next,   if you have disorganized tools in your toolbox,  like these wrenches or these pipe cleaners,   the trick that I use to keep them organized are  carabiners. So just grab all the pipe cleaners   you want to keep together and slide the ends  of the pipe cleaner onto the carabiner like   so. And there you go. Now it's organized. So let's  grab the other pipe cleaners. And now we have an   organized drawer. Same for the wrenches. And the  best thing is now they're portable. So you can   take the whole thing to your work area and check  to see what size bolt you need to remove. That way   you don't have to go back and forth to the toolbox  and grab a different wrench each time. Next, if   you have a can of paint like this and you're done  using it for the day, but you still have plenty   left over and you want to save it. If you just  take your lid and try to seal it like that, you   have all that air in there which could harden the  paint and ruin the paint for you. So the trick is   to grab one of these compressed air dusters. Now,  these compressed air cans use hydrocarbon alkanes   or hydrofluorocarbons as propellant, which are  heavier than normal air. So, by spraying it into   here, it pushes out all that oxygen, and oxygen is  what cures the paint. So, now the paint won't cure   by accident, and it'll last a good long time. And  finally, if your engine is leaking oil from the   drain plug, but you don't need to change the oil  in your car. Well, here's how to remove this drain   bolt without removing all the oil. First, you're  going to remove the fill cap on the valve cover.    Then you're going to take a shop vac and you're  going to connect it right here. Now turn the   vacuum on and unscrew the oil pan drain bolt. And  you can see the vacuum keeping the oil from coming   out. Now you can put the missing crush washer  on the bolt, handtighten it, and snug it up.
