The Default Environment in the Power Platform - What Is It?

Power Platform Environments 101, the default environment. If you're going to use the Power Platform, it's very important to know about environments because there are different types of environments and they are suited for different things. The first environment you are going to be associated with in the Power Platform is the default environment. This environment gets automatically created for each tenant and has typically the tenant's name {parentheses} default. But, some organizations go ahead and rename it to personal productivity, as suggested by Microsoft. Because this environment is just meant for small, personal, lightweight apps and flows. It is not meant for your enterprise grade Power Platform assets. Why is that? Well, the default environment, as I mentioned, is the first environment you're going to be associated with by default, but it is also the first environment anyone in your organization who has a Power Platform license is going to be associated with. So, everyone in your organization is going to be in there and everyone is assigned the role of maker by default and there's no way to change that. So, everyone has access to this environment, everyone is a maker in this environment and everyone can see everything everyone is doing. So, there is the possibility for accidental edits cuz someone might accidentally mess with something you've created. Also, often admins of this environment might go in and restrict your usage of certain connectors and features. So, you don't always have full access to everything in the default environment. This environment, while being the first environment you're associated with, is really just meant for small experimentation, a little bit of personal things here and there, but it is not meant for your enterprise grade applications.
