<Untitled Chapter 1>

hi I'm Jamie Kea teacher Tech tonight we're going to talk about images inside Google slides and Google Docs um so they're kind of the same how you insert them but there's a little bit of differences how to get some of the same um attributes to them too so I'm just going to go ahead and start in Google
0:17

insert a an image

Docs here and I'm going to insert a uh an image here and I'm just going to pick this ice cream image here uh and the first thing I'm going to do to this image right away is crop it let's say if I don't want the whole image I just want to focus on the ice cream right here all I need to do is select the picture and hit crop and then bring my Handles in I'm going to bring it in from the top and bottom and just hit enter here uh you can also bring in the corners too if you want to keep everything in uh proportion uh you can bring it in like so and hit enter and crop uh if you wanted to added border uh around your image just use these uh buttons right up here uh so you can I can click I'll pick a thick one so it's easy to see I can change my color on it like so um or I can change it to a dotted one around another option I have inside uh my uh Google Docs here is if I go over to my uh image options here so I can uh do a recolor on it so if I pick this blue one right here and if that's what I wanted I could leave it like that or I could just go back to no recolor uh so uh another one you can do is the adjustment transparency so if you want to be able to see through your picture you can

adjust the transparency

adjust the transparency so if you had something uh maybe you had words behind it or another image behind it so you'd be able to see through it uh you can reset the adjustments anytime you make any changes here and um you can do the same thing with brightness and with your contrast again you can just reset it at the end uh I'm just going to hop over to uh Google slides to show you it's mainly the same thing and how they have a couple extra things just are handy uh to uh for you to do uh so again I'm just going to insert the same image here I'm going to go back to my ice cream one and like we've talked before they have the cropping tool um that we can take advantage of I'm not going to go through all the same process that I just did but the difference with Google Slides what they have is uh the masking tool right beside it here too so if you have an image you can create uh you can mask it
2:18

mask it inside of a shape

inside of a shape so for instance if I want this ice cream inside one of these call outs I just can select it like so and then it will change it so I can always go back to it um at the same time so it's just this little one beside the uh beside the crop and I can choose a different one and it will adjust it I can change the size of this too um to uh and move it around uh just like other images too uh so just like in Google Docs it has all the same uh image option choices you can see it's already open on the side I can recolor it change the transparency and brightness I'm just going to real quickly put in a um I'll just put in a shape here I'll just put a square shape here uh just to show you something here and I'll just recolor it and you can see if you ever wanted to layer things in a different uh in a different order you can always right click if I right click and then under order I can send it back you can see now that the rectangle is behind it and then just so you can see the transpar transparency I was talking about before if I adjust my transparency now you can see the rectangle through it so those are some things to think about when you're planning and designing any of your presentations uh they have it really easy eily accessible especially with the masking if you want to mask inside your Google Docs what you have to do is uh if you go to insert again I'm just going to delete this picture and I'm going to put it back in a different way I'm going to insert um this one through drawing this time and I'm just going to insert an image into my drawing and I'll do the search for that same ice cream not that it really matters if it's the same one but here we go I'll pick it and once this goes into here at this point I can actually take advantage of the masking in here so you notice that there's that little arrow beside it that I can use and create my call if I want to use the call outs but again I don't have to use just the call outs I can use any of the uh the shapes that are there um I'll just use uh where's the heart oh sure I'll use the heart and then I can adjust the

adjust the size

size and then uh I can put save and close and then add any of the other uh features that um I want before and you can go back um and uh edit it into it before too so uh anyway those are some kind of a cool features that kind of pay attention to in your images um between Google Docs and Google Slides I hope you like those little tips I know a lot of my kids are always inserting images and this is just a few different ways to make the images more attractive
