Important eBay Updates! You need to know this!

there have been some big changes the eBay this month that as a seller you have to be aware of in order to be successful there are also some major changes coming up that you have to stay on top of because it's gonna impact us in a big way as sellers luckily for you guys I'm gonna go over all of it right now in this video but real quick if you liked this guys make sure to give it a thumbs up and subscribe to the channel but let's get right into it so first ebay

has made some major changes to their store subscriptions that are available so let's go over what I'm talking about what are these store subscriptions well

when you start selling on eBay you're going to get a free account or as eBay likes to call a non store and when you have a non store eBay is going to charge you every time you list an item however you're gonna get 50 listings for free after that each listing is gonna cost you thirty five cents this is one of the changes eBay has made it used to be thirty cents and now it's thirty five cents at the end of every month this is going to reset so in other words you're going to get 50 for the month of May and then you're gonna fit get 50 for the month of June but just keep in mind that every time an item relist itself so let's say you list an item in May and it relist itself 30 days later in June that counts as one of your free listing so just keep that in mind when you have a non store eBay is also gonna charge you what's called a final value fee for every item that you sell they're going to take 10% of the cost of that item to keep for themselves one thing you can do

is upgrade to a store and that can save you some money and this chart is something I've put together just to show you all the plans that are available and when's the best time to upgrade from one plan to the next so as you see there is a free plan which we just went over there is a starter this is a new plan that eBay just put out there is the basic plan premium plan Anker plan and the enterprise plan is also a brand new plan that eBay just released on May 1st of 2018 so looking down the chart let's look at the starter plan right here you'll see that the monthly cost is 795 but if you pay for a whole year upfront it's just for 95 per month times 12 whatever math that is with that plan you get a hundred free listings and the insertion fees are only 30 cents so if your listing 73 items a month then you want to upgrade from the free plan to the starter plan that's when it becomes worth it you'll see then to upgrade to a basic plan you want to do that at a hundred and sixty six listings - the premium plan is four hundred and thirty-eight listings the anchor is three thousand seven hundred fifty listings and the enterprise plan becomes worth it at sixty four thousand listings and you see some of these other things change as you upgrade so your final value fee drops from 10% to nine point one five your insertion fees drop to 25 cents and ten cents and five cents and the number of free listings goes from fifty all the way up to a hundred thousand with the enterprise plan but that one costs almost $3,000 a month another thing to keep in mind is that

upgrading to a paid store does not increase your listing limits so in other words every month you have a limit on the number of items that you can list in your store so let's say your limit is a hundred items so you can list up to 100 items 50 of them you're going to list with no insertion fee because remember we went over right here that you get 50 free listings with a non store plan so those first 50 will be free after that the next 50 they're gonna charge you 35 cents each also keep in mind this is a little bit confusing but eBay counts as a listing any item that's listed plus any item that's sold in other words let's say you have a listing limit of a hundred items and you have listed 75 items you would think you would then be able to list 25 more but if you've sold 20 items then you you're already used up 95 of your listing limit and you only have 5 left so those are the major changes to the

store subscriptions that eBay has rolled out as of May 1st again it's the starter plan the enterprise plan and some changes to the insertion fees the other

big change that eBay made is that they now have a reduced number of return policy options so you can now have returns not accepted at all a 30-day buyer paid returns 30-day free returns 60-day buyer paid returns or 60 day free returns we no longer have the option of doing 14 day returns and we had no longer have the option of charging a restocking fee this is not something I'm too upset about personally I've gone back and forth with charging his stuff restocking fee and without it's nice having a restocking fee but it doesn't make a huge difference and I've been doing 30-day returns anyway because I think it's what's preferred by the buyer anyway so for that one it doesn't really make too much difference for me the last

big change as of May 1st 2018 is that eBay started to roll out their product based listing when you go in Amazon's website and you search for an item here I stars for a Blendtec blender you'll see several listings but here's one that's you know one model anyone who sells this model has to sell it right here they can't have multiple listings like eBay does and you have to scroll through and look at all the different ones and choose which one you like better know everyone's selling this model you click here and then you click where it says used in new here this is showing you every one on Amazon who's selling this item and that's what eBay is trying to do right now eBay has only done this for a limited number of items we have brands such as Amazon Apple Dyson Google jawbone nest and Roku and that's it but let's take a look at exactly how well this is working for eBay so I'm going to search for the nest thermostat here our on eBay and it should look similar to Amazon by this point but it doesn't at all we see so many different listings and a lot of them look to be the same item these should all be condensed into one listing like Amazon has and it's not working already so this is the first phase and eBay is already not pulling it together so it doesn't have any very optimistic for their plans to roll out a catalog based system for their entire store so there you go those are the
