Does Stealing eBay Dropshipping Titles and Listings Work? A Convo with Becky from Broke to Boss Girl

what's up fellow dropshippers in this week's video I sit down with the fabulous Becky from broke to boss girl and talk about whether stealing other obey sellers titles and listings works or whether it makes more sense to find unique items that no one else is selling on eBay and creating optimized titles for them yourself if you don't know who Becky is she runs the YouTube channel broke to boss girl but quite frankly at this point it should just be Becky the boss girl because she is absolutely crushing it on eBay right now doing eBay dropshipping like I am but unlike what I'm doing she's selling on eBay UK which is much harder in my opinion because no one is talking about how to do it Becky though she has great content she's also talking about all the traveling she's doing but I'll let her update you on what she has been up to recently you're now in Nicaragua

ask is for because uh Mark's software that's what it does right accomplishing yeah so at first what the first time I noticed they really annoyed me I was like I spent so much time on this and they're copying me but what I've noticed is that we're still doing fine and that even though like some people will come in and price I steal my title price it lower they still won't sell it and I don't know why I don't know it's just because honey well I can speak from my own experience sometimes I'll go to ebay to purchase something I'll see one person has it for let's say 50 dollars and they sold it 400 times and then somebody else has it for 48 dollars but they never sold it I might go for the $50 one it is a good chance I will it's because they you know see it I don't know psychologically what it is you know yeah well I think it like to do movie based kind of ranking because I know this is one of my know a lot but maybe if I also keep it stolen like the title of this item luck was one of my best sellers and I was still selling it even though they have gone had lower prices yes so what is I think is giving you type in that whole title as it is it will come up because he's trapped in the title as it is but say for example of selling a TV stand and the title there's like wooden TV sound and your keywords right and it's - the exact I will come up but if somebody just types in TV standard and you have the sales history and the other two public you don't yours will rank and there's one and my best selling item well I just typed in what the isopods I'm on the first page and none of them are because they've never sold it before right so because nobody Scrolls down copying something and pricing it doesn't automatically mean you're going to you might get sells yeah but you will so write higher because you have the sales history yeah that said yeah that's a good analysis of it I've never actually tried just searching for the keyword and trying to get it but I can take a look at that no we don't worry about too much because there's not much to you not much we can do unless we change the title or price it lower but we try to keep our prices competitive regardless because we find that is important for eBay yeah but you know we're still doing well and some of our items that have been stolen we don't sell anymore because the other person stole and they effectively stole it yeah but for a lot of them I think it's the same experience you've had where it's just we keep selling them yeah well not so when I say to me when I start to noticed it happening it was really like discouraged because I thought that was gonna be you know I thought what people discover my store and stop doing this it's gonna be the end of it basically it's gonna slowly take her off until I don't make any sales but that just hasn't been my experience I'm still making sales either only items that people have copied or new items so I'd say like every month I have a new best seller so my old best sellers have taken but this month got this so as long as you keep listing new things yeah I think you could always keep selling yeah and

it definitely is like a fear of ours I guess you could say that yeah well I'll say not a fear of all right but we're definitely cautious that's why there's a lot of information I don't share on the blogs like because I don't want somebody to see that oh they're making this much money in profit so we should steal everything in their store yeah come to like an average eBay store you might you can easily tell what their margins are what their sources but you don't know how much money and profit they're making yeah they're publicly sharing that so yeah you know if we reveal information like you know how many listings we have or like exactly what our margins are it might be very easy for people to identify our store yeah and then steal it and because I know that unfortunately like Jonathan lien who we talked about before and Joanne yeah very publicly talked about their stores a lot of people know what their stores are yeah meet them and same thing with David we made the course yeah anyone that's why yeah he changed his store because everyone copied it yeah and I think the thing is as well which is I had when I was very first started my youtube channel I definitely showed too much and people were able to find the store and somebody actually liked try to sort of like expose my store name which I thought was really silly at the time because I don't make a huge amount of money but people kind of think I'm upset about people stealing my listings but if somebody kind of finds one with my best-selling copies it that's fine but the problem is when you have everyone publicly because you put yourself out publicly scraping your entire store that's when it will become a problem if someone takes one or two of your sellers that's fine but if you have 50 people or being everything you this yeah that would be a problem and it's a shame because I would love to show people more to help them there's so much I can't show because I can't your mind so I gotcha my items yeah I know exactly what you mean yeah and it's a shame I mean that's the way yeah and the other

thing I'll say about is that we've noticed that when one of our items gets copied somebody will copy it and then somebody will copy that person and then all of a sudden there was like 50 listings so nobody's making money on it yeah exactly yeah I was gonna say I guess they all just copy each other yeah and I think what if I spoke but when I was talking about people copying this dude because if it's something that worried me for a long time so I kind of thought a lot about it I don't so much anymore but I used to work in like a head office retail environments or quite large companies in the UK so I kind of gives me a understanding of product cycles work and there's always a new product and the problem is if you only copy people from eBay you're never gonna have a new product and I had an example it's nice if I don't set any more so I can use as an example but when I first started listing I am listed a purple microwave just I saw it but did I know that it's the only program microwave for sale on youth they market and nobody was selling it on eBay so I wasn't the first person selling just coke or microwave what do you do and if you try to have a month wave microwave because I was selling it daily babe I'd never find those small things that nobody else is selling yet right

yeah one of the first I guess the first big seller I had which is his item that I was sitting on my couch I was just thinking to myself like what would I go onto eBay to buy that I wouldn't go to Amazon to buy yeah because I was trying to be really picky so my limit was like 100 items or something and this either this random item just popped in my head I said you know what I would buy that on eBay and I wouldn't think to buy it on Amazon and I need to even know if this item existed it's on Amazon it was on Amazon I searched for an eBay nobody was selling it on eBay and I made a killing with that for a long time until it was copied yeah I think that's why just using your intuition right yeah because I think a lot of it is I mean those the things I think that will take you from you know making a no came out of money so really getting to the next level yes thinking outside the box maybe yeah yeah because there I

think there is you know at this point we're just starting to list pretty much everything but at first we were being very picky and still the items like I'll see an item and I'll say like this is just I think this is gonna sell and you know 75% of times maybe 60 maybe 60% of time I'm like right about that yeah and it's like one another like probably the second item that sold really well on our store was I was just on Home Depot just crawling around scrolling around and found this item looked at the price and I said like wow like that's a good price for this item yeah listed it and that was one of our best sellers like I remember one day I sold seven in one day and I was like my gosh it's going crazy like what you just said is my main criteria for picking something to list what good are you so if I see something that I think that sweetcheeks about item then I know I can ask them two percent of people will still purchase it because still a reasonable price to pay for something so when I'm looking for things to sell that something kind of tackle just good value and then again if I were to try and send an e us I would be able to do that because dollars I might have to convert it and then some things will just look different amounts in the u. s. versus in the UK so it's interesting I think would be interesting when I try to southern us how that would work not being like one of my techniques how would it work give me this for me yeah and then you

know we sell those items first we get the jump start before people come in and copy it so you know yeah you sure so enough of those items like being the first to market for those and you know you can make good money before you get copied yeah and when you list consistent that you get sales consistently which I do find but what I find interesting is that when I list if I stop listing and then start listing consistently in sales pick up the new sales are necessarily the new item yeah do you find that as well absolutely in

it and I'm trying to figure out why my only one is that eBay just rewards you for spending more money on ebay yeah I always find that when I stop what I can excel you say all right so 150 item today and there's my sales picked up with none of the hundred maybe one was like one of the new ones I listed it and I always find that really funny then so do pick up and it's the old items that have been there for like three four months that stop to sell yes it's strange but I you know when I in

the beginning somebody had told me something like that they said everyday just log onto eBay and do something yeah because if you don't see well around yeah do something in every day to do something yeah I pretty much stay on eBay like the entire time I'm awake I'm just not into eBay kind of my clicking around just to see like what's going on right yeah so yep so what do you think so Christmas is obviously going to be crazy mmm and I've been thinking I'm expecting generators slow up a bit and my as don't want to because if it's not ready I will delay it then publish I think that's not as good as it could be and the reason why I want to still course is because obviously I took the David Bowie course but I haven't come across any courses that are specific to the UK and there are quite a few differences and like some specifics are like uploading tracking that's not a requirement if you drop drippity UK me buddy doesn't refine their tracking hmm yeah you're not much you can be so I so just other small details like that are different in the UK so they would be bathing in US and differently handle things so I wanted of course the UK because I had to kind of translate some things from the course into the UK and I have a lot of questions about how it's done sources and that sort of thing so yeah I wanted your course but specific to be okay but I don't have a date for it yet I want it to be very good yeah that's a really good idea she was gonna be a lot of people who gonna use that yeah because I am I good enough to do it but so many people messaged me saying well you teach me I'll pay you to meet up with me and I'll do I just don't have time to do that if I just do it and you know whoever wants to touch a certain pressure set and because I'm doing the YouTube videos anyone who wants to just go through the video isn't pick what they need can do but I know some people an a/b cement all the way through guys so I'm working on that that's awesome yeah I was great talking with you yeah maybe we'll Skype again in like January yes how crazy everything was yeah cool yeah you too have a good night yes
