so the most important lesson that I learned in 2024 was that 80% of your failure comes not from your skill set but from the path you're following change path and you'll likely find yourself winning again now what do I mean by this basically let's use example here let's say you're a really good person of sales like you have tons of experience tons of credentials years of training and you've like hit all the sales targets at your previous companies and for some reason you decide to start selling Rolexes to homeless people and of course you're going to have a really hard time because like homeless people cannot afford Rolexes so no matter how hard you try for months or years you're not going to be able to probably even get one sale and does that mean you should just give up all together in like sales no it means that you selling on to the wrong people like your skill set is in sales but you're following the wrong path for the skill set that you have if you change path and you start selling the same Rolexes to people at luxury car shows then you're going to have 100 times easier time because people at those luxury car shows have them when need to buy them so I think for any skill set there are multiple paths that you can be pursuing some are significantly easier than others and some your chance of success will be much higher than others so when you feel like a failure or loser it's not necessarily because you have the wrong skills or you still have to skill up it's because you're using the wrong path for the skills that you have so the last example was a little extreme let's use an easier one so let's say you're really good at making apps and you decide died for some reason you're going to make an app to help students budget that money and you spend all these months making the app like it's really good really polished you finally hit publish and then starts growing like crazy and then you decide you want to make money with the app so you add like a monthly subscription or something and then no one is buying a monthly subscription like people quit using your app people think it's too expensive and you're going to feel like a failure because you spent all this time making a thing and no one's buying it anymore does that mean you should like give up an development allog together no it just means that you did the wrong thing like you followed the wrong path for the same time and effort you probably could have made the app to help like rich people manage their property portfolios or like property investors or something and that would sell so much more easily than the app that you made for students because firstly students don't have as much money to spend on apps and secondly budgeting apps people who are downloading budgeting apps like budgeting apps for students are not going to be buying them mie subscription because budgeting so for whatever path you're following you got to consider that there may be certain reasons or things for why this doesn't work out no matter how hard you try some things are fundamentally impossible or fundamentally like 10 or 100 times harder for your skill set than other things for the same skill set but let's say as a non- business related example let's say you decide you want to be a journalist and you want to work for a newspaper so you apply to all these newspapers and then you start working for a print newspaper and Your Friends start working for like other newspapers like digital newspapers but you're working for this reputable print newspaper and a couple years past and all your friends have been promoted to like senior editor or they like Chief of Staff or like all these high positions in their newspaper whereas you're still in the same position that you were in the beginning and you're like man maybe my skills aren't good enough like maybe I'm not improving like maybe I should give up on this thing but the reality is the path you're following the path you followed for the last couple years is was a wrong path because fundamentally these days there's a global Trend where print newspaper sales are decreasing and online newspaper sales are increasing and more newspapers are embracing like Tik Tok and like short form content online but you decided to work for a print like a newspaper that doesn't have an online presence so of course your friends who are working for the other newspapers are going to be getting promotions and everything because their newspaper business is doing well whereas your company is not doing well so they're not going to promote you so even when it comes to picking companies it's important to consider what the compan is actually doing if you're planning on getting a job and what path you will be following when working for this particular company and what your chances are promotions and stuff you're going to feel like a failure if all your friends are getting promotions because they chose a slightly different path by choosing a different newspaper company than yours so for me over the last 2 years I kind of faced this fa and I felt like a total loser because I worked on projects for a couple thousands of hours and that project didn't go anywhere and then I fundamentally realized that there's a problem like inherently with that project or the path that I was following where my skill set was not suited towards that thing and if I followed a slightly different path for my same skill set I probably have like a 10 or 100 times easier chance of getting success and it's better to realize that later than never but it's important to consider overall at every stage of Life what path are you actually following and whether there can be an easier path for you in terms of being more successful it may not necessarily be easier in terms

of like the work that you have to do but it would be easier in the long term in the sense you feel like you're being more successful day byday year by year so forth so yeah I encourage you to think carefully about what you're working on and whether the path you're following is most optimal for the skill set that you have for example let's say you're really bad at biology and for some reason you want to be a doctor or you want to pursue medicine but you already know many people who are doctors and they're working in like a broken NHS system and they're making like not so good money but your uncle instead offers you hey like do you want to work with me and he's like a property landlord or something and he offers you to work with him for a summer and 10 years from now you well firstly you enjoy that work much more and 10 years from now you could either have like a really big property portfolio with you and your uncle and feel much more successful or you could be like a mid-level doctor at like a random hospital and feel like you're not really a fa or you're kind of a failure because your friend who didn't go to university and instead did the thing with his un car is ahead of you so yeah it's pretty hard in day-to-day life because you can lose a forest for the trees like you may be following a path and not actually realize that this is a path that's not optimal for you or your skill set and you need someone else to tell you like hey this is why it won't work out fundamentally you're caught up too much in the daytoday as of like how am I going to sell the next Rolex to like the next homeless person that you don't realize that hey this is fundamentally the problem you should not be selling Rolexes to homeless people but yeah that's basically what I realized last year if you enjoyed the video do like it and follow the channel and I'll see you in the next one bye
