My Cambridge University Room Tour 2022

hey everyone welcome back to another video so if you're new here my name is ray and i'm in my third year doing physics here at cambridge and in this video i'm gonna be showing you guys like my room because i don't know people like seeing student rooms for some reason so anyway let's get started

right so the best place to start the video is at the door because people usually enter rooms free doors and not windows so here is the room so you can see a as a quick overview chairs camera stuff desk uh clothing shelves over here some storage behind the bed and the bed itself so if i go into more detail so anyone who wants to steal from this room knows exactly where everything is uh then yeah keep watching so this is some bike stuff covered stuff uh some books over here so history of st john's college which is a college i go to we have like a 750 page book about it uh which we can just get for free from the library which is kind of neat and then i don't know a bunch of other books a nice globe thing which i got to i don't know add some aesthetic to the room um and then refill pads hole punch blah blah whatever stationary stuff a book i'm reading the kindle uh lamp and then some like snacks at the bottom uh with a cup and some uh cutlery which they give us in their butchery which is why the like dining stuff happens so if you get a takeout box so you get one of those then two of the four pairs of shoes i have so i have four sandals and like two pairs of shoes one of them being here so not a whole lot of shoes but don't really need too many shoes so it doesn't matter now this is a storage cabinet behind the bed and we also get a key which we can lock this with and just in case so laundry stuff over here and then some other cleaning stuff with some medicine which i've stored here and then also i don't know a bunch of boxes at the top which are useful so like that's a box on my monitor at the top um so when i'm transporting it's transporting it back in from home then we're back into home then i can just sort of stick in there and off we go so now something interesting about the room is that there are no lights on the ceiling not exactly sure why so we have one light over there and here turn them both off then this is what it sort of looks like so i don't know kind of dark because it's cloudy outside and it's december time so then we have the bed where like sleep happens and stuff and then the chairs and tables and a dumbbell which i keep there so whenever i'm like bored from working then i just like do a few reps on that and usually i feel ready to walk again so this is the view from the window so over there is a car block and the rest of the building which i will show you later when i go outside and this is a punting dock so um these are where ponds usually are usually stored so punts would be stored down there then i don't know people punt out from the punting dock and go off into the river which is further along and the building opposite is moorland college's uh students accommodation so the kind of annoying thing about this room is that when i have my curtains wide open then there's so many windows of people you can just look into my room but then again there are like more rooms in this building so i'm not sure exactly why they would want to look into mine so opening the window this is the hunting dock and as you can see it's raining right now but there's also a nice stream on the left hand side which is really nice to listen to when you just sort of sat here and even when the window closed you can hear it um the only annoying thing about this room will probably be because a lot of ducks hang out so during like march april when there's like mating season or whatever for ducks and it's gonna be kind of loud and annoying especially like at seven six a. m or something so i kind of experienced that in first year when i was living along the river but that should be fine um so i don't know here's some camera stuff in the corner uh so that is the aperture dome a microphone two tripods and then a cable connecting over to my laptop over here so this is my desk uh some empty levatch folders over here um because everything i basically have is stored digital now uh the lens cap for the i don't know lens i'm using right now uh lens wipes for the lens uh and for my glasses as well some yale merch which a close friend of mine gave me when they stayed over a water filter because cambridge water tastes absolutely terrible compared to like water from the north in manchester where i grew up and then i don't know this is a drone box uh wall which stores my drone which can be quite nice because you can just like i don't know launch the drone off the table and have it fly out the window but i can't really do that since it's raining right now uh a box with another lens inside hairbrush tissues uh i don't know um what is that pencil case yes pencil case um this is usually where i store like buddies but i'm wearing a hoodie right now and my hoodie is in the wash so know what is that and then i don't know the one coat i have so then going through here i will show the bathroom in a bit there is my closet in the closet spare towels bad bedding uh i don't know a bunch of clothes stuff uh face towels hand towels um more clothes over here um draw for socks and underwear uh more clothes stuff over here and then extra weights for the dumbbells and some more boxes which i've stored then air bed for like any guests to end up staying over and also i don't know clothing stuff uh with my suit stored over him so i've only brought one suit with me which is usually one for like four more dinners at cambridge and if i then go through here is the bathroom so towel rack over here which has a nice switch up here which i can turn off the towel rack when like i don't know my towels are fully dried um but since i just had a shower this morning i should probably turn it back on so going into the bathroom there is a shower cubicle whatever thing over here you can see my reflection a tiny bit um and i don't know shower stuff at the bottom this is a clothing drying rack which i just keep stored in the bathroom and then when i need to dry my clothes i sort of just stick it in that corner well near the chair between the bed and chairs over there and going back in here a bin which is useful because i don't know bins are useful uh toilets itself a washer and can if you know whatever it is um and then also uh toilet paper stored up there this is me with my like fancy gimbal and stuff which i don't need leads to nice smooth shots so behind here we have shower stuff i don't know toilet stuff uh so toothpaste whatever blah blah and then down here there's more of that stuff um and then more toilet paper whatever so yeah it's pretty convenient because i don't having it on sweets and stuff because it means that after you've had a shower you can basically walk naked directly from the shower snapped my head against the wall over there um to like i don't know your chair and start doing work or whatever so yeah fun stuff so now if i go over to the kitchen so

there are some other rooms along here as well and this is like the passageway that is your way out i just showed the outside of the building as well and this is some like i don't know hoover in case we need to use the fever vacuum cleaner whatever people call it these days uh and this is the kitchen which is shared between like seven eight people um so i don't know right now you can see it's like a little bit messy um but no it's usually fine uh i have uh my shelf up here which just has some like putting a nan bread on and then like bottle milk uh and then i kept a uh wood thing over here so this is where i store all my cutlery and my two bowls so i don't have a whole lot of dishes um mainly just balls and then add a new cereal and stuff um yeah i don't know that's basically mine um and now if i go outside to the actual building but first i'm going to need to grab an umbrella and actually um get my shoes and cam cut and stuff so quickly doing

that so yeah now going outside here so usually we have to press the button to exit because we have to scan our card on the way in this building so there's some stairs going up to another floor with like seven eight more rooms and then stairs going down to another floor of chasmal rooms you can kind of see the view out here so that is a new court of st john's college that is the back of new court so i can go take a closer look so i'm walking downstairs again more rooms up here this is what i mean when you have to scan like your card on the way and then walking downstairs more um now this is something where my name over here and you can like sign in and sign up but like no one actually uses this because i don't know maybe like 50 60 years ago and people didn't really have mobile phones um it'd be useful to know who's like living who's currently in the building but since like everyone can just sort of message our friends and ask them where they are we don't really need to use anymore and they just can't sort of keep that there for tradition so this is the building called crips building it kind of stands out from that building of that because it seems much more modern and new but yeah so that is another staircase along there and yeah so this is new court uh so that is the river over there the river camp uh with chapel tower of st john's and this is the ugly building that i'm in uh but the facility is inside a nice and it's like very convenient but it's kind of weird because it just stands out from like this building over here but oh well that doesn't matter but yeah just i don't know heading back now yeah that's basically for the room tour video if you're interested in how much this room costs i think it's uh 1 900 a term which includes a holiday so we basically have at least from about late september all the way to about late to june and if you work for the maps then it comes out to about 20 pounds 21 pounds per day so like 140 pounds a week um which i think is like a pretty good deal for i don't know generally students accommodation and um it's more expensive because of the ensuite stuff but yeah i don't know it's completely fine i'm pretty happy with it so yeah that's it for the video bye
