Segment 1 (00:00 - 00:00)

When I do my sprint interval training, should I be focusing on maximum heart rate or is there another way to gauge how hard I'm working? Heart rate lags too much for sprint interval training. So, you'll find that after you've done your interval, you get a peak heart rate. So, we really preface rating perceived exertion to go on that 10 on a scale of 1 to 10, and you're hitting that within 10 seconds of starting your interval. So, the idea of using a heart rate is not ideal when you're doing sprint interval training because the lag time is too much. And when we're really learning what it means to go as hard as possible, it's really important to have that intrinsic idea of how hard we're pushing, which is why I always lean into rating perceived exertion.
