Finally, somebody in the YouTube fitness space with the balls to own their shit when they make a mistake. And now listen, I know not every single one of you is going to forgive Malibu because stolen valor is a very serious thing. On a scale of 1 to 100, it's like 102. It's just something that you don't do. Now, I'm not saying that he didn't serve and he was in Afghanistan. He was. But unfortunately, Malibu put in his profile that he was a survivor of an IED blast. Okay, that type of injury is very serious. He would have got a purple heart if something like that happened to him. And it just it never did. And that was in his profile. And as his profile started growing and he went from basically having no followers to a million followers on his Instagram, that got removed and that got people curious. and Goob made a video about it last night talking about stolen Valor and then he was DMing Malibu asking him for more information and Malibu was kind of dodging the subject and so Goob dug a little deeper and I'll play this video for you here in a second but it's not the most important part of this one. one is that with all of this pressure and now millions of followers and I'm sure he's gotten death threats a lot of hate for this. He still came clean, owned his shit, and did an apology video. I'm going to play this video for you guys. But before I do, I want to add a little context because this world we live in is very silly. Especially in the YouTube fitness space, it's all full of drama. And you guys ask, why do we make these drama videos? Why do you care what other people do in their life? BECAUSE IT PROVES WHETHER or not they're a man. It proves what where their morals and values truly lie. If you're willing to lie about the dumbest shit, what else are you lying about? For example, Athlete X, JEFF CAVALIER, WE ALL CAUGHT HIM USING FAKE WEIGHTS. It was very obvious. Never even addressed the matter. Okay, Jeff Nippard, right? He was instigating with Mike. That's what it looked like to me in the CCT footage before he got choke slammed. I made videos about it. John Bravo Lots of people made videos about it. And then more recently covering for Mike Israel. Still never really said anything about it. Played the victim. And then he made that really stupid video, how to look enhanced without taking steroids when he had Hussein and Julian in his video, which I'm 99. 99999% certain, regardless of how many blood tests Greg wants to show us that Hussein is not natural. Julian, there's no absolute way, right? Never own their shit. And on a scale of one to 100 with compared to Stolen Valor, those are things that are like a two. VS Shred copied my videos, copied Athleen X's videos, probably copied so many other people's videos. Not once did he ever own up to that. Most recent scandal, Larry Wheels, JOHN BRAVO JUST MADE A FOLLOW-UP video proving everything that he said was true. And it's really stupid stuff. It's behind the doors sexual fantasies that he has, and he continues to lie about it. Those things mean nothing compared to Stolen Valor. And with that being said, Malibu came on here, owned his shit, and apologized. And to me, that speaks volumes about his character. And there's a reason why he lied about it. I'm not saying that it's a good reason. But I understand why he said that cuz remember a month ago, he didn't have all these followers. He was just looking for Well, let me just play the video. — Hey guys, it's Malibu. I wanted to talk to you directly about the claim that I made taking an IED blast to the face. Before anything else, I want to be clear. I did serve between 2005 and 2010. That part of my life is something that I've always been proud of. I've always had deep respect for the men and women who served alongside me, especially those who suffered more than I ever have. I've always got comments about my face and appearance. Some of them were harsh, and to be honest, I didn't handle it well. I was new to being in the public eye and I didn't know how to handle the criticism. Instead of facing that right away, I made a bad decision and put IED survivor in my bio. That was not true and it was wrong. Truly, I'm sorry from the bottom of my heart. I have always tried to promote positivity and support for others, especially veterans, but I understand that my actions here contradict that. I take full responsibility for it. I know words alone will not fix this. Trust is earned. It's not owed. All I can do is be honest with you guys going forward and let my actions speak for myself over time. Guys, he owned it. He came right out, got on top of it, and he owned it. Again, I'm not saying it's right. not serious, but at least he owned the mistake. and he's leagues ahead of all those other guys that I mentioned in terms of showing us the true character that is Malibu. And
Segment 2 (05:00 - 09:00)
I'm still gonna support him. In fact, I've actually DM'd him in the past. I DM'd him even before his account really started exploding because I saw that original post and I and that's where the controversy is because the reason why he got so popular so fast is because people felt bad that he was getting all of these negative comments based on how he looked. And then once they saw that he was a survivor of an IED blast to the face, guys like him and a lot of other people were like, "Hey, you're making fun of this guy. He's a veteran and he survived something terrible. " So, it's like this catch22 thing where yeah, he lied, but also he wouldn't be as popular as he is right now if he didn't have that in his profile. But at this point, it is what it is. And if you're willing to move forward with Malibu, like he said, he's he owns it. He wants to take responsibility for it and he wants his actions to speak louder than his words. And with this newfound fame that he has, he's been doing a lot of really good things with it. educational videos, a lot of tip videos. He's been spreading good vibes, right? Um he's even started some GoFundMes or Kickstarters to help veterans pay their bills. He is doing the right thing. It's just so unfortunate that this scandal happened literally within 30 days of him getting insanely popular on social media. And I was hoping that I would have a response from him before I made this video, but I'm sure his he's got gazillion of DMs. But I reached out to him on January 30th when I saw his story. Then I started looking at his content and I did. I said, "Hey, I'm really enjoying your content, bro. Keep crushing it. " You know, sending him some support. and we had a little chat back and forth and I found out he was in Michigan because he was showing some like water that was completely frozen out of a cooler and I just sent him a message a little while ago. I said, "Hey man, you're a real one, bro. I was waiting for your response video before I talked about it. I wanted to see the kind of man you are and it takes a real man to admit a mistake. You didn't sugarcoat it. You just owned it. " And it looks like a lot of people feel the same way I do. was just going through the comments here on his apology post and this pretty much sums up how I feel. Immediate accountability, no excuses, no perfectly curated video. Good stuff, man. Lesson learned. Dumb mistake past. All is well. And I know some military guys might feel a little different cuz again, stolen valor is a pretty serious thing. I never served, but a lot of my friends did. In fact, my very best friend served in the Marines because again, remember my graduating class. We were in 11th grade when the towers got hit. A lot of my friends went right into the Marines as soon as we graduated high school. In fact, my very best friend, uh, Robert Masillo, Bobby, we called him. He was killed in action, unfortunately, in Iraq. So, like I know, I know I'm on his side, but when I first saw this, I was very mad. I was very upset because again I'm gonna get upset. Oh, sorry about that, guys. I haven't talked about my friend in a long time. And when I bring it up, it hits me hot. It really does. I haven't seen my one of my best friends for fuck 21 years. A long time. It's a whole That's how old he was close to when he passed away. It's crazy. But, you know, this is a pretty serious thing that happened with Malibu. I completely lost my train of thought. So sorry if I went off if I'm about to go off in another direction, but this was a very serious thing that happened. He owned up to it. He still has my support. And again, just like take a look at the landscape here in the YouTube fitness space and all the stupid drama that's happening all the time. Like if those guys can't even admit to the really dumb shit that they've done and this guy can come on here and admit to something like this and be accountable for it immediately, I think it shows a lot of his character as a person and I'm looking forward to see his continued growth.
