The CMS experiment at CERN is getting an upgrade to prepare for the transformation of the large hydron collider into the high lumi LHC. The enhanced LHC will increase the number of collisions by a factor of 10 to usher in a new era for high energy physics. The high LHC will give physicists unprecedented precision to study the Higs Bzon standard model measurements while enhancing the discovery potential of new physics searches. One of the ways that firmab is helping to prepare the CMS detector for the highumi LHC is by producing plastic cintillator tiles. These tiles are integral for the new detectors calorimeter system called the high granularity calorimeter or HGAL. When a particle strikes one of these plastic tiles, it excites the molecules in a material causing them to emit light. Then that light is collected by photo detectors allowing scientists to determine the energy of a particle as it travels through the CMS detector. In total, HG call will use 240,000 tiles which are being produced by Firmenilab and NIOU. Recently, Firmayab completed production of 150,000 tiles. The next step is for NIU and DIY to wrap the tiles in a highly reflective foil. This foil reflects lights back into the tile helping guide it towards the photo detector. Then the tiles are placed into a circuit board populated with photo sensors forming what we call tile modules. The tile modules are then assembled into the cassettes that will make up HGL at Firmayab and finally they will be shipped to CERN for the integration into the CMS detector.
