The biggest mistake I see in acne isn't the product that you're using, it's how you're using it. Let me explain. Hi, I'm Dr. Sam and I've been helping patients achieve bright, clear skin for over two decades. Because when you change your skin, you change your life. Now, the perennial problem I see in patients with acne coming to me for the first time is not that they haven't done their research. It's not that they don't know their acts, but it's that using their products in the wrong way. And that's because instead of tackling the zone, and I'm talking about jaw lines, I'm talking about T-zones, I'm talking about chest, I'm talking about backs, they are going spot by spot, which means you're constantly in crisis mode, reacting to your skin. Stress spot. Work tension spot, hormones spot. No, there is a better way. When we think about the science of acne, this makes complete sense. So imagine that you are a week before your period and your progesterone is coming up and your skin is changing in response to that. You're becoming more oily. You have more testosterone floating around. The oil glands become more active. Now they don't happen in isolation. They happen in a field. A field meaning a zone. So multiple glands change at the same time. They get oilier. The skin gets more clogged. Inflammation happens. And voila, you get that lumpy bumpy spot in the triangle of doom just below the corner of the mouth. So it's always happening in the same zone. This is the nature of adult acne in women especially. We see this U zone pattern. So while you can just react to that odd blemish happening here, here if you tackle the U of the face proactively, guess what? You can actually suppress them from happening altogether. The same is true for your T-zone. the chest in the back. So, it's really about becoming familiar if you were to map it out on your skin with the areas that over the past 3 to 6 months you have seen blemishes. Usually, the pigmentation mark the blemish leaves behind will tellail. It creates a kind of footprint on your skin. So, what does this actually mean for your routine? Well, it means that you're going to be using activives on skin that's not just broken out, but actually looks quite normal. So, you're going to want to apply your preventative treatments. And if you've seen my previous video, you know I've talked about using azoic acid in the morning and a retinoid at night over the whole zone, not just waiting for that red bump to appear. Now, this concept of zoning isn't new. I've been talking about this in social media for a couple of years. If you want to read more about it, check out my blog which I'll link in the description box. But at night time, there's probably no need to zone your acts because you'll want to use your winoid all over both for blemish prevention, but also for all those lovely premature aging advantages. And the great thing about zoning is you can apply it anywhere. So if you get like a bumpy forehead after a sweaty workout, you can preempt that by zoning your forehead. And the same is true for body breakouts, too. a real common problem for her wearing fitted workout gear and finding that the heat and friction can drive problems there too. To get my skin zoning bible, just click on the link in the description box. So, if you take one thing away from this video, it's zone. Don't dot. And please let me know in the comments what topics you'd like me to cover
