How to Find Wholesale Dropshipping Suppliers at Trade Shows

so I'm here today at the global pet expo in Orlando Florida and this is one of the biggest trade shows in the country for pet toys we're gonna find some wholesalers that we can drop ship from so this is one of the largest pet Expos in the world definitely one of the largest in the United States it's absolutely gianormous and have all sorts of new pet products here of old pet products you know from very established companies and a lot of them will do drop shipping if you ask them but you don't really want to use the word drop shipping so I'm gonna kind of explain in this video how you should approach these people the correct type of things you should be asking for and looking for with the different suppliers here at these trade shows one thing I always do is I looked for some established brands and anyone here luckily is going to for the most part be a very established brand someone who's really reputable so they see anyone here if you could get a deal with them with wholesale pricing you're going to be in a really good position and that is a goal here to get the wholesale pricing but still get them to dropship for you now one of the really cool things about these Expos is that most of the time they are completely free like I did not pay for this one at all you do have to pay to actually set up an exhibit like these guys did but for us buyers it is free for us to attend it you just got to get here maybe pay for parking like we did but they want us to come be buying the products because we are really what makes it worth it for these exhibitors who pay the money to actually be here now not everyone here is just going to sign an agreement with you there are you know some companies that will not do the drop shipping for you and even the ones that will you kind of have to approach them the right way you got to ask the right question because they need to trust you as well this is this goes both ways so I'm gonna tell you what I'm trying here today's is actually the first time I'm at one of these trade shows I'll tell you kind of how successful I am or how unsuccessful I am apparently this Expo is normally much bigger than it actually is this year because this year a lot of the exhibitors are from China and they are unable to make it because of the coronavirus they're just not allowed here all right so far not so great not doing really well so far so the first couple of people I spoke to they only deal with really big company is not like small people like us unfortunately kind of expected that here the next person does not deal with eBay and Amazon at all they actually have a sign that said no eBay no Amazon no under you have to worry about people trying to undercut your prices at all on eBay Amazon because they don't sell it there at all so that was kind of a bummer and I did try recording one of my conversations but I also saw a sign that said you're not allowed to do that unless you are a approved to do it so I'm not really even sure if I'm supposed to be doing like recording right now so I don't wanna get anyone in trouble I want to be anyone come feel comfortable so unfortunately I'm not going to be recording the exact conversations but so far there's nothing really report because I'm striking out pretty bad here finally had my first success here it's not gonna tell you how it kind of happened so I went up there and just kind of started asking the people about their products show some real interest in them and they asked me what it is that I do so I told them that I sell products on eBay and on Amazon sell them online fully transparent about that and they said oh like where you base where all your items and I told them I use the words I mean on stocking Internet Retailer which is kind of like a fancy more professional way of saying I do drop shipping and they and the woman just said oh well here's our application for that like they knew about it actually said drop shipping on that form so score I got one and I'll take that home and contact them but they seem very open minded to it so we got one and they sell a lot of pet beds that's pretty much the main thing that they sell all right so I kind of just wanted to recap the whole trade show now that it's over and I'm back and settled in next day and overall it was okay for business first of all we had a lot of fun just walking around the dog that our dog that we brought got a lot of free treats and toys so that was fun he definitely was

the winner this weekend but for us it was okay I'm one mistake that we made a couple of mistakes for me first this wasn't the best trade show for us so this trade show most of the people that were there were more interested in big buyers so there's people walking around from Walmart people from Amazon company themselves walking around those are the buyers that these participants are looking to get you know relationships with and get buyers for from these big companies now they'll still work with us there were several that said they would work with us but there a lot of them were looking for the bigger buyers now there is a trade show later in the year that would be better for us which we might check out now another mistake that we made was that we didn't plan this was kind of spontaneous so normally we would get the whole list of all the suppliers sorry all the people that were there with their companies and we will look them up beforehand and see which one we would want to talk to and because this was a bit spontaneous we did have time to do that so we're kind of just flying off the cuff and just trying to you know figure out which ones we wanted to talk to you while we were there so not the best strategy but you know we do make some contacts and if you like to do wholesale and I want me at wholesale drop shipping I just mean like wholesale where you buy a bunch of items and buy them yourself get them delivered to your warehouse this would have been fantastic for you there are lots of companies there that were willing to do that at really good prices because one of the benefits of going to these trade shows is that they actually will give you a lot of times special price a special trade show pricing which is a really cool I also have another secret which probably if I tell too many people about this and actually do it will stop working but I'll let you guys know anyway if you guys like to do retail arbitrage this is actually also a really good thing for you to do is to go to these trade shows because what happens at them is people have booths there and they're putting all their items on display they have a lot of free samples and actually trying to sell things there as well so what happens at the end of the trade show is that people either throw all that stuff away because it's not worth them shipping it back to you know where they live where their warehouse is or they sell it for really cheap so I saw this guy going around with this big cart and he was just getting all the free stuff and loading it up they probably had thousands of dollars worth of merchandise on there that he's now going to sell on Amazon or Ebay and it cost him $0 to get all of that so you know if you're into that like go to these trade shows just the last day and see what kind of deals you can get because people will give you that stuff for really cheap or for free so no overall I was happy with it the best thing that I learned from this is that you know putting yourself out there you know this is something new for me was something different and I'm really glad that I did it I learned a lot about the industry just going there and talking to people about it so if you ever get the chance I would definitely go to trade show they are I haven't heard of them ever costing us as buyers and money so if you see one in your hometown go for it you know I think you will learn a lot you'll gain exposure to the industry you'll gain experience you'll make connections and it's totally worth it I believe so go for it have some fun get the free samples at the very least maybe do some retail arbitrage as well but guys if you enjoyed this video make sure to smash that like button down below and if you want more content about wholesale drop shipping let me know in the comments section that you enjoyed this video and I'll try to make more videos about wholesale as we learn about it otherwise thanks so much for watching I'll see you guys the next video bye for now hey thanks so much for watching the video if you want to subscribe to the channel you can do that by clicking right here and then I have two videos for you to check out click on one of those and I'll see you over in that video in just a few seconds
