imperial hubris

Okay, this is an extraordinarily half baked take, but I'm getting ready to film my next video and I thought I would just get it out of my head before things get too wacky, but um what we're seeing in Iran um is the ultimate like thing that shows how the American Empire was always going to fall. Um maybe we are you know, because we you know, are limited by the horizon of human lifetimes see empires as much more stable than they are and that they're actually always all countries really, but empires especially are in these states of needing endless conquest and growth in order to function and that the norms that are set out like in the United States, the US is founded on two fundamental things, which is one constant expansion into other people's territory for economic growth and two um white supremacy. Those are basically like the two things that America's built on and both of those like you know, undermining or under appreciating what the Iranians are capable of and the just constant need of America to expand into the few countries that have still managed to stand up to American imperialism um have led the US to this point where it is now stuck in a war with a subaltern people that it can't defeat and no longer has the power to defeat. Um but because of how America works, there is no you know, there is no crying uncle and calling defeat there's no giving like there's no giving up and there's no you know, seeing the Iranians as equal humans because of white supremacy and so this sort of base model of the United States means that it's going to get stuck in here and keep losing and keep losing and even if the US just through sheer bashing its head against a wall comes out victorious the cost will be so high that the empire basically be over. Um we'll see if this pans out, but um this is you know, this is an example of like the kind of thing imperial hubris, I think is what it's called sometimes that takes down many empires throughout history and America will be no exception.
