Segment 1 (00:00 - 01:00)

The food industry is constantly using psychological tricks to make you believe their products are healthy. Here's an example. This ad is from 2020. It's one of the most egregious examples. Uh, it really pissed me off when they came out. So, Daddy is a French sugar brand and they put out an ad that says, meaning Daddy reminds you that sugar is a plant. So, what are they doing here? They're taking advantage of something called the naturalness bias which shows that people have a natural is better belief. So people think that if something is natural, it is automatically good for them. But here's the thing, it is simply not true. There are many things that are natural that are really bad for you. Some examples include things like tobacco. It's natural. It comes from a plant. Poisonous mushrooms can kill you. Are natural. Yes, sugar is natural, as in it comes from a plant, but that does not make it good for you. And they perfectly know that, but they're using that bias to make you think that because it's natural, it's good for you. So, beware and do not get fooled.
