Do SPF sprays and sticks work?

We need to stop saying the best sunscreen is one that you'll apply without saying enough of regularly because a false sense of security can be worse than nothing and trust me there is a proper sunscreen out there that you can apply enough of. SPF foundation is not enough. This is how much you need to apply to get the SPF on the label. A normal application drops it massively. For powder you need about this much. The amount that stays on skin is almost negative SPF. With sticks this very generous application gave me less than half the SPF. With almost all of the sticks I've tried get the right amount onto my face even after applying for 3 minutes straight. This has been the only exception so far and I still needed to touch my face for over a minute. And because they're a hard flat thing touching a round surface, it is really easy to skip spots. Sticks might be okay for reapplying over makeup because it spreads out the original sunscreen layer and maybe adds a little bit extra. But if you're getting a lot of sun, you should really reapply a proper lotion. Face sprays are really bad. Not a lot actually makes it to your face. A generous application would give maybe SPF 7 if it was spread evenly, but it isn't so you skip tons of spots. Zinc sunscreens, if you like them that's great, but make sure you apply enough. DIY zinc sunscreens are way worse. They have really low SPF and they're more whitening and heavy than store-bought. So it starts at maybe SPF 6 if you're extremely lucky and then it gets even lower. These are some sunscreens I recommend. Tons of people can apply enough of these. And don't forget sunscreen is not the only form of sun protection. Also slip, slap, seek, and slide.
