Segment 1 (00:00 - 00:00)

All of the screenshots shown are evidence-based and have studies around the individual ingredients and the impact of those on the human body. Apps like Yuka are not evidence-based. Most of it is just based off the appeal to nature fallacy. The idea that things that are natural are safe. Most natural ingredients are listed as no risk. That is not a thing. Everything has risk. Anything can be risky depending on dose and the rooe of exposure. These apps do not take that into account at all. But on top of that, their listings are just so low quality. like perfam is no risk but perform 2 for some reason is low risk. There are a million other examples. They do list studies but they don't interpret them in a scientific way. Anyone can just chuck a list of studies under anything. The same studies are interpreted by toxicologists who specialize in cosmetic safety assessments. That's how limits for sunscreens and other ingredients are set. Safety isn't as straightforward as a score out of 100. You need to consider things that you can't automatically get off an ingredient list. The best thing to do is to use products from companies that you trust.
