Segment 1 (00:00 - 01:00)

This is the new Panasonic L10, and this is the Panasonic LX100 II, the company's previous enthusiast compact camera with a 4/3 sensor and the same 24-75 mm equivalent lens. There've been a lot of comments about how much bigger and heavier the L10 is, but it's hard to conceptualize how big that difference is until you see them side by side. — You do get something for the increased size, though. The L10 uses a much larger battery, which Panasonic says is good for up to 420 shots versus the 340 the LX100 II's can provide. Because of how those tests are run, that actually represents a bigger real-world difference than those numbers would imply. Greater still if you mainly use the EVF. The display is also now fully articulating instead of being fixed to the back, which requires the addition of a hinge. And while that and the battery may have added a bit of bulk, it's also possible that Panasonic's vision was just to make a larger camera. It's essentially the same size as Fujifilm's X100, a camera that people are demonstrably into. Regardless of the reason why it's bigger, it undoubtedly is. — The LX100 II was a camera that you could comfortably carry in a jacket pocket. With the L10, that's a bit of a stretch. But what do you think? Are you concerned about the size, or are you happier to have a camera that's a bit easier to grip and with buttons that aren't recessed?
