Offset Paths in #adobeillustrator? They kinda suck...

Offset pass in Illustrator, eh, they kind of suck because they're not editable. Let me show you a better way. Adding strokes, yeah, don't work. They all overlap. So, what we can do, make sure they're grouped. And with the appearance panel, what we can do is we can say add a stroke. And we're going to make it nice and big. And it's still broken. The cool thing about here in the appearance panel is, watch this. I can click, hold, drag, drag, drag. Make sure it's under contents. And it's behind it. Let's go a little bigger. What's really cool about it is if I zoom in and I start editing this, look what happens. Drag, drag. Fully editable. And if you like this cool offset path, you probably want the drop shadow as well. I'll show you. Same thing. Appearance panel. What I can do, effects, and I can go down to stylize, and I can add a drop shadow. A big fuzzy one. It's not what we want. What we want to do is get rid of the blur. Pick a color. Okay, that's a terrible color. Let me spend ages picking a better color. It's not. But I'm finished. The tutorial is over. Look away. forgetting my color and life choices. Uh, we can edit this and you can see it comes along for the ride. We don't have to redraw that offset path every single time. You're welcome.
