Science isn't team sports

This has been happening more and it is a super dangerous trap. People judging science by us versus them logic. For example, this TAC FDA rule because it was thrown out by a government that's been dismantling science and public health. A lot of people automatically assume that this rule must have been good. Very popular posts have even said brands should follow it even though scientifically it's just junk. I just found out a couple hours ago that some really big names in clean beauty were involved in making this rule. And this is no surprise because it is just standard clean beauty BS. the whole thing where they pretend dose and risk just do not exist. And this kind of knee-jerk reaction to science is just so dangerous in this current environment where public health is getting more and more DIY. Science does not and has never fallen cleanly along leftright political lines. You cannot judge if something is scientific just based on the political vibes it gives off. And if you make health decisions that way, your health is going to suffer and people who are less privileged have less resources to deal with the consequences. Science is getting really politicized and you are not immune if you're progressive. There's a trend of people pushing harmful misinformation using leftish politics as a shield. This is extremely effective. This there are my team mentality shortcuts your critical thinking skills. Here are some relevant red flags to look out for. And this whole team mentality thing is not new. We saw this with the not so pretty documentary which pushed a whole bunch of clean beauty BS. It kept emphasizing how black women were being targeted by these products which wasn't actually true. But even worse, it was using social justice as a shield to promote solutions that didn't help. They just made clean beauty brands earn more money. If they used the publicity from that documentary to push for evidence-based solutions, we might already have a tal testing rule.
