You Need To Know About Steve O Smith

Let me tell you about one of my favorite fashion designers right now because if you don't know him, you need to. And the person in question is London-based designer Steven Smith. And something I really love about his design process is he makes these really elaborate sketches and essentially executes these sketches in fabric. Insane. And the craftsmanship that goes into work is absolutely outrageous as well. The way that they have different layers of fabrics, cutaways, they play with different opacities of fabrics to create this sort of sketch effect on the garments. Insane. And they go to crazy levels of detail to even craft these garments in the first place. The fact that they have to hand apply a lot of the beading and the sequins. The attention to detail in the way these garments are crafted is just outrageous. A few months ago I actually visited his showroom in London and he was telling me how this amazing hand crafted jacket was lined with organza and I love the extra touch where you can see all the hand stitches on the inside. It looks so nice. I also love the versatility in the designs. This is Hunter Schafer wearing the brand and you can see that they can tone it down where if you don't want too many crystals and you want something that's easier to wear day-to-day, they have options for that. But if you want something more elaborate with bomb rolls or bustle pillows or hidden corsetry, ruffles, they also offer those kind of options.
