"Americans are unlikely to see prices come down any time soon."

Shortages in jet fuel are likely to mean even higher airfares as the summer goes on. The combination of the US's trade war and the tensions in the Persian Gulf are combining to create the conditions that will sustain high prices through the remainder of this year, and Americans are unlikely to see prices come down. They may see a slowing in the pace by which they increase, but life is not going to get more affordable for Americans anytime soon. In fact, this last month was the first time in 3 years that we saw inflation run faster than wage increases for average Americans. If we really want to control our own destiny on the energy front, wind, solar, hydro, and even nuclear offer us way more control, more options, and greater sustainability than further reliance on fossil fuels. —
