Segment 1 (00:00 - 04:00)

I don't Early impressions with the M5 Max are quite good. Just to be clear, this is the first MacBook I've ever bought with a nanoextured display. And that mainly came from your guys's recommendations, especially since I've had my new job and I'm oftentimes editing videos on the go. I was continuously running into situations where I was basically editing videos in direct sunlight. And I do recall saying in those videos, it'd be nice to have a much brighter display, even with vivid. And all of the comments were all bringing up that I needed to try out the nanoexture display because it makes operating in direct sunlight much easier. And I have to say now, while it doesn't necessarily feel brighter when you put it side by side with a nonnanoexture display, I can confirm yes, it does make the display much easier to see. You don't have to deal with as many reflections. It kind of blurs out all of that direct light impact. And that has been quite impressive to the point now where I'm not sure I can go back to having a MacBook that doesn't have nanoexture displays. I also went for space black on this one just because I've never had a space black Mac in the past. And my wife's MacBook Air is silver and sometimes she's traveling with me. So, I didn't want to get the MacBooks confused. So, now my M1 Max MacBook is space gray, which I will be keeping as my personal laptop, but I'm also kind of keeping this one because it is a work laptop. So, no, this is not just a MacBook Pro that I'll be reviewing for a couple of weeks and then selling off or returning. This is one that I'm specifically putting all of my TE truck content on to edit with because for security reasons and IP reasons, the company very much wanted me on a company-owned machine. But nothing says I can't review a company-owned product, especially because this one is with me all the time. But I must say, space black is uh surprisingly fingerprinty. It's almost impossible to get this totally clean. It is hilarious how it makes my space gray MacBook Pro feel way more silver than before. But all that being said, yes, everything is incredibly snappy and responsive. Already noticing the performance enhancements of this latest chip, even though it is a very familiar design. I basically have the worst variant of this MacBook Pro generation and the best variant. Now, we can compare the two, see if we notice any differences. And in case you're curious, yes, this is the non-bin M5 Max chip with 48 gigs of unified memory, but because there was a budget on the work laptop, we're just keeping it at 2 TB. There's all kinds of external storage drives and work servers we can fall back on, so it wasn't entirely necessary to get this one up to 8 TB. also doesn't need to store as much readily accessible B-roll as my last MacBook Pro does because it stores all of that iPhone footage or Mac footage that I pull from all the time and EV broll that I use for Tloive EV. So, this is just a easier way to separate like work from work basically and I'm very grateful to have this opportunity to review a work laptop but pretty incredible one as is. I'm happy to report nearly everybody at T is using Mac anyway, so I guess we're all Apple sheeps. Very helpful for airdrops and just file continuity between devices and more Mac comparison content is in the works. So, just stay tuned. But yes, I am still very curious and very interested in the OLED MacBook Pro coming out later this year that supposedly has not just a dynamic island, but also a touchscreen. I don't know if I want that, but we'll absolutely still be reviewing that one. I don't know if I want to keep a touchscreen Mac, but this one's sticking around longer than my usual product reviews. Thank you to everybody supporting this channel directly. It seriously helps us out a ton, as does just watching these videos. So, thanks again. This is your Al Shaper, and I will see you all on the next one.
